WORLD PREMIERE - 2023 Riviera 585 SUV - TOUR this Aussie Masterpiece!

- The Riviera 585 SUV is in a class of her own making. This NEW model for Riviera on the Gold Coast, Australia is so full of intelligent ideas it took me an hour to explain them all to you!
This is a boat that inspires confidence in any Captain. From the hull design to the functionality of the deck and interior you can see that this is a vessel that has been designed by boaters - for boaters.
The new Dock Assist technology is one of the multiple stand out features that genuinely allow a solo skipper to manage this boat around a marina - BY YOURSELF! The advances in this technology are actually incredible.
If you desire a tough, practical, ultra luxurious and seriously reliable boat for anything from day trips to month long adventures to tropical or even colder climates this boat will do it for you.
Confidence - this is the word that kept coming back to me after a day aboard the 585 SUV. Confidence in the ocean, confidence around tight spots in the marina and confidence blasting at 38kts down the Broadwater.
If I ever begin rating boats in the future this 585 SUV would likely top the list in every category.
It's that good.

Yes, us Americans LOVE the laundry area! Well, the entire yacht is amazing!!
It really is!
Yeah, Bulgarians love it too.
Never met a Riviera that I didn't love. Just gorgeous. Aussie made Riviera 👏
What an extraordinary blend of practicality and luxury. All Australia should feel proud of the job these Riviera folks have done. I'm off to buy a lottery ticket.
Agree Jack! This is a real Aussie success story right here. Everyone at the factory was so keen to do a good job and talk about how they do it.
Dan, very impressive yacht. Riviera has definitely spent a lot of time in paying attention to details.
More than most from what I observe.
Absolutely stunning yacht. I own a 52 foot 2003 Sea Ray 500 and this would be a great upgrade in a few years when I can buy it used. A new 585 will set you back $3.3 million but it's a lot of yacht. How about that laundry room. Never seen anything like it on a yacht this size (typically on a much larger 100+ foot yacht). Although I really like the Sea Ray this boat is of a different strata of luxury. One can live full time on this yacht.
I know the Sea Ray 500! Big volume boat and was the dream boat in her day! The 585 is simply incredible in terms of what it allows one person to do. You can seriously oprate this yourself and yes I would totally live on something like this and just keep cruising. Imagine how much fun that would be!
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife I'll tell you what, the SR 500 is still a boat in demand on the used market. It has the reliable Cummins QSM 11 motors. Its been a great boat but the Riviera 585 is my new dream boat. New boats have really gone up in price which is likely why used boats are holding their value.
Thank you for sharing a good looking beautiful yacht.
Great video Dan, enjoyed seeing the goose swim around you all throughout. Great vibes coming from that craft.
The locals are friendly up here!
wow you weren't kidding, a class of it's own. what an amazing boat.
Very much so
Riviera are the vangaurd of modern yachting. So practical and innovative.
They really are that good. The attitude of everyone at that company is all about professionalism.
Gotta love a good Aussie boat review compared to all the international ones out there! @Dan you really seem to love winding up the horses and getting the boats to perform, great drone footage and in depth reviews. Keep up the great work mate.
Appreciate that! Comments like this keep me motivated to keep driving the boats and flying my drone! Thanks
American, and yes you’ve nailed it. Love that boat!!
7:31 The 'generous' overhang
of the windshield visor looks
like a great feature.
I really like the both, the dinning both in the owners cabin. Better than a chase.
Wow ! -- wow ! Great video showing a truly awesome yacht. I think this one is my new favorite. Wow!
Also one of my new favourites. Thanks for the feedback
Dan, great stuff. I’d love to see you do one of these for the 465 SUV.
Cheers! Yes happy to jump on if Riv get me on a boat. It helps immensly when you guys tell your dealers that you'd like me to test boats. That's what opens all the doors.
Love the laundry room
Bloody hell that’s a lot of boat and brilliantly reviewed 🇬🇧
Best boat review, lots of info and details. When my wife and I learned it was coming to the Ft. Lauderdale show, we Immediately bought tickets, and set an appointment with the dealer. This yacht checks all the boxes for extended cruising with the huge bonus of ease of handling for a couple. Your review sold us.
Thanks.
Wow thanks for this feedback that's great the video helped you! This is honestly one of the best boats I've tested in 2023 so inspecting her at the show will be a good use of your time. Do me a favour and tell the dealers you watch my channel as this will help me get access to more boats to review for you.
Awesome Layout. I love it ❤
I love this boat❤️👍
Florida, USA and I looooove the laundry room.
I thought Americans would appreciate this too!
First time watching your channel Dan.. great boat and really great presentation mate...
Great versitile vessal , nice to have the convertible day bed in aft area for extra overnighters , wild helm !
Love that boat.😊
Dan, thank you for the comprehensive walk thru. Do you prefer this boat or the Belize 66 sedan? Thank you.
Fantastic review, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
you missed the TV sound bar- well, speakers under the black cloth.
Just over 55' is perfect. Three bedroom and bathroom.
Thorough, articulate, relatable, entertaining. Thanks!
A fabulous Aussie boat to be sure Dan! Great review. ....... but.... what we REALLY want is a 345 SUV with shaft/V drives and a starboard helm with helm door...... :) Cheers S 😁
Wow I would personally like a 345 SUV too. Helm door yes please!! I would happily live on a boat that size and cruise around the country filming boat tests!
I imagine making smaller boats in Australia would not be profitable though? Plus the factory was completely full of boats in production when I was there and they were raising and expanding sheds to allow for bigger boats so I'm guessing the direction is to go bigger...?
I've seen a Pullman in the laundry room like that.
Love this review. The best one yet 👌
Appreciate that
Krasna je❤
Well done mate you did a great job on the showing
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
I want that boat with high gloss walnut for all the woodwork
4:20 I would like to see this
'in' white top and white radar
etc hardware up top.
Sport Utility Vessel 👌
Laundry area, yes, for US
That’s a belta, I’ll take two :)
She's a cracker alright!
I just realised what the true purpose of the two seat table is in the owners suite. The reason it opens up is so the husband can beat his wife at the board game Battleship!!!
Diamond stitched - better for the bottom seating to be plain because it can be a sand catcher
I love this boat!! Have you done a test on the Maritimo X60
No Maritimo's yet. I would like to. I will be on the Sabre Yachts next month however
Awesome lines penned by the designer
I especially like the roof design. Masculine but understated
Dan, looks like a Black Swan event. I noticed your company off the swim platform.
Bahaha... that took me a few seconds to get it
Very good review congrats....although I got a question!,... In case a washing/Drying machine gets broken, how do you get it out and replaced?!?!
I think you'd be screwed if the washing machine gave up. Woould need to find a way to repair it on site is my guess. If you could fit it throught the engine bay door then you'll get it out of the hatch.
That is an incredible boat. What's that particular configuration pricing?
Chaise Longue is french for long chair. Laundry room would benefit from a fold down ironing board. 👍
That's a good suggestion. I'm going to call it the long chair from now on ;)
Dan, any plans to review the new Aussie "Charley 2" ? (kidding) Great review as usual, thanks.
Charley 2...? Whats that? Thanks.. this is an amazing boat!
Lovely boat superbly demonstrated. The exposed Hi / low TV by the galley wouldn't last 5mins at knee height + kids running into it ? . Shocker 😮
Thanks! I've sent your feedback to Riviera so the design team can hear it. You make a good point about kids. I don't have kids so didn't occur to me. Some little tacka's could do some real damage if they were sliding around in their socks.
Complete luxury is not gold taps or a 6ft blonde Scandi Stewie. It's silence.
Agree
My first thought, when I saw all of that Stainless was, jeez that's a lot of polishing that's going to be needed to do, but I have to admit it looks like it would be worth the time and hassle.
So worth it.. this is really a fantastic boat.
Can those large windows be dimmed inside or are they always open like that. Could be bright in the sun.
So they already have built in tint to the glass but the roof design has a noticable overhang which puts shade over the windows when the sun is high and hot in the sky. When the sun is getting lower you have internal blinds and removable external mesh as well.
A black swan event
If you need to cover a long distance without a fuel stop, can you displacement cruise?
Absolutely and the fuel flow is much less at displacement.
Love the Boat can you tell what it's range is?
th-cam.com/video/XoGRBRQfy1k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KLq5mvF69g5TSu5s check this out
Could this vessel handle the robust weather off of NE coast USA?
Yes absolutely, she's ideal for it actually. I'd compare her with the Sabre 58 if you want to judge two together.
Great boat, but I would personally prefer the Sabre 58 Express. The Sabre has a rich interior, and overall looks less fiberglass'ie.
A worthy competitor.. I've also tested the Sabre 58.
The word is “thoughtful”
Go away sea gulls... he defends the boat with his life 😂
Cleaned too much bird poo off decks in my time haha
So the master cabin has its bathroom in the corridor and not en-suite, very strange.Right up to that point I was loving this boat
Looks like it is ensuite to me.
Yeah it is actually an ensuite. There is a door to close it all up.
❤🇦🇺
Choppy hehe, bigger waves in ma bath.
Must be some bath you have
Maybe not opening most of the cabinets, if you say it's storage, I'm sure most will believe you. However, enjoyed the video
"SUV" stands for 'sport utility vehicle'. In the US, the term is appplied to Jeep-like off roaders, utility vans and conversiions, and the modern replacement for the 'station wagon' (called "shooting brakes' in the UK). Truth be told, what you really have here is a straight up cabin cruiser, with the modern term being 'coastal cruiser'.
Interesting... we use the term Ute to describe the Toyota Hilux style or specifically Holden and Ford cars which had a try in the back instead of seating. Utility was the word we shortened to refer to it. Basically it had the comfort of a car in the front and the utility of a 4X4 tray in the back.
Would you mind going into the master showers so we can see if bigger people fit?
Yep no worries
…he-ah…oh you mean here…ah, we get it.
What was the asking price before they sold out?
I think it's been designed that way to facilitate longer trips aboard. Give you more of the home away from home experience.
What is the price in £ and or $aus....for this spec here?
I don't know as they sold out the first batch of boats already so you'll need to contact your local Riv dealer and they can give you updated pricing and delivery times.
Those panel gaps and misalignments would drive me nuts.
You must have better eyes than me :)
I didn't realize how many words you can pack into a 65" boat review.
Haha quite a few
How much it costs and a fully loaded gas tank will take you how far
th-cam.com/video/XoGRBRQfy1k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=X6bZYCV5oOaeQlOQ I talk about fuel flow in this video which should help you
This yacht has class, wonderful, gorgeous, etcetera, I totally agree with all of it. But it just ain’t gonna cut it. You know why?
Cause it is damned slow ! Max speed of 31 knots is NOT going to cut it. Not for me at least. I was so disappointed when I researched the speed.
Apparently Riviera is aware of this, because different from Regal website for instance, Riviera does not publish ‘performance’ data in the website.
Riviera should come up with faster version with outboard motors. Besides, Pershing is as gorgeous as riviera with faster speed to name one, and
Probably less expensive. From, Los Angeles to Catalina island and back, who wants to spend 6 hours driving? You won’t have any energy left for swimming or anything.
So I think the typical Riv buyer demographic is not seeking super high speeds. Maybe try the new Regal 50 SAV if you want a big boat or the Back Cove 390 with twin V12 is another beautiful - but fast option for you.
Steel dealer for 25 years. Dan, you're going to get so much crap about welds and rusting. I worked in German yards, we still got angry about steels.
Haha i'm learning!
this is A LOT of boat ...
Better to have the camera showing
us the boat, not the presenter
center frame ALL of the time.
Presenter in-frame 15 or 20% of
a walkthrough makes for a much better
showing of any yacht.
Yes so one day when I can afford a full time cameraman i'd love that kind of professionalism but for now i'm still doing it all myself and just pass the camera to whoever is with me on the day and I coach them on how to film me as I am presenting to you guys.
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
Thanks, have a great day.
How about that cussing corner of the cabinet above the couch. Tape a big piece of Styrofoam to it.
lol
I feel like the helm setup is terrible. Guest, especially kids, have easy access to the controls. Imagine people just playing or fiddling with the controls when passing by.
SUV means something totally different here in America lol. Standard utility vehicle 😂😂😂 that's a boat mate 😂
But I do love the boat!!!
Haha ok I didn't know that!
Hard pass on many of the design choices, foremost being that awful lounge area layout where the tv is visible to only 2 people seated max
Fair enough, I guess they can't please everyone. Check out the Fairline 65GTO then, the TV is much more lounge vibe for more people.
Never felt se me or w had someone talked so much about so little. He wore me out.😅
That's the wonderful thing about TH-cam Larry - you can switch off lol
This was thorough...a little too thorough
I guess I'm trying to save time for all the guys who've already ordered and planning on ordering one of these. If you're in Perth it's a 5hr flight just to get to Queensland and even Sydney is an hour and a half flying time. This was always a challenge when I was a salesman with the big distances everyone has to travel so I figured I could tell them everying on TH-cam. Agree I can talk a lot though lol
Confused. You're Australian.... Why are you quoting lengths in feet?? Please let us know Metric measurements. I'm British, in my 50s. I've never been taught or learned Imperial! What on Earth is an Aussie using it for?? LOL!
Drive in mph, cook in F, building materials are in feet etc etc. You are kidding yourself. Boats use imperial, except where they don't, just like you use metric except where you don't.
Haha because the British founded us (Metric) and the Yanks matured us (Imperial) so we are stuck in the middle lol
He talks too much.
Maybe try Aquaholic Nick he's great :)
Great looking boat. Shame about a man wearing skinny jeans and a jacket. sick.
$?
IT IS A PITY SHE IS NOT FULLY ELECTRICAL AND HYBRID.... THEN, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST TO DATE. IN THE MEANTIME, GREENLINE IS THE BEST ON THE PLANET.
Dan, thank you for the comprehensive walk thru. Do you prefer this boat or the Belize 66 sedan? Thank you.
No worries. So I have a few mate who own smaller Belize Yachts and they speak highly of them but i've not tested one myself so I can't honestly comment. I personally think the Belieze 66 is bloody gorgeous but I really need to spend a day or two on it before I can add any real value.
