I've figured how to make these switches sound better! You need to have switch films and go ham on lubing the springs! Check out my Zilent V2 review to hear a similar sound signature. The loose housing makes the switch all the more worse :(
I loved your reviews and they're so detailed. Also I think I'm gonna buy the durock dolphins, was really into aliaz and zilent but I believe they're overpriced a little. Thank you so much for the high quality videos!
Hey Rom! I just caught this video. Do you still recommend the dolphins? How much lube for the springs to make it sound better? Which films did you use? Thanks!!
Super helpful. Helped me steer away from either.
One nit: O rings only help with downstroke noise. Those of us looking for really quiet experiences care about the upstroke as well.
I believe all Durock switches are made by JWK. Durock is just the Vendor/Reseller for those switches.
BTW, looks like you can get unlubed Dolphins for $0.75 each, which is a better deal for folks who are just going to tinker with their switches anyhow.
where @?
I am so glad you made this video. I wanted to get the Dolphins, because they are easier to get a hold of then the Cherry mx silent blacks, which I have been craving. So now I will defintely try to get a hold of the silent blacks, thanks!!
You're the only one i found that went into a deep dive deep enough to notice the loose caps and consistency issue. Subscribed!
I have Zealios, Zilents and Roselios and haven't noticed this issue on any of them. I just lubed up the Roselios and they are quite nice.
Can you compare the zeal zilent v2 and the gazzew boba u4 switches? By the way, awesome video.
When i really think about it, its pretty funny that a line of switches manufactured by gateron are pretty much the most expensive switches
Anyone know if the Gazzew Bobagum stack up to these?
How do these switches compare to Inks Black Silent? I'm deciding to buy with these 3 in mind
I have just started typing, which website would be the best to learn typing fast?
Subbed! Great stuff! Any tips on making my drop alt high profile quieter?
Dampening foam!
What microphone u use... Sounds good
I really wish you did an MX zilents instead of roselios because I wanted to see which sounded more like topre
Can u also compare the silent alpacas
How would these compare to silent alpacas? Which ones more quiet and “thoccky”
Have you tried Gazzew bobagums? I mainly use them and I enjoy them quite a lot! They're cheaper than Roselio/Sakurio and Dolphins as well.
I have not! I'm currently trying out the Boba U4T and I'm really liking them. I'll have to test out the Bobagums in the future.
Silent switches strongly needed "more free" cap holding because top rubbers can damage when caps pulling off. This type of problem in Gateron silents. I used gat silent for year, and by first i hated them for scratchiness. But by the time I stop notice that, and they starts more smooth too. They got pretty long travel by the feel. Now I use Dolphins and they super mooshy, sound bad, flat dampfers and oil prelube make nasty sound, shorter travel, wobbling... I will wait, maybe they get better over time.
Did they get better?
What about silent gat black ink or silent alpacas? I know those are both kinda the same, but they are definitely cheaper then the four here.
*than the four
Silent Alpacas are just better quality Dolphins. And Silent Gat Inks are pretty quiet overall - a great alternative for sure.
so my question is, do you need a specific keyboard in order to plop those switches or can they be pluged into one so long as its made by gateron? seen how they also made these switches?
You need any hotswappable keyboard that uses mechanical switches.
@@Romsicle ah ok, thanks for the info.
If you filmed either of these, would the scratchiness go away do you think? It seems the issue is stem/housing wobble
Major improvement after using switch films - worked amazingly well with the Zilents too
67g are good for caveman typing (just my style)
Very informative review.
what about the silent alpacas? do you think it will be worth considering
I've only heard things about them, so they should be pretty good. The Silent Alpaca is also made by Durock, so I believe it's just a better version of the Dolphin.
You can't compare the sound of a 67g with the one of a 62g. The stronger the spring, the louder. Also, O'rings give a really mushy feeling that you don't have with the Roselios.
which are the best silent switches in your opinion? I get annoyed by sound really easily so silents are the only option for me
I'd recommend Silent Bobas and Durock Dolphins. Decent price with a nice muted sound
I would agree with you - I find there is not much value for money because of the inconsistency & higher price tag.
Nice
would you reccommend mx silent reds along with the blacks
I have MX Silent blacks and they're great. So yes to both.
Hmm but, ive always used mx browns. For gaming and office combined. I see u are an experienced typer. U still like tactile more than linear for typing or no??
I don't really have a preference, but I find it nice to have a tactile bump when typing slower and use linears to type really fast.
@@Romsicle Tough one, im typing about 105-110 wpm average on typetests on tactile, you think it would be higher on linear? On these boba's i type abot the same as on mx brown, but with higher accuracy. Browns usually 95% and these 98 or 100%
I find the boba's too heavy tho, so I ordered some 40cn springs, hope that would make them feel faster :(
@@richburmond6761Fast speed is relative, so your WPM is slow for me. I can type 165wpm on linears and a little lower on tactiles. At high speeds, tactiles start to limit your wpm.
@@Romsicle daaaamn , my max on a 15 second sprint is 125 wpm, but higher than that is a no go. So linears wont really do much for me then I think :o
Yooo im first, great stuff and super helpful
how are these compared to the silent alpaca switches?
dolphins are the silent alpacas
@@adxm0382 no the ain't. I have Silent Alpacas.
@@ksaweryglab it's just a different color but the Same switch
Please dont put ads right after sound tests oh god my heart.. 😰
Blame the automatic ad system LOL
What keycaps is he using?
GMK Dots
is there any real differenc ebetween orings ?
Yes, they have different thicknesses
@@Romsicle think we need a test vid...
Where did you buy that shirt I'm not asian but i love me some noodles I NEED THAT SHIRT
why is ur spacebar so rattly??
What's with the fringe? Are men doing bangs now? Is this a 2021 thing?
GMK dots!? sheesh i’m jealous 🥵
They’re fake: th-cam.com/video/8i1b0Z1PsY4/w-d-xo.html
But he did say he was thinking of getting the real ones if it comes back for r2.
That's right! I've already bought Round 2 - it came back in February!
I found a way to get the roselios very amooth and thoccy. I uploaded a sound test. :)
60g+ actuation is waaay too heavy for my liking. Another great video though. Love the channel.
67g are the sweet spot for me, both tactile and linear
these two are 60g+ bottom out.... actuation is near to mx reds
*Laughs as I swap 100g progressives into my Roselios*
bruh
I see you are using text out of translated chinese manuals
