    It's good to see you sampling the boating scene down in South Florida, Dan. You no doubt now can imagine how different the Northeast and South Florida boating scenes can be, which will come in handy when reviewing future boats. Lucky for us!

    As people are starting to mention, the ability to enclose may come in to play if it’s not already a planned option. Even though we are down here in Southwest Florida,the winters can get a little chilly, and complete protection while anchored during rainstorms is important. Even with some of the minuses compared to the Aquila, this has gone to top of my list.

      You are right on point with what I was instantly thinking. This boat has massive appeal and in fact, I was dreaming about it last night. I had seen these two BoatLife videos profiling the TH36 and here I am the morning after exploring them even more and comparing it to the Aquilla 36 which has the enclosed salon option. That boat has everything but this Four Winns is so beautiful it has me hooked. Do you marry the delightful brunette Doctor or the hot blond Vegas showgirl. I know that in the long run one is a much better choice than the other for what my needs are. After seeing the blue hull and sexy lines of the TH36 the Aquilla looks nerdy and the beige fabrics call to mind the Harvest Gold and Orange appliances and countertops of the 1970's.
      The Aquilla even has a hydrofoil option. Another thing I noticed is how Four Winns nicklee and dimes you to death for their must have options. First of all it is a 36ft boat (though a cat) with a base price of about $750,000 dollars but little things like the tiny drawer fridge in the bow area is like $2,200. A couple of underwater lights is $8,000. Air Conditioning is a $21,000 dollar option and the couple of DC powered little fans are almost $700 dollars. I don't begrudge a company making a hefty profit especially when they did such an excellent job but an $800,000 36 ft boat ought to be able to include a couple of little fans. And Windshield wipers are not even included and is a $2,000+ option.
      Even after all this complaining I know I am going to be dreaming about this sexy boat for days though I know that the Aquilla 36 with an air conditioned salon and with a few colorful added accents would be a better boat for my needs in South Florida.

    Wow they are really on to something here. A few small design changes and this would be a great Pacific combo lounge/fishing boat. The rooms and heads are great as well as the walk around capability. Enclose it and get rid of those sliding couches in the back in exchange for a rail across the back with fold down seats and bait tank. Very cool.

    An interesting boat, a pity that here in Europe, the extra width will, in many marinas, need a wider berth which will be a longer berth and thus a size up. In my loacal marina this will be €19,071 / year more expensive. 😲 Captain John

    Quite a nice boat for around $900k (on the Four Winns site builder). As some others have mentioned, it would be very nice to be able to totally enclose the helm/galley area, or at least 3 sides. That and the foiling give the Aquila 36 a slight edge.

    • @kokoyaro
      @kokoyaro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      900k is almost ridiculous considering the almost half price for Aquilla 36. I understand they're trying to stand out with a bit more lux innovation and fuel economy but there's really no justification for almost a mill

    • @michiganengineer8621

      @@michiganengineer8621 Here we go. In your view the $480k Aquilla 36 is a kayak for average joes?

    • @michiganengineer8621
      @michiganengineer8621 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kokoyaro Not what I said. None of the boats, or damned few of them anyway, that are reviewed here on YT fall into the "avg. Joe" category. Hell, the Aquila (that we both apparently like), is more than 8x what I paid for the house I live in.

    • @kokoyaro
      @kokoyaro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michiganengineer8621 That means you took me out of context with your canoe statement and that your mindset is the excuse these companies use to rip-off their customers with exorbitant pricing. I made a down payment for an entry level $480k Aquilla 36 (not the sport) and that was before I learned I could get it for less than $300k if I took the trouble to go directly to their factory in China. Anyway, I estimate that after I'm done with customizing, the total cost will stay below 550k.
      And here you have a FourWinns TH36 for almost double that price yet less in performance and design with an inferior half enclosed cockpit that ignores the frustrating possibility of unforseen weather. I'd rather they went with a cheaper convertible canopy than giving customers zero option in sudden rain.
      Back in the day people would say the high pricing is for prestige because the boats were made right here in the US unlike others like Aquilla made in China. But that argument doesn't stand today because since Beneteau took over about a decade ago, they cut down production cost and more than 80% of the boat is also coming from China. I live in Michigan, their factory here devolved to nothing more than an assembly plant.
      Anyone who dares to spend $900k on this boat is ill-informed. They could top-up a little more to get the Aquilla 44 instead. Being rich doesn't mean one shouldn't expect/demand reasonable prices. That's all I'm saying

    Love it. Kind of an Aquila clone but done better. What I can’t understand is why they fail to put on a front ladder considering the number of people that take the same orientation to shore.

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I would also offer that as an option as there is loads of storage in the front lockers so you could make a very luxury ladder that stows away. Its a nice boat for 2 people that want to live aboard and have a spare bed for visitors nice but it also needs a frèezer same size as the fridge mabe that can be done i hope , the second head and shower hmm wasting space i recon the second one probably wont get used much and use that space for something else live aboards rarely have visitors if so they can use the main one , and use the extra space , and a couple off diesel out boards on back would be nice they dont have to be big 2 smaller diesels would be fine , better fuel economy and the tanks will hook straight up to the diesel heater 👍

      I’d like to have a go with that Aquila. I love their Molokai range. Chinese builders are really bringing the competition to the West now. I’m going to start exploring China to see what else I can learn.

    Did that Aussie just say a foot and a half instead of a half a meter?

    Built in Tanzania. 🤔. Only time will tell if the build quality is awful. Personally I’m ordering a Sea Ray. Built in the US using good quality hardware and with a proven track record for the (half million) money.

      Where is Tanzania? Yes you can't knock American build quality and Sea Ray does a superb job. I guess Four Winns needs to take a few risks with something so different like this so yes time will tell.

    I like it but it needs to have an completely enclosed saloon and a flybridge with a visor on top. The bathrooms are unnecessarily large, especially the showers. Cut the shower enclosure in half and put the toilet next to it, and mount the sink on the wall above it. With the bathroom half the size, it makes room for some other use with the new area. OR, get rid of the other bathroom and use the space as a proper galley, as I have seen in some larger catamaran videos, and the area at the hull tip would provide more storage space. What's going on with the area behind the bathroom walls at the hull front tips? Larger catamarans have storage areas in the front tips where fenders, rope, etc. are stored. I've even seen that space used as a very basic berth/room/office.
