Scouting Guide for When Your Scouting Sucks

- I try to make a lot of videos that help you scout as well as possible. It’s hard enough in Football Manager even with me guiding you, though. Sometimes your scouting reports keep coming back terrible, you cannot sign a good scouting staff, or the FM gods just hate you and you can’t afford anything I’m talking about. So, it’s time to get into some alternatives to the scouting life I usually recommend. How can you find players to make your football manager save better without doing anything I’ve ever mentioned before, and with healthy finances in FM?
It’s a hard enough question to answer without taking into account teams that have no money. You also need people that fit your tactic or fit what the board demand of you. Ok, all those reasons, new scouting tips, and you’re still reading the description. There is a whole Football Manager world out there and you just want to sit here and read this when you already know what the video is about. I kind of love that energy. As someone who had to sit through the old FM Base, pre-Reece days to get good tips on Football manager, the improvement you have made is absolutely incredible. 100k is completely deserved. These videos are always entertaining and super helpful. Reece has mastered pacing on the edits and Zealand has mastered talking and explaining in an engaging way. I would say 'Sky is the limit' but not even the sky will hold you. I've appreciated it before but this video made me fully realise the progress. You truly are the FM Senpai.

You turned scouting from the least favorite to the most favorite aspect of the game for me. Keep up the good work!
Manolas is actually one of the quickest CD's in the world, just shows you how the game nerfs physical attributes once players pass 30 years of age.
Good stuff. One thing I rarely see used, though it requires knowledge of when different leagues end during the year (and a little money), is increasing the "active relegation release clause" value and sorting the results by value. It's a good way to find bargains.

I remember when i was playing on my Red Star save on fm20, i sorted out MC by age (under 18),passing and long shots and bought guy from Norwich under 100k. Seven/Eight years later, i ve won CL with him being my best player and he was wanted by Tottenham and Real Madrid for smth like 25-30mil

Sneaky tip, Sign youth players as they get created in the youth intake like on the day. They won't have a contact yet.
Curious about player search - based on your world knowledge of 27% and having 27,000 players show up, that would imply a player database size of 100,000. That sounds about right, but how many players in the database did you start with? I just loaded up my save, and we have 9% world knowledge and only 7,000 players show up. I know I have a database larger than 77,000 so what is the relationship between world knowledge and database size? Any other reason player search wouldn't correlate between the two?
MAJOR TIP FOR BAD PC:
A scout need matches to be able to work.If you put many leagues as view only they will generate matches so your scouts will be give better reports(otherwise he would be scouting only matches like national team and few others). Zeeland put playable in all leagues so he doesn´t have these problem.
I usually just use international and youth teams as my scouts, scouring through for contractless players or players on end of contract (or lately players punching above their age category). Even as 4th tier in Scotland I could find a couple of international who could help me.

@@FermentingSmeg yeah they have only leaved ECA, they have also decided to sign letter of intent.
@@axeljohansson6050 Leaving the ECA means they won't be able to (and don't really have the intention to) play in the CL and EL. This ESL could definitely happen and the clubs are definitely serious
@@FermentingSmeg i don’t know if ur up to date with the news but this isn’t a fan theory, most of the big clubs have released an announcement and signed a letter of intent to form this super league

Does the number of leagues added as playable/view only affect the number of players available in your scouting knowledge?
I cannot believe Zealand missed the chance to say the surname Doudou aloud.
Lets say I send one scout to Eastern Europe but I only have the Russian league running. Will the scout only scout loaded leagues or can he go to like polish div 2 and look even though that league is only in the background and not loaded?
Do scouts only scout in nations within regions where you have active leagues with actual visible games running?

Notice me Zealand! Is it redundant to have multiple people with knowledge of the same country or does it add even more knowledge of players ? If I’m in Germany and I have one guy that knows Germany extensively vs ten scouts that have extensive knowledge , is there any difference ?
scoured the under 23's in Europe and signed a goalkeeper (north macedonian) and right back (slovakia) on free for Vanorama league, after a trial period obv.
Can you not do this on the Xbox version? I'm stuck on only getting Europe and chief scout

Zealand - I neeeeed you to help me find a filter that will show ONLY the youth players that are available to ‘approach to sign’ on a free. Always a nightmare finding great youth players that have already committed to their clubs.
guys just scout MLS lower leagues manually and u can find best young free players of all nationalities. You welcome

I've been promoted from the Danish 4th tier to the 2nd, this is despite my scouts recommending everybody who is unambitious and doesn't look to further themselves. Cheers scouts, ffs
look in the under 18s/23s of the top tier teams, they usually hoard up the best talent in a league

Exactly. My way to explain how Aa/Å is pronounced, is that it's kinda somewhere between an A and an O. Maybe that's why there is a tiny "o" above it, now that I come to think about it.

It’s 9:30 in the UK and much of Western Europe and he always uploads at this time, so I’d imagine that Zealand’s viewers are primarily from the UK since that’s also where the English-speaking FM community is most popular, so his upload times are in line with that.

Shame Ben has more or less abandoned your tactical advice and proclaimed the rest that he's completely using, hasn't saved his save! He's fully used all your transfer advice and last I saw was massively improved.
We clearly watched different videos! Ben explained exactly why he had to change tactics, and he said the advices Z gave helped a lot.
@@nunosilva8938 it was more that he said "has Zealand saved the save?.... No" when clearly outside the tactics failing (which they both agreed is more about personnel on the pitch) he followed almost all his advice and last I saw it was working great. Which would imply he absolutely saved the save. But hey opinions are opinions. Each to their own.
