@@alanlo-557 Sorry my friend, would love to help, but was happily striping my lawn when I lost control turning round for the next stripe. I nudged the throttle and it mowed through the house, out the front door and down the road. Mower last seen doing 160mph down the A34. Sounded good though.

Install the bargain replacement muffler from your muffler shop. It will rust through in about a year and a half: No more back pressure, you have a legal defense, but you won't attract girls.

This is 100% accurate Scotty once I removed the muffler from my 1.5hp motorized bicycle, I was having trouble hanging on. 200lbs including me, engine, bike, and gas with 201.5 horses AT THE WHEEL is tremendous

An old saying two of my old engine builder buddies told about making cars faster and engines more power was......."Cubic inches or cubic dollars". These were the two options for faster cars. Of course there are some amazing race mechanics and engine builders that are more high tech and more knowledgeable about making cars run faster,but all the mechanics and other engine builders for many miles around came to these two old buddies both for wisdom&advice as well as to have all the work they weren't capable of doing themselves get done by my buddies.
One passed away several years ago now and the other quit building engines and went to work as a journeyman electrician. He still builds his own Harleys from scratch piece by piece and part by part to create the specific bike he wants. He even builds his own engines for his Harleys.
They're both still sorely missed today as engine builders and wise old mechanical geniuses. I miss their talents myself.

I now have the best of both worlds of exhaust. I installed an electric exhaust cut-out . Loud on demand and quiet when you don't want to wake up the neighbors or draw attention. All with the push of a button.

@@wyattsmith9791 in my state they put your car on a lift and look under to ensure you don't have a bypass or cut out
@@RageUnchained same here in maine. we have the most strict inspections of all states and they are illegal but you just install them after inspection and remove when you re inspect it every year. Cant have any rust hole, no altered exhaust headlights windows lifts etc. Tires cant stick out past fenders etc. List goes on and on but everyone does it. It help to have a friend who does inspections too

Scotty, Back in the 70's I remember seeing a sticker on a bike stating to the effect of not to remove or alter the exhaust system. I knew there were motorcycles that couldn't run open pipes and had to have a muffler/expansion chamber in place but never knew why. Thanks for explaining the need for backpressure on two-stroke engines.

American general aviation aircraft all have mufflers. The most sound produced in flight from a small prop plane is, well, the prop. The tips go supersonic, and put out a lot of noise. Yes, the European regs have a noise component, but this has lead to better propeller technology.

Scotty-I had a ‘72 Saab Sonett V-4 years ago. It was a 4-stroke engine-actually, it was a Ford V-4. Earlier Saabs (before ‘68), including the Sonett, had 3-cylinder 2-stroke engines. The 2-stroke engines were supposed to be easier to start at the extreme low temps of Swedish/Scandinavian winters, like older snowmobiles, etc.

This principle was used on Triumph sedans using two absorption silencers, also I believe Porsche 924 used three of them! Usually got loud under full throttle- but silent when gas speeds are low

My Father always drove old BIG cars and said if it wasn't made of 16 gauge steel it was junk! I bought this really old Pontiac made with 16 gauge steel? My exhaust pipe was patched with aluminum glue, beer cans and fiberglass wrap. Held up with steel strapping I got from work.
After years of doing this I had more patch than pipe.

The video is great. It is very good to install the exhaust muffler on the car. I bought a pair of this renhotec brand muffler not long ago. After installing it for a while, it is still very good. It is recommended that if you are interested, you can install the muffler.
I added a K&N intake and a 3” FlowMaster exhaust to my 11 Ford Ranger XLT super cab 4WD with the 4.0L V6.
Before the mods I was getting 19mpg with the cruise set on 75mph on the freeway. I now get 23mpg.
For years and years, I drove my cars with 80"of straight pipe until I got married and had kids. They sounded great at 70 m.p.h. going down the highway and I got good fuel mileage too. One town I lived in, nobody had mufflers except the funeral hearse.

I'm so glad I'm not lazy and ? Then scratch my head when my vehicle breaks down, I learned at age 13 how to work on engine's, transmissions etc. Thanks to my dad and stepdad for taking the time to show me. I've had Ford's, Toyotas, Chevy's, and I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE walked home because of a vehicle not even once in my life. If I'm driving I'll fix it then drive home. No lie 👍

The V4 engine in the Saab was a 4 stroke from the Ford Consul
The 2 strokes were mostly 3 cylinder although the earliest Saab had a 2 cylinder 2 stroke.
Yes, for the US market and due to ridiculous emission regulations, the Saab Sonett was equipped with the four-stroke Cologne V4 engine from Ford ( 60 degree V shape). The same engine was used for later development of the V6 engine which was widely used by Ford until the '90s.
Saab further used the engine for their model 96 and even tuned the damned thing to 200 Hp (Saab 96 RC turbo) by the use of a turbocharger.
I'm glad that I live in Florida because I can do these mods without trouble😂😂!!

I saw a test on line. Same motor set up. H-Pipe, X-Pipe and Open Exhaust. X-pipe with Good Mufflers had a Higher Elapsed Time of all set ups. you need back pressure.

I have 2011 Toyota Avanza with a 1.3 L motor . I modded the air filter box and put on a motorcycle filter , I took out the muffler as it had two , the big one had to go and did . The tail pipe came out through the rear body panel with a duel square tip and still passes all the emission stuff . Next was a tuner chip in the OBD plug . the milage went up about 50 more miles a tank . The trans is very close ratio , going into second will spin the tires . Suspension is next .
A friend of mine in the navy told me some navy ships had a special set of top secret engine injectors they kept in a nice fancy cigar box locked away that they only used when authorized, but said to me, its an incredible rare sight when you get to see an aircraft carrier fishtailing with the bow coming out of the water

Scotty , I just bought a 1996 Ford Mustang SVT
Cobra . 21,000 original miles garage kept. Elderly man bought it brand new and it sat in the garage it’s entire life driven less than 1000 miles a year. I paid 12,000 for the car. All the gaskets the door jams it looks and smells like a brand new car. Getting ready to replace all the coolant hoses. Flushing out all the fluids in the vehicle. How is the reliability on a 1996 Ford with a 4.6 Engine. It almost looks like a hemi engine with the large heads. Thinking about doing long tube headers? The Saab Sonnet used a 3 cylinder two stroke for a couple of years before going to a 4 cylinder four stroke engine. The aftermarket expansion chamber on a two stroke was a tuned exhaust to feed the engine the maximum charge by coupling an extraction cone with a reversion cone at a TUNED length.

@@Pandadancypant mine fell off after the cat so i just left it like that lol fuckit. I had way to many problems with it to put exhaust on it
@@willfleischauer I'm pretty just giving her some tlc. New coil pack, sparkwires, fuel pressure sensor, O2 sensors, and exhaust. Been neglecting her a bit because of work may switch to Royal purple oil for a few thousand miles too.

I had to replace pretty much all the sensors on the 4.0 engine. fuel injectors. water pump. And then the head cracked i replaced that with a 600$ head and then a cam bearing broke on it a month later and it got sold the next week lol

Removed the mufflers from my 2017 392 Charger Scat Pack. Never had....or at least never noticed any issues. Loved all the noise. Loved the car. Unfortunately I got rear ended and that was that.

DEFAULT-SKIN-2018 ngl they're pretty heavy at least the one in my car was a good 30 lbs
I swapped out the 2 stock mufflers for a pair of MagnaFlow 2" x 21" glasspacks and saved 8 pounds per muffler.
Swapped out steel wheels for cast aluminums and saved 4 pounds per wheel.
Every little bit helps !!
