Just starting playing at age 72 and in one lesson you explained and made clear that which I struggled on my own to understand . What a simple approach to understand the capo ! Love you !!
For the first time I understand. Thank you so much. I took up guitar on my 74 th birthday. Been studying for about a year and a half. Loving ever minute of it. Appreciate you greatly.
I am self taught and have been playing for many years and I could never figure all this stuff out but from this one lesson you have taught me more than I ever dreamt that I could learn in 21 minutes. Thank you very much. You are awesome.
Glad it helped! I came up with the idea when I saw the repeated pattern. It only works with C and G. But if you have C and G you can play in just about any key. 😀 thanks so much. ❤️
Never had this explained in the way you have in this video. I will be listening and listening to it until I understand it fully. Great explanation, I think I can learn from you.
Its good to learn all methods. Capo has many applications. Barre chords are great to learn and so are power chords and scales. Your teacher is trying to make sure you learn all methods which is commendable but don't leave the capo out. Many great songs were written because of it. Also there are many applications for its use. Don't forget to explore and have fun with what you are learning. ❤️
Absolutely fantastic.. the most relevant lesson I've ever watched, and I've literally seen about 60 seconds of this video breaking down which chords go together. Your humility and kindness always shines like the moonlight! The 1-4-5 progession theory is the next stage of my evolution that I need to accomplish after learning a variety of fundamental applications over a 10 year window of playing.
Thank you . I have a neighbor with autism that i am teaching this would be a great way to explain this. you are the best. i wish i could give you a million likes
Thank you! 48 years ago I took lessons from a lady who you remind me of. I have always wished I had continued with her lessons longer. It's so much easier now with technology like TH-cam
Great Easy Stuff, learning some nice approaches in simple positioning of the capo for blending your music with others with creative auditioning sound. Tanks so much!
Just what I've been trying to understand for yrs. Thank you show more key progressions thank you I prayed for help and the lord has helped me find your video thank you and God again
I having been playing badly 😂 for ten years, trying to learn from utube vids and not having a clue, i have now found someone who makes things make more sense for my adhd brain, so i wanna start to learn how to play properly now and i am gonna go watch all ur vids😂 thankyou so much for being an awsome teacher, why have i not found u before❤❤❤ new sub now❤
So glad you are listening in. I just started this channel “guitar notes ¬ions” 6 months ago so I am in the early growing stage. My channel shares short nuggets of information. It might be about playing or about equipment. So as you look at the videos keep that in mind. Don't try to do too much at once. Enjoy❤️

I just found your lessons a few days ago. Your instruction is outstanding! The topics that you share are exactly I need to improve my guitar playing! Thank you! I look forward to completing many more of your lessons. Thank you!!!
This is awesome! I play flute and can play by ear a lot but it helps to know what key the guitarist is playing in. When they capo I would get lost. I also can't believe how many musicians don't know what key they are playing in. I will share this with my boyfriend and others and practice your technique myself when I play with guitarists. I'm no longer 'afraid' of seeing a capo! 😁
Yay, this is the video I requested! Practical info gives us a way to make sense of it all - a starting point, if you will. The theory stuff can come later. I can’t wait to try this out for myself when I pull the guitar out shortly, but it really makes sense even before I take the guitar out so long as one can remember the rule of thumb that you provided. I might even try to make a little chart. Your practical approach reminds me a bit of statistical logic, lol. It’s like a fill in the blank formula of sorts that I came up with to explain how to write a hypothesis correctly every single time while I was tutoring college students in sociology - my former professors couldn’t understand what I was doing to get some of these struggling students to understand, so when I showed them my very practical method, they “borrowed” it for their own classrooms. 😂 I hope we can review more capo stuff at some point. This lesson was extremely helpful. We should all know how to use a capo confidently rather than having to rely on tablature to tell us where to clamp it or having to guess. Capos are underrated. Some people feel like using them is cheating and being lazy about retuning the guitar somehow - usually electric players feel that way. I don’t see it as cheating. It’s just another tool. Actually, it takes less time to retune a guitar, which leads to playing faster. Some people also don’t know how to use a capo without throwing the guitar out of tune. That’s why I love the D’addario NS Pro that can be dialed in and is low profile. Whether it’s acoustic or electric, I’m never out of pitch. You get a feel of how much to tighten the capo’s tension depending on the neck and string gauge. Lighter gauges on electric necks would require less tension than acoustics, of course. Thanks again for helping me out and getting me started with getting a handle on how to make use of a capo in a realistic playing situation where a key change is needed. I never see anyone explain how to use them, so I really appreciate it!
What a great, simple explanation! I never knew where to place a capo unless someone who knew would show me where to place that dog gone Capo. Thank you 👈🏽👍🏼👍🏽
