    I love how your videos go right to business, no bs, just information and sound tests. I'm debating getting some more Fairy switches for my work keyboard, as much as I adore my Frozen Silents I'd rather risk Fairies on a board that might get swiped, even if the chances are almost zero.
    Cheers to you and your website, you do great work and offer an incredible service!

    Very nice video: zero fluff and directly to the point.
    I have just one wish for the future: make separate videos for tactile and linear switches. I think I'm not in minority when I absolutely want to have either linear or tactile switch and the noise comes only after choosing the general type of the switch.
    And I think it would be better to explicitly say if a silent switch is silent for bottoming only, or for both bottoming and uplift.

  • @ContraGrain

    I absolutely adore and can vouch for the TTC Venus. I have tried many switches over the years and the way I built them into my everyday typed (QK100) they sound absolutely heavenly. They’re quiet enough that the sound isn’t annoying, but also have a nice creamy thock that I want without them being too harsh. TTC is a manufacturer I look forward to seeing more of in the years. I’m considering making a travel board with silent bluish whites we’ll see.

    • @leftcoastfunk

      I got the Neptunes which are basically the same switch. I love how the switch sounded and felt in hand outside the board, but the bottom-out just felt really strange to me once I put them in my board. I'll def try them on different boards to see if it's any different, but for now I'm kinda turned off on them for a bit. It's super hard for me to explain, but almost feels like more than one part of the stem is bottoming out but slightly uneven. Because of that it actually feels super uncomfortable to me to bottom these out when typing, which is unfortunate because the stem movement is super smooth and I do like the overall sound

    I've tried a few of these. The U4s are definitely the quietest, the Bluish Whites are a little louder, but have a longer feeling key press, and the ws silent tactiles are just as quiet on the bottom out, but really loud when you release the switch. I'm currently rocking the bluish whites because I like the longer keystroke

    EDIT: The TTC Silent Frozen (V2) are amazing!! I was trying the Gateron Zero Degree switches and compared to non silent linears yeah very quiet. But TTC SF’s have a quietness to them I did not think was possible and that also feel good too. They are even quieter than the Gateron Zero Degrees. And they illuminate RGB lights like crazy! If you looking for THE silent switch and happen to use RGB lights on your board go with the TTC Silent Frozen!

    Bought some silent frozens from you a month or so ago and hot damn, I love them so much. They've been my everyday switch at work and they are a hit. Never heard a complaint about sound (they're quieter than most membranes) and people ask to try typing on it all the time because they love the feel. Honorable, and weird, Mention for the Outemu silent limes. Crazy light silent tactile switch that i've been using to game after the GF goes to sleep.

    • @leftcoastfunk
      @leftcoastfunk หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Have you had any issues with the silent frozens not fitting into any of your plates? I've only tried them in one of my boards so far but the sides of the switch literally wouldn't go through the plate :(

    • @russ2120
      @russ2120 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@leftcoastfunk I threw them in a monsgeek m6, which is an ALICE layout, so there's generally plenty of space. I didn't have any real troubles, but it did seem like a bit of a tighter fit than some other switches. What plate were you working with? That's so disappointing because I feel like you would likely enjoy using them. I assume you're experienced but, just in case, how hard did you push? I was definitely worried I would break them, but they snapped into place easily with a little oomph.

    • @leftcoastfunk
      @leftcoastfunk หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@russ2120 I'm a bit experienced (built about 9 boards anywhere from a KBD67 to a Mammoth75, have tried/used around 30 different switches, and every type of plate I'm aware of except copper). I was trying this switch in my Hope75x with POM plate. It definitely would not go through the plate - at least not without pressing hard enough to create fear of absolutely blasting the hotswap socket across the universe (yeahhh I decided not to push that hard)
      I expected it to still go in even if it needed more oomph than usual due to the soft plate, but no-go. Maybe the plate was TOO soft lol. I was trying it on the built board just because i was only going to try a few switches and that board is a pita to disassemble, but that did make it so I couldn't really support the plate while I pushed. Perhaps that's the answer for the tight fit
      I'll try a couple other boards/plates and see what happens
      On the other hand, idk if I even WANT silent switches lol, but I thought they'd be fun to try out

    • @russ2120

      @@leftcoastfunk okay then you know the tolerance better than I do! I got them exclusively to build one for work, so the overall quality was sort of a nice surprise. If you really love a good sound profile, they may not be as fun. That said, they "sound" as good as something silent can sound.

    Just ordered a keyboard worth of the Silent Frozens and 10 Silent Bluish Whites to see how I like those too, looking forward to making another board! I have the U4s and some Boba Gums in two other boards and there's a lot to love but also a lot I don't. Namely, with the U4s they have that ting when you tap them and the tactility is maybe a bit much for me. My Gums feel like a bad batch honestly, really scratchy and inconsistent even after re-lubing. @yensteel หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've been confused with the Jades (Said to be v3) and the Cream Yellow pro (V2). What's the main difference? The V2 had a difference in lubricant over the V1, as the V1 was thicker and slower.

    • @albertko1
      @albertko1 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@yensteel you pretty much said it, if the yellow jades don't have spring/leaf noise then they are superior to the Cream Yellows. The Cream Yellow V2 decently lubed but even with proper hand lubing, they have spring and leaf noise. Yes, I did try all the different tricks to lube the leaf and spring to quiet the noise. It's in stark contrast to other silents like the TTC Frozen line which even dry doesn't really have spring or leaf noise.

  • @earljaycaoile5071

    I had assumed the silent frozens were quieter than the silent bluish whites because they’re more expensive (hence, the premium build) and they don’t have a tactile bump. That might still be the case, but it’s a really small difference. If anything the SBWs seem to have a higher pitch rather than being louder.
    Also the Venus and Neptune switches stick out like sore thumbs here. I know they weren’t meant to be specifically silent and I love the sound, but not quite sure they belong on this list…

    appreciate your doing these roundups / showcases of switches in different categories! Just curious, is there a reason you use an aluminum plate for silent switches in these comparisons? I’d assume folks pursuing a silent build would go with a material like PC that’s less resonant, though I acknowledge it’s likely PC wouldn’t accentuate the differences between switches as much alu.

    • @milktoothnu
      @milktoothnu  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The idea behind opting for a stiffer, louder plate is to show that even with such plates, silent switches remain silent, indicating that the silencing mechanism works regardless of the plate material. In practice though, for extra noise reduction, definitely use a softer plate instead!
