Those HPL guitars are good campfire guitars, I don’t worry about the environment that I’m playing them in as much as natural wood ones. Maybe it’s just me🤔 . thanks for the fun week of living vicariously through you two👍😎👍
I have a Takamine with a thousand different tropical woods (1983), total bling bling, a cedar top, sounds great. But it had so many cracks and falls apart if the dampness isn´t correct. As a campfire guitar I would use my Japanese or Korean guitar (plywood backs and sides).
Great to have you here in Texas, Ms Cindy. No need to be armed here, the rest of us are and we’ll make sure you’re safe 😁. Some beautiful examples of some great guitars. I have the IBG 45, but it’s the Indonesian made, before they moved operations to China. Mine is outstanding. Someday I’ll pick up the Trans-Acoustic that Yamaha has put out. I love that concept. Great upload, Ms Cindy 👍🏻
I tried a Yamaha transacoustic at a local guitar store near me and it was really pretty cool! It was one of the higher end all wood - cant remember the name. But it sounded nice… the one Cindy played sounded odd to me…
Thanks so much…nice to know!!! 🤣 that Yamaha was really fun. I need more time with it but it has the potential to be a lot of fun!! Glad your your traveling along ❤️
I’ve been through Amarillo and i-40. I didn’t realize you’d end up taking a turn into Texas. Nice! In fact, I think I recall seeing it off the highway or advertised by the highway - or maybe we even got off the highway for gas or to see something. The store name stands out. When you said it, I knew it was in Amarillo. I tried a friend’s Epiphone Slash J-45. It has a V shaped neck and the LR Baggs VTC. I think you’d really like that one even more - I was surprised at how supportive that neck was for a rhythm player, and it has a pickup you really like. They are around the same price as the Inspired one you were holding, and sometimes less if you catch a sale or get a deal. They come in a traditional looking burst like the one you were holding or a red/black burst. The Yamaha nylon sounds nice, but I’ll bet the tuner needs to be tightened a bit. The thin line made a better impression to me. The Johnny Cash is also nice, but I think your Woodstock Martin sounds better. Fender acoustics are an odd bunch. Some are great, others are terrible. It’s not even a question of price point or materials. I’ve heard lower priced ones that sounded better than higher priced ones. The one you played is pretty nice! Cort acoustics are really nice. The electric guitars don’t seem to have the same reputation for some reason. The first Taylor was beautiful. It better be for $6000+! 😱😱😱 The second one was really lovely too. The GT is not as much money as I would have expected for a US made guitar. Really enjoyed that one too. I’m not generally a giant fan of Taylor, but you have been showing me a lot of great ones that are changing my mind. That violin is hilariously functional! Now we need a travel guitar that size, lol.
That violin was made for children. We must be teaching our infants to play😀 Tarpleys is right off 40. So easy to get to and worth the visit. The staff are very friendly and a joy to talk with. ❤️
Cindy, I am SO enjoying your visits to these guitar stores! It is a dream of mine to do the same someday! If you get to Des Moines, IA, a really great store is Professional Music Center. Great guys own it too! They’ve got Martin, Guild, Taylor, Breedlove, Larrivee in a lovely room upstairs, plus many, many midrange guitars on their main level. Keep enjoying your journey, and thank you so VERY much for sharing these visits with us. You are an inspiration! ❤🌹
This channel has sent me down a rabbit hole of buying new guitars. This week I bought a Breedlove Concert Wildwood Pro CE (solid mahogany) and an Eastman AC822 CE (spruce/rosewood). I have 3 more on my list (Furch Baritone, Mackenzie & Marr Baby Boat, and Kurtz Koa). I also looked at the Zaar Koa, which looks interesting, but I don’t know much about them. I normally play Alvarez since I like the feel of the neck and the sound. I played a bunch of guitars at our local guitar shop the other day and I thought the Alvarez still felt and sounded the best. So, there may be another Alvarez in my future too.
The Martin Johnny Cash Dred looks to have a stratabond neck. Think it's a mix of wood & a composite of some sort. My little Martins had that neck.........never moved.....I liked them, however some folks probably don't 🎸🎸
That Fender FA-235E with the flame maple top had a nice, narrow neck which would have been a good fit for my fret hand ..... if I were in the market for a steel string guitar. 😊 It was a beautiful instrument as well. I've been watching all of these videos of your road trip and afterward I'm always motivated to practice. Yesterday (Friday) I had a REALLY good session; today will probably be the exact opposite. 😒
@@guitarnotions I haven't quit yet. I've managed to play every single day for the last six months, when I got the first of my now two guitars. But I really expected my playing to be more consistent by now. Nevertheless I'm still enjoying it. 😉 And when I have a good day, it's a REALLY good day! 😄
I have the IBG J-45 and have compared it directly with a 20-years-old Gibson J-45. The feel is very similar, the sound of the Epi is pretty close to the Gibson, it just sounds like a younger guitar. It may never match the senior model but it's good enough for me. It was made in Indonesia, factory code xxxx23xxxxx. People wondered whether the move to a Chinese factory would affect the quality. Glad to see it's still a good 'un.
Have the f series trans acustic steel string middle of the road, can also be plugged in...use it as a travel guitar...they have all solid models but wider. Great if you don't have a amp with you.. reasonable pricing....all woods run 1200.00 is. I wish all guitars had that technology....you get 3 for one in the transacustic....❤🎉
Now that is a very tough question. I especially love my Mac & Marr Baby Boat for a number of reasons it’s so comfortable and it puts out major sound it can accompany a jumbo guitar with ease. Easy to play, no buzz, beautiful to look at. Price is amazing! Now on the Furch. That baritone is on my list! I loved it. For many reasons incredible deep tone that seem to ring out. It to was easy to play. It is larger in size but I did not notice it. I definitely will be buying one. I think Furch makes wonderful instruments. I am super impressed. But I also played an Atkins 12 fret I fell in love with. Oh and the Iris guitar at Acoutic Music in Salt Lake City was so nice, not to forget the Santa Cruz and the Bedell. Bottom line they are like children - unique and wonderful. I can’t pick one over the other. You will have to try them and decide. I will say this you will be happy with Furch or Mac and Marr. Both are great!
I enjoy your show. You looked at a Yamaha slimline cutaway APX600 I believe. You didn't mention the price and I can't make it out on the tag. Do you remember that price? Silly I know because you look at many guitars. Anyway, I'll be looking forward to your next video. Thanks
Thanks. I own a sawtooth parlor model now and I enjoy it but sometimes I think the extra length would be nice. I tried out one like you played in a local store and was impressed with how easy it was to hold. I'm elderly with short arms. The one I tried out didn't sound as good as yours did though. 😂
Was the Epiphone inspired by Gibson neck on the slim side, and was the Yamaha trans-acoustic heavier than the rest of the guitars? I only ask that because I heard that the steel string trans-acoustic guitars tend to be heavier.
@@guitarnotions Yes, indeed. You need to check out the Cort Gold series if you get a chance, you'll be blown away, Torrified top, awesome appointments, I've got two of those on Mahogany and the other Pau-ferro
GuitarMoose Guitar Picks - only get the carbon fiber. They are expensive but worth it. I get the .5 gauge because it feels more like a .7 gauge. Thanks a bunch❤️
Not much there that stood out to me. I do like the "Inspired By Gibson" line of Epiphone guitars. I would love a Hummingbird in cherry burst. I had a Kasuga hummingbird copy in the 70s and loved it, even though it was all laminate. So an Inspired by Gibson epi, is on my dream list....
@@guitarnotions oh, I enjoyed the Epi Inspired by. You cant beat those for value, and the Taylors are nice. Just way too expensive to be of interest to me. It was a great episode, and I enjoyed it a lot, but not a lot that interested me personally. Thats not a negative, just a fact. Loving your adventures. Cheers.
Great video and great playing! Thanks for stopping by and checking out our guitar selection in Amarillo! 🙌
I enjoyed both your store and staff very much! Thank you for allowing me to video some of you beautiful instruments. 😀

Another great video. People ask what guitar should they buy. I tell them you need to go out and try them. So many choices at great price points.
