How To Black Out Your Roof

- Learn how to black out your roof by watching this detailed Spray Painting Tutorial. Two-tone cars are making a comeback and I believe spraying your roof black is a real stylish option, I also sprayed all my trims, window wipers, etc black so the entire top half of the car looks like a sheet of tinted glass. Watch this video and follow the transformation.

Your 100% right mate , you need a little planning, a friend rang me last week to paint his roof yesterday, he said it was all prepped , and I took it all to casually thinking “eh it’s just one panel” It was a disaster so bad that after the first coat of base I could tell we both stuffed up and my worst mistake was thinking I’ll try out a new star s106 mini gun , needless to say we are starting again and redoing the whole job next week

Very nice job. Love where you decided to set the colour change. Sucks you don’t have a trim piece to hide the transition from each colour at the rear panel like what you have on an Audi A1. You could probably come up with some kinda texture pin stripe that hides the transition. Or a rubber strip of some kind.?

Hi Gunny fantastic job as always. I was just wondering would you have any tips to prevent runs and sagging. I'm still an apprentice but I paint almost at home in my garage. I usually don't get any runs in the booth but at home I get them almost everytime lately. I'm in ireland and garage temps would be around 15 degrees with heat on.

i like it, very nice! also, i watched your vid on removing the clear run a while back. did you use fiber glass putty? if not, what kind of bondo did you use? im about to paint and might face that issue and want to make sure i have the material to do it. I have fiber glass bondo and glaze.
All my regrets lead to not planning and planning is the key to any project and gives me more awareness and seems to make a job flow better with less fk ups

Looks killer! If you plan on continuing the black out theme and can be arsed try black out the headlight housings. Would top it off nicely IMO.

it looks great, I'm also painting a two tone car and am wondering how to safely smooth out the line where the different colors meet. In this video you mention that you will demonstrate how to do that in a future video but I haven't found it yet. Can you tell me what video it is in?

Grippy sanding cloths are awesome dude I’ve gotten onto them recently, ends up being fairly cost effective because they last so long

Have you sprayed rustoleum enamel paint through a paint gun . Which is considered to shoot enamel pain a 4 to 1 mix ? Looking for a smaller gun holds Not A lot ?

Well, they're awesome. I'm not sure exactly where you can get them but I would imagine your local 3M dealer should have them in stock.

Only thing different is I'm doing it in concept 2k nt clear over base cuz I got like 4L each of each colour it for free n the car was only 500bux 🤣, so nt 100percent sure how to go about it. I.e spray it the grey first then hard-line the black or possibly do it another way , But ohwell ur vids are still the best I can find n helps that ur also in Oz n helps gives a few ideas on things to do haha

Hell yeah!!! that looks fantastic Gunny, I've had a couple of the 1.5L kits of Crystal Clear and I don't see any difference in the finish between this and the Liquid Glass which I find is a bit more temperamental in my environment. The Crystal Clear looks and sprays the same as a new clear that I use which is the Multi-Mix Multi-Clear brand it's made here in the UK and the owner is very helpful, he's still growing as a company and is always looking for more outlets so maybe he would send you some it's an awesome clear which is a higher solid MS clear, if you want more info just DM me on IG. You did a good job but there is a lack of some tech talk , regarding the type of gun and compressor you're using and the number of coats needed on each layers etc ... mr gunman .
