So to summarise for myself 1. After turning 18, play time is the most important thing for development - use affiliate or normal loans 2. Offer players to interested teams - starting the conversation gives a higher chance for success 3. If you don't intend on using U-18/Reserve/Amateur teams for developing players (or can't afford to), don't invest anything into those teams 4. You can go 10-15% over your payroll limit, provided you have enough balance 5. Set automated training intensity to avoid unnecessary injuries, micromanage where needed. 6. You can lower agreed playing time - you get feedback whether it's a good idea or not 7. If you're in a UK league and can't get a work permit for a player, loan them out to one of the top 8-9 leagues in Europe 8. You can see the player's interest in a transfer 9. Don't use the tight marking option in tactics, unless you have the right players for it 10. Know the rules of the leagues you're playing in

Problem was the work permit situation, loaning him out actually helped as he went to a Franch club and is starting every game with them and now he's got his permit after returning to the club.
The moving players to affiliates is a good option as opposed to more regular loans. Out of curiosity are the commercial affiliates actually worth getting? Is it possible to see how much revenue they generate and if they effect sponsership or other less predicatable revenue?
I know they def do affect the scouting knowledge because I signed lots of wonderkids from portugal without the league loaded up (i partnered up with Benfica)
SI needs to add an option to set player training load to what your physios recommend automatically. There is an option in that page to set them to physio recommendation, but you’d have to do that daily which is just silly.

Regarding #8. If I want to sell the player and have accepted the bid from another club I always send the player down to the reserves or youth team. I can't for sure say it works every time but I sure feel like the players are much more likely to accept that he is done in your club and accepts to leave. Because when I'm not sure if I want to sell the player or not I keep them in the first squad and it's much more common for me that these players reject contract offers from bidding clubs.

Squad is firing on all cylinders. Then the Chelsea job opens up. Being the curious guy I am, I want to see how big their transfer budget is. I applied for the job, purely out of curiosity, with no intention to leave Tottenham. They fired me faster than I could say “snickerdoodle”. It still haunts me to this day. Could’ve achieved great things with that Tottenham team.

Yesterday, I did the same thing in my save with Pachuca (Mexican League) I applied and was interviewed for AC Milan job and got away with it, they even offered me a new contract to deter interest from AC Milan! I guess you need to have a great relationship with the board so they don't get that upset! In my save, I've been there 4,5 years and won 7 trophies so yeah my job is pretty safe (tbf it's too easy to win in that league)
i have to disagree about using your reserve team. it's absolutely vital for managing fitness and match sharpness and bringing back players from long term injuries, and the coaching staff are available for all three of your squads. unless you're really struggling for money it's a huge weapon
Yeah, I use and abuse the reserve team. WHEN there is one available. Some leagues like the Serbian league have no reserve league, so it's either U18s (where no player above 19 is allowed) or you are fricked.

With playing time, if the player is in a bad run of form, this can be used to suggest a lower playing time successfully… persuade will work as there is an option about form as a reason to reduce playing time. They’ve always accepted this as they don’t have a foot to stand on!
How does loaning out players compare to having a B-team in the league structure? For example Jong Utrecht, and similar type of teams. Because I mostly stick my not-yet-homegrown players in my B-team, winning Keuken Kampioen Divisie year on year with my U21 foreign wonderkid army, while the homegrown players get loaned out.

That means you dont need affiliate club to loan young players to increase their playing time. You only need affiliate club for scouting and commercial purpose.
What is/how significant is the difference between a player being loaned or moved to an affiliate in a lower division vs playing u23/u21 football? Is there a tangible way to compare the strength of the league without going through each team and just checking yourself?
The best way is to have U23 who played in 2nd division regularly, you can loan 25 youngsters at once there winning the 2nd tier league every year and develop your players
Be careful with not filling B teams or amateur teams while having a full U18 or youth team. Those B teams will play "ghost" matches in some leagues/countries and if they aren't full they'll use u18s for them. Even if those u18s played the day before or have played 2 matches in the same week. I had a promising 16yo ST played over 300 min in the same week because I didn't have a ST on the B team and they were playing games that don't show up anywhere other than reports-form on the players that played in it.
I use tighter marking with narrow defending and high press in order to reduce spaces, force mistakes and time with the ball for my opponents. So far is working
Providing tactic advice would only help someone if their team was the same as yours. To Z’s point in the video, asking a bad team with slow and unathletic players across the board to gegenpress extremely urgently while also tight marking is a recipe for disaster if they are playing a better more athletic team.

Since the board isn’t willing to expand the number of coaches for my senior team I utilize the u23 coaching slots despite having no player in the u23 except a couple of senior squad players not featuring regularly. I’m kinda “Brentfording” it by not having them in a league instead playing friendlies against similar or higher repetitive teams a day after the senior teams weekend game
What about the second team? Many clubs has the second team locked into playing in a league below (Or lower if it's doing badly). I usually try to make a one player pr. position second team. They can use the younger players if anyone is hurt. Loan out the "weaker" players, so you are sure who get to play every week on the second team, only loan out quality prospects to other teams in your league. One exception is loaning out a player you want to force playing in a different position than the second team coach would choose for them.
I usually offer my 18 year olds with no playing time to every single club in the top flight if I'm an established team. Usually at least one of them ends up bidding for the player even if there was no interest. I make sure to send them for 2 full seasons though, with a recall option, so they have time to settle and train better.

I love to loan players out. I will only loan players out for 6 months at a time and review his progression before I accept an offer for another 6 months renewal deal. After I've built my u23s, those that aren't close to the first team, don't fit the way I play, I loan out with a view to make a profit after 2 seasons minimum depending on development.
About the amateur team, when you are in that dead zone where the young players are not yet good enough to be played at a simulated club, is it better to keep the youth teams and let them play friendlies ?

Great video! However, there is one more thing that people should be aware of especially when they start a game. Always check your promises!!! Go to Home>Promises and see who expects what. If you ignore them you can lose a good player very easily.
Anyone else ever had a bug where on actual playing time it reads surplus’s to requirements even though they are starting a lot and the player says he is happy with being a regular starter but also keeps handing in transfer request because he isn’t playing 🤦🏻♂️ sometimes I hate FM
Generally if it reads surplus to requirements it means you have set that by transfer listing the player at some point. Once you in transfer a list a player you need to additionally readjust their playing time expectation
@@SimersFM no that was the first thing I checked. The game had deffo bugged out on different pages where you can find the same info about actual playing time it was saying different things for this one player and like I said he was a regular starter and I only agreed squad player.
A fun fact about rules: In FM, Brazil have two nations that have his players conseiderer as a nationals strightfoward. Syria and Haiti. So on that we have a Football academy called Perolas Negras that works in haitians Football that plays in the regular Football pyramid (the second division of Rio de Janeiro state, if i'm renember well). Once a player makes an apperance in the swiss league they are registeted for the entire season ever if they are sold. I wish i knew this before i accepted a bid for a key player then not being able to register a replacement.
I never know whether to have my good youngsters (under 18) to loan them out to lower league affliates or just keep them in my U21 setup. Or even bring them to the senior team and just make them available for the U21 games.
I did at 1 point use my u23s as a money making tactic a Tuesday night friendly at home used to bring in an extra 10k a month or so but si patched it so I couldn't make any money off it

Don't lose sight of the fact that it is a game and has scripted events. Get to know how your team reacts to what you say, which ones they like, which ones will make them lose confidence and which ones will make them overconfident. Sometimes you have to say and do things which don't make sense, but keep pushing that button.
Yeah, the most obvious of this is the pitch side shouts during a game. I’ve learned that some things I feel are good shouts IRL at certain points are DISASTROUS in FM. Most should almost never be used. The rest can only be used in specific situations. I used to just not use them as it wasn’t worth the risk. I’ve now mastered it from experience and I use between 2 to 6 shouts a game, depending on how well/badly it’s going.
Is anybody else experiencing a bug where board decides to build a new stadium and then they just search for the new ground for years without ever making the stadium? Happened to me on a couple of different saves ;/
I feel like that is happening in my Dortmund save. I've been there after they made a major drop in 2044 and I've been there for almost 20 seasons. We have been building a stadium for atleast half of my time at Dortmund, and we are still planning it and trying to search for a spot. I don't understand it :(

I think add a setting for age groups too. I’m sure it was tested that u23’s develop better on normal intensity and o23’s develop better on double

I wish the devs make it possible to stop players retiring. I got Thomas Muller retiring at 34, like wtf?! They should make it possible where if one was to offer them a lot of money it could convince them to backtrack on their retirement plans.
Only loan players out to clubs predicted for finish top 8 of their league. Much more likely to play well and improve quicker

Go to Home>Promises and see who expects what.
If you ignore them you can lose a good player very easily.
Anyone else ever had a bug where on actual playing time it reads surplus’s to requirements even though they are starting a lot and the player says he is happy with being a regular starter but also keeps handing in transfer request because he isn’t playing 🤦🏻♂️ sometimes I hate FM
Generally if it reads surplus to requirements it means you have set that by transfer listing the player at some point. Once you in transfer a list a player you need to additionally readjust their playing time expectation
@@SimersFM no that was the first thing I checked. The game had deffo bugged out on different pages where you can find the same info about actual playing time it was saying different things for this one player and like I said he was a regular starter and I only agreed squad player.

Once a player makes an apperance in the swiss league they are registeted for the entire season ever if they are sold. I wish i knew this before i accepted a bid for a key player then not being able to register a replacement.

Yeah, there's a part of the website you can put teams you definitely don't want.
I never know whether to have my good youngsters (under 18) to loan them out to lower league affliates or just keep them in my U21 setup. Or even bring them to the senior team and just make them available for the U21 games.
You can transfer list and move them to under 23 to force a player to leave the club. Just make them mad
I did at 1 point use my u23s as a money making tactic a Tuesday night friendly at home used to bring in an extra 10k a month or so but si patched it so I couldn't make any money off it

Yeah, happens to me a lot. It’s usually when the player is too good for the club. You need to get better affiliates.

Don't lose sight of the fact that it is a game and has scripted events. Get to know how your team reacts to what you say, which ones they like, which ones will make them lose confidence and which ones will make them overconfident. Sometimes you have to say and do things which don't make sense, but keep pushing that button.
Yeah, the most obvious of this is the pitch side shouts during a game. I’ve learned that some things I feel are good shouts IRL at certain points are DISASTROUS in FM. Most should almost never be used. The rest can only be used in specific situations. I used to just not use them as it wasn’t worth the risk. I’ve now mastered it from experience and I use between 2 to 6 shouts a game, depending on how well/badly it’s going.

Is anybody else experiencing a bug where board decides to build a new stadium and then they just search for the new ground for years without ever making the stadium? Happened to me on a couple of different saves ;/
I feel like that is happening in my Dortmund save. I've been there after they made a major drop in 2044 and I've been there for almost 20 seasons. We have been building a stadium for atleast half of my time at Dortmund, and we are still planning it and trying to search for a spot. I don't understand it :(
