    I was nearly sleeping while listening to your videos (no, not because it's boring, but I was doing my boring work in the meantime), but when you signal that you're going to test the dolphin switches, and you pressed the button, I was immediately WIDE AWAKE. Yes, as ironic and as funny as it is, I was awoken by these silent switches.
    thank you for these silent switch review, and all the experimentations, I really am considering buying these now!

    I recently went from a low profile khail blue switch keyboard to a gateron speed copper custom keyboard, my wife was always ok with the sound but prefers a quiet keyboard for herself. She has a keyboard with cherry red (knockoffs of some kind, a generic red switch), but she wishes her keyboard was quieter. I might have to help her find a keyboard she likes and put some of these switches in, this is just what she's been looking for...
    thanks for the content, really enjoyed you tore them apart to show their inner working as well as modifying them a bit to let us know what that'd sound like, very informative and well laid out video!

      Thank you for your support! Durock Silent Switches are great. If your wife prefers a quiet keyboard, recommend using these silent switches.

    Great comparisons, would love to see a video about lubing silent switches. Really enjoying the LumeKeebs hand L+F Dolphins that I ordered!

    Good content (and glad to see someone do a comparison of a family of switches). I hope with practice you can improve the chunky zoom-in/out, and the times you're not lined up under the camera on a closeup.

      Footnote - the upsidedown keyboard is hard to watch. 😅

    I feel like the Shrimp's tactile bump kind of compensates for a bit of the mushiness that is more obvious in the silent linears, thanks for this review!

    I am tempted to get the shrimps. Sorry I’m a newbie, they will fit the k4 pro hot swap right? Except the tilda key?

      They should, no reason why it wouldn't fit the tilde key either.

    I play osu so i need light switches, dolphins are much heavier than my gateron reds
    Im thinking of swapping out the springs in the dolphins for the ones in my reds, i wonder how that would turn out lol

      @LumeKeebs  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I love silent tactiles. I love my Shrimps, but some of my (unlubed) switches started "sticking" quite a bit - sometimes they get stuck at the bottom, and take a fraction of a second more to spring back up. Dunno if taking them off my Iris and lubing them up would help, but it's getting rather annoying. Very disappointing considering how much I love those switches otherwise.

    I recently build an iris and I lubed my shrimp switches so much that the are now almost linear. They have this scratchy sound that I will never be able to stand.
    If know of only one switch that is truly silent: khail box silent pink. I can feel the lubed has started moving after a week and the scratchiness is almost back. So I am going to get a batch of khail box silent pink and put the durocks to rest.

    • @georgepierre3594
      @georgepierre3594 ปีที่แล้ว

      dont lube tactiles imo. ruins the feel so much. I prefer my tactile stock.

    • @LumeKeebs
      @LumeKeebs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, sorry to hear your lubed Shrimp becomes linear. When lubing tactile switches, we recommend not lube the legs of the stem and put very little on the leaf. This way you can maintain maximum tactility.
      Also recommend using TriboSys 3203 lubricant for tactile switches.

    What about putting o rings on other switches compared to the silent switches?

    • @LumeKeebs
      @LumeKeebs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Keidel, thanks for your comment! The silent switches have a specially designed lip that allows the silicon to snap on to. Other switches usually don't have that.

    • @evanbingham8
      @evanbingham8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Silent switches also silence the key return as opposed to the o-rings that only quiet the downstroke

    those daybreak switches will dim the rgb right cause they're tinted plastic

    • @LumeKeebs
      @LumeKeebs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Daybreak is a little less bright compared to the dolphin since the dolphin is fully transparent while the Daybreak is a smoked translucent housing. That being said some of our customers use the Daybreak with LED boards and are very happy with the results.

    • @realMrVent
      @realMrVent 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only if the LEDs are SMD (built into the board). If you're mounting the LED on the outside of the switch, the housing wouldn't interfere with the brightness.

    • @ruthlesscutthroat4030
      @ruthlesscutthroat4030 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      thanks for the reply. but it seems the section of the key where the led shines through is completely transparent and has no effect on led brightness.

    meanwhile.... adding o-rings is just as quiet, cheaper, and works with any switch.

    • @cecibacha
      @cecibacha ปีที่แล้ว

      The mush though. I like to feel the switch bottom out

    • @realMrVent
      @realMrVent 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't really agree with this. O-Rings completely "numb" the bottom-out and don't to anything to silence the return. Their design also shortens the travel length, which makes for an entirely different typing experience imo

    if the switch isn't tested in the same slot, the test is irrelevant as it's not given the same circumstances when performing it's duties.
