the reason why smash 4 changed dedede's final smash is actually most likely because of the 3ds' limitations not being able to deal with all of those enemies especially with 4 player smash

@@ThatSplatoonTouhouGuy Honestly if I were to try to fix it, make it so where in 1v1 the final smash will end early if you take a stock. Give you like... 1-2 seconds to get back onstage if you're in an awkward position, but not long enough that it's still active when the spawning invulnerability wears off.
Also worth noting is that Ness and Lucas's final smashes were slightly changed, both are PK Star Storm but gameplay wise they changed In Brawl the stars will fall of randomly In 4 they were concentrated in a single burst that you can control its direction And in Ultimate you can the stars will fall randomly fall but you can control the area where they fall (also in Ness's final smash in Ultimate Paula and Poo acompany Ness meanwhile in Lucas's he will be acompanied by Kumatora and Boney)
Not which is which but also in ultimate one of them have the stars be larger but slower and the other would have them a bit smaller but faster to fall and maybe a bit more numerous on screen.
They also get a new background based on a battle background in their respective game. I'm blanking on what Ness' is but Lucas' is based on the background used in the final Masked Man battle.
I really hated that they removed the transformation smashes and the reason they were removed was bad, you're telling me that they disrupt the flow of the game when the only way that would be a real problem is a competitive scene where they're never used in the first place, then there are items that fulfill similar purposes as to what the smashes do.
At the very least, make the Final Smashes more functionally unique from each other, and only use straightforward cutscene ones sparingly for the few characters who would actually warrant one (like Shulk and Joker)
1:03 Actually, I think that move is loosely based on Mario's special move in Super Mario RPG called "Ultra Flame". Or at least, it looks very similar.🤔🔥
From what I remember, I believe King Dedede's Final Smash was changed for Smash 4 because the 3DS would get laggy with that many character models on screen in larger games, similar to why Ice Climbers were cut.
Actually, I believe that Mario Finale IS based off something- which is the Ultra Flame attack from Super Mario RPG! Also, Young Link's Final Smash really should've been Fierce Deity Link- or a version of it that's similar to Triforce Slash, but instead of it being Triforce-based, it's based off the Fierce Deity mask from Majora's Mask! As for Yoshi, his STAMPEDE Final Smash is also based off Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Yoshi partner's attack of the same name!
In my opinion, it's kinda weird that Pokémon Trainer's Charizard doesn't Mega Evolve for triple finish. Granted, Mega Evolution wasn't in FRLG or HGSS (the games that have the Pokémon trainer we see in Smash wearing what he wears in smash), but Charizard cannot mega evolve on its own in both the games and anime, so consistency with the base games was not an issue.
@@pokemastersalgaming8271yea but the difrence is greninja's final smash is just greninja infront of the moon, while tripple finish has three pokemon squirtle ivy saur and charizard plus their respective moves hydro pump solarbeam and fire blast so adding a mega ontop of that does make it to buisy visually
i like how nintendo replaced transformation final smashes with cutscene final smashes to be "less distruptive" despite the fact that people cannot do anything when cutscenes are happening
12:12 They could have just make charizard transform into charizard x DURING THE TRIPLE FINISH 12:48 He could do a combo while transforming into all his forms (werehog, excalibur, darkspine), then end with his super form as the final move
15:54 the only really noticeable part of it is that the stars that shoot out of the power star bounce off of surfaces and go further where as the grand star grows faster and bigger than the power star

Fun Fact: Dr. Mario was originally going To be a costume on smash Wii U/3DS but would end up being a separate character in order To not anger melee Fans (honestly I'm glad Dr. Mario is a separate character).
I think Luigi’s original final smash would have been a way better for for Waluigi had he been added, since weird dances are something Waluigi already does, and since he too has been overshadowed by the other plumbers
I think the worst part of Wario Man's change VISUALLY is that they removed the WarioWare Touched reference, where in that game, if you feed standard Wario Nasty Garlic, he did a little spin before transforming into Wario Man, nice touch. But then they ruined it to be a standard charge forward for the cutscene FS... Lame
One thing, Mario Finale has a loosely based reference of the Ultra Flare from Mario RPG. The Triforce Slash is actually based on the final hits Link does to Gannon in Ocarina of Time. Yoshi’s Stampede! is also based on the tyke Yoshi’s Stampede move in Paper Mario TTYD. Negative Zone is based on how Luigi is the eternal understudy

It would be really sick if Fox's final smash became Landmaster again but as a multi hit like the rest. He calls up the Landmaster to crush the enemy with its weight (This being the activation confirm hitbox) and then (If enemy was hit succesfully) Fox shoots the Landmaster until it explodes dealing massive damage and knockback.
Tbh with Bowser Jr's final smash I would like for the Koopalings to have a different one using Bowser's clown cart (a bit of reference for NSMB2). I haven't decided how would that work but still it would make more sense
Transformation smashes must have been a lot of fun. They should have made young link put the feirce diety mask. That would have been a lot of fun. I dont see why nintendo does not want transformation smashes.
Transformation smashes are bad because it turns you into an unkillable god with immensely powerful attacks allowing you to easily take out your opponents, possibly multiple times. Not only do they “DisRUpT THe FloW oF bAttLE” but they also can really screw up the battles themselves. At least with the new FS’s you need to actually hit them to get that insane damage.
@@asafjuarez1 not really, while it’s an interruption, it’s not nearly as disruptive as transformations, you just hit the opponent once and that’s that. You don’t have to try to dodge and weave for 20 seconds.
I can't decide if I like the more technical power up-esq final smashes from brawl and smash 4 or the more (for lack of a better word) mindless ultimate final smash because I liked playing as wario man and giga bowser but then again it feels way more consistent in ultimate
Sorry for being that guy but , the negative zone's lore is the following: luigi takes his rage , sadness and jelousy from being overshadowed by mario and forms it in a zone
I don't care if it "disrupts the flow of battle", cutscene final smashes do that too. I mean, do you really like having to sit for like 5 seconds just so your opponent's FS finishes playing? It gets worse the more people there are in the match. With Negative Zone in particular, I really hope they give it to Waluigi if he ever gets in. First, Waluigi is known for being a cheater and Luigi's nemesis, so it'd make sense if he copied a move from the latter. Second, the FS is a dance, and one of Waluigi's few major roles as an antagonist was in Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix. Third, such a bizarre FS fits perfectly with Waluigi's overall character. Finally, the FS was based on how Luigi is always obscured by his older brother, and like you said he originally was just a pallette swap and nothing else. It perfectly fits with Waluigi, a character who has never had an actual role in a Mario game outside of spin-offs, is always obscured by the other three, has bad chemistry with basically everyone else aside from Wario, was created just so Wario could have a tennis partner, and has been relegated to be an Assist Trophy in Smash for over a decade. It'd make sense for him to vent all that negative energy in the form of a FS.
Kinda sucks how 'breaking flow of the battle' was the reason the transformation final smashes were cut. Like yeah, that was kinda the point. The tables turned when someone transforms and the game goes from offense to defense mode for like 15 seconds.
given how Yoshi's Final Smash source functions, honestly it should've remained closer to that. you get flight and stomping while it's active, but you only get one big triple fireball attack that ends it. if you don't use it quick Yoshi eats the shell and it's wasted. they put cutscenes final smashes because they were hoping to make them simple for competitive and just failed so they're kinda pointless now transformation smashes could work if they were like 5-10 seconds and faster, like custom combos in SF
I had so many memories with Yoshi, Snake, Luigi, Falco, King Dedede and I personally don’t like that they seem to be prioritising these more quick, ‘one on one’ strikes, as I prefer the older more ‘fun’ ones from brawl. But I do understand that they are trying to create a more standardised competitive gameplay for ultimate, which would require them to make such alterations. Anyways, another great video! Loved to see some of the older final smashes and completely forgot lucario had a different one in smash 4!
Same here, what a bitch This mf should’ve gave us a volume warning like tf He’s lucky that none of us have seen his face bc I’d press him for talking shit on a final smash that has become a fan favorite and it’s one of my fav final smashes of the smash series
I love that Snake, the face of gaming's most famous stealth franchise, whose games typically highly reward you for no-alert, non-lethal playthroughs, fires explosives for half of his abilities.
Samus' Final Smash in Brawl is the bes Final Smash because it's practically a confirmed kill, gives you the three strongest item-projectiles of the game and pushes you up like 5 tiers
If you ask me, Wario got shafted more than anyone in Ultimate. Wario Man used to be so fun to play as, now hes just a cutscene that you can't even play as, you just have to watch.
This was a Smashing good video(even if I disagree with close to half if not more than half of your opinions, but we're all entitled to one, so I can't complain too much)
Mm, I gotta disagree with Giga Bowser. In both Brawl and Smash 4, I loved running around as this gargantuan boss on the stages and whomping enemies with his powerful attacks. Granted, the Giga Bowser Punch is satisfying to smack enemies with and has a cool origin to Yoshi's Island, but I really do miss actively controlling him for a dozen seconds. Lucario's Mega Evolution is one of my favorite transformation Final Smashes in Smash 4. Similar to Giga Bowser, I simply get a kick out of using powered-up moves; having maximum Aura regardless of damage is fun with Lucario. I do appreciate how Ultimate essentially merged both the Final Smash move from Brawl with Mega Lucario from 4, but the playable transformation is slightly cooler to me. I think that the reason why King Dedede had a change from Brawl to 4 is because something like the Waddle Dee Army wouldn't be able to work with the limitations on 3DS. Still, I agree the the Brawl one is much funnier. Pretty good video, Odyssey Central!

Also worth noting is that Ness and Lucas's final smashes were slightly changed, both are PK Star Storm but gameplay wise they changed
In Brawl the stars will fall of randomly
In 4 they were concentrated in a single burst that you can control its direction
And in Ultimate you can the stars will fall randomly fall but you can control the area where they fall (also in Ness's final smash in Ultimate Paula and Poo acompany Ness meanwhile in Lucas's he will be acompanied by Kumatora and Boney)
Not which is which but also in ultimate one of them have the stars be larger but slower and the other would have them a bit smaller but faster to fall and maybe a bit more numerous on screen.
Ah yes, back in Smash 4 they would essentially guarantee that you would take the stock of everyone on one half of the map.
They also get a new background based on a battle background in their respective game. I'm blanking on what Ness' is but Lucas' is based on the background used in the final Masked Man battle.
Actually Luigi's old Final Smash Is a reflection of how he felt when he was in Mario's Shadow.
I really hated that they removed the transformation smashes and the reason they were removed was bad, you're telling me that they disrupt the flow of the game when the only way that would be a real problem is a competitive scene where they're never used in the first place, then there are items that fulfill similar purposes as to what the smashes do.
Man I miss transformation final smashes. "Oooh but the flow of battle" they're banned in competitive anyways make them cool and broken
If we're playing with Final Smashes on, I don't think we care about the flow of battle.
No, I don't care, do not bring them back
At the very least, make the Final Smashes more functionally unique from each other, and only use straightforward cutscene ones sparingly for the few characters who would actually warrant one (like Shulk and Joker)
Plus alot of people complained about it being weak
It probably would have been too much going on visually
@@ballisticboo7808 it wasn't when they put Ash Greninja in Greninja's final smash.
A cutscene interrupts gameplay even more
12:12 They could have just make charizard transform into charizard x DURING THE TRIPLE FINISH
12:48 He could do a combo while transforming into all his forms (werehog, excalibur, darkspine), then end with his super form as the final move
True fact😂
15:54 the only really noticeable part of it is that the stars that shoot out of the power star bounce off of surfaces and go further where as the grand star grows faster and bigger than the power star
00:40 technically Ness and Lucas' final Smash IS altered cause yeah it PK Starstorm but it's not the same between Brawl Sm4sh and Ultimate
One thing I do prefer about the cutscenes is that they are so much more badass as a finisher.
True
Yoshi's Final Smash in SSBU isn't entirely a melee reference. It also references Stampede, a move Mini-Yoshi had in Paper Mario TTYD.
Transformation final smashes were fun asf

To be fair, even though I miss wario man, it was easy to accidentally self-destruct with wario man because the motorcycle was so fast, as well as wario man’s super fart shooting you off the top of the screen

I still have no idea why vent/aile from zx aren’t there with model x.

Fun Fact: Dr. Mario was originally going To be a costume on smash Wii U/3DS but would end up being a separate character in order To not anger melee Fans (honestly I'm glad Dr. Mario is a separate character).
I think Luigi’s original final smash would have been a way better for for Waluigi had he been added, since weird dances are something Waluigi already does, and since he too has been overshadowed by the other plumbers
the robin final smash reference during the oit explanation killed me
The new pac man final smash also references the fact that Pac-Man can go to the left of the screen by always going right
I think the worst part of Wario Man's change VISUALLY is that they removed the WarioWare Touched reference, where in that game, if you feed standard Wario Nasty Garlic, he did a little spin before transforming into Wario Man, nice touch.
But then they ruined it to be a standard charge forward for the cutscene FS...
Lame
Rhythm Heaven best rhythm game
That animation was the only good thing about his old FS, now it’s actually a move that i want to use
Sakurai said it on a interview about they changing dedede final smash, he said that the old one would not work on the 3ds version of smash 4
Fr about Triforce slash, I had a feeling it was based on one of the Zelda Games,

Triforce Slash does not suck
It would be really sick if Fox's final smash became Landmaster again but as a multi hit like the rest.
He calls up the Landmaster to crush the enemy with its weight (This being the activation confirm hitbox) and then (If enemy was hit succesfully) Fox shoots the Landmaster until it explodes dealing massive damage and knockback.
babe wake up new odyssey central vid just dropped
Tbh with Bowser Jr's final smash I would like for the Koopalings to have a different one using Bowser's clown cart (a bit of reference for NSMB2). I haven't decided how would that work but still it would make more sense
the thing you aim Giga Bowser's punch with in ultimate is a reference to Yoshi's island
I don’t know why but 14:24 had me rolling to Pluto
Why do I feel like this video is going to become the least memorable Odyssey Central video ever
Fun fact:
Nathaniel bandy actually predicted luigis "poltergust" final smash while smash 4 was still in development
@@Crafty_boy70a cutscene interrupts gameplay even more
@@asafjuarez1 not really, while it’s an interruption, it’s not nearly as disruptive as transformations, you just hit the opponent once and that’s that.
13:55 the reason they changed Dedede’s final smash in smash 4 is because the 3DS couldn’t handle it
13:49 the bomb in smash 4 is from Kirby Pintball Land.
Dedede's Final smash has changed more often than the... Actually I can't think of anything lol
Sorry for being that guy but , the negative zone's lore is the following: luigi takes his rage , sadness and jelousy from being overshadowed by mario and forms it in a zone
4:12 I SEE YOU PHANTOM PUPPET
This was exactly the kind of video I was craving after watching ur final smashes ranking
Still can't believe Dry Bones got cut.
Fr tho
Kinda sucks how 'breaking flow of the battle' was the reason the transformation final smashes were cut. Like yeah, that was kinda the point. The tables turned when someone transforms and the game goes from offense to defense mode for like 15 seconds.
A cutscene interrupts gameplay even more
given how Yoshi's Final Smash source functions, honestly it should've remained closer to that. you get flight and stomping while it's active, but you only get one big triple fireball attack that ends it. if you don't use it quick Yoshi eats the shell and it's wasted.
they put cutscenes final smashes because they were hoping to make them simple for competitive and just failed so they're kinda pointless now
transformation smashes could work if they were like 5-10 seconds and faster, like custom combos in SF
That thumbnail is amazing, I mean how could you NOT click on that
I had so many memories with Yoshi, Snake, Luigi, Falco, King Dedede and I personally don’t like that they seem to be prioritising these more quick, ‘one on one’ strikes, as I prefer the older more ‘fun’ ones from brawl. But I do understand that they are trying to create a more standardised competitive gameplay for ultimate, which would require them to make such alterations. Anyways, another great video! Loved to see some of the older final smashes and completely forgot lucario had a different one in smash 4!
1:57 Odyssey you scared the crap outta me!

They should make a new classic mode so we can go in and customise our character final smash (of course only the fighters who had other final smashes)
I love that Snake, the face of gaming's most famous stealth franchise, whose games typically highly reward you for no-alert, non-lethal playthroughs, fires explosives for half of his abilities.
They can't see you if they're blown into pieces
Samus' Final Smash in Brawl is the bes Final Smash because it's practically a confirmed kill, gives you the three strongest item-projectiles of the game and pushes you up like 5 tiers
My favorite cut Final Smash was Ukulele Pichu’s solo.
…oh, wait.
They should have compromised by making Charizard become Mega Charizard X during the Triple Finish... that would have been _amazing._
Fr
If you ask me, Wario got shafted more than anyone in Ultimate. Wario Man used to be so fun to play as, now hes just a cutscene that you can't even play as, you just have to watch.
This was a Smashing good video(even if I disagree with close to half if not more than half of your opinions, but we're all entitled to one, so I can't complain too much)
If Waluigi was a character I think Negative Zone would work better for him since he lives in everyone’s shadow
If in the next smash they qds a mr. L costume, I'd love for mr. L to have the old negative zone
4:13 what is that in the lower left conner because it kinda looks like the phantom puppet from fnaf 3 or is that just me
It is the phantom puppet

I am sooooo mad that you didn’t include my main, Greninja. He looks soooo cool, and they changed his AniMaTiOn between sm4sh and ultimate. You are soooo mean!!!!
1:06 Actually Mario's final smash is based on the "utra flame" move on super Mario rpg.
Exactly
1:41 I'd have it so each beat zooms the screen in a bit, leaving people less area to avoid the attacks from the bongos
I would love if R.O.B's final smash could be based on STACK-UP/ROBOT BLOCK where he commits stage creator Tetris
Why doesn't Charizard Mega Evolve in Ultimate's Triple Finish like Lucario does in Max Aura Storm? Is Red stupid?
I miss the transformation final smashes. Such a power trip. But I get why they got changed for balance reasons.
