Beautiful part of the country you live in and great for winter camping. Thank you for taking us along with you, keep that camper and those cameras rolling!
Lol. My own private lodge, like a boss! Love winter trips. This winter was awesome, so many of the parks were empty. It's like people don't want to experience life at 30 below zero. Thankfully this video wasn't that cold.
Another Texas guy...lol. Yeah, we're not accustomed to that kind of weather but we appreciate seeing your winter wonderland through your eyes. Now we "can" relate to that hearty breakfast cooked over a campfire. Keep up the good work, Kenny! We appreciate your channel!
Thanks, Stephanie. Initially, I started the channel because I love going on road trips. My girlfriend and two daughters are usually too busy working, so I travel solo 90% of the time. The channel was started so they could follow along with me. I am surprised how many people have joined in along the way. It's really cool. Thanks!
great video!. Seeing you drive down the snow covered rd to the different lakes is great. I read some of your other comments and I am glad to see that you plan to keep the truck camper going all winter in MN. I'm eager to see how cold the nights get and how you deal with them. I will try and implement all of the tips and tricks that you always show us viewers! Your channel and subscribers are really growing fast, keep up the great work!
Thanks! It's been down right chilly the last few days. Lows in the -30s and highs around -10. I just finished helping a friend install a deisel heater in his ambulance. I think I'm going to install one in the truck camper. That thing puts out some real heat!
I was really wanting to tie it in. I installed a Fass Fuel pump a few years ago. It has left me with an open return line that I could tap into. Also, I have found an area where I could mount a fuel tank. It's on tomorrow's video. I have been busy at work and not had a chance to get out camping since the Christmas video. So tomorrow's video is installing a diesel heater in the Ambulance, plowing a few driveways and figuring out where to mount a diesel heater in the Truck Camper.
@@KennyOfAllTrades tying it into the fass fuel pump would be ideal. And if you could design the system with some type of quick disconnect for the fuel line so when you take the truck camper off you can just disconnect the fuel line to the heater and take the camper off just like your trailer lights. Can’t wait for the next upload!
Good morning Ken I was a little late seeing this , but never the less nice video, I cant wait to see some of your trips in your home state this spring with some of those beautiful lakes and hopefully the state bird on some of those lakes I could listen to them all day. Gonna try to keep the channel going all winter long. Last year I parked it in covered storage. The prior I parked it out by the garage. The bad thing about putting it in storage is once it goes in I could not get it out until April. I did not do any winter camping last year, I'm not doing that again.
@@KennyOfAllTrades we "fans" enjoying watching all your trips and I bet winter camping is fun too, especially since you have a 4 season camper which is a bonus. Would you try it in extreme cold conditions? I think you said you have a Mavic air?
Yup, the plan is to continue camping all winter. So far it's been a mild out. It dropped below zero when I was out at Rock Lake but otherwise it's been in the teens at night. I do have the Mavic Mini 2. I was using it on the last two videos. I found that it does not like the cold weather. Once it gets below freezing it starts to act up. It has stop recording mid flight and had some serious issues, like not responding correctly to the direction of travel that I give for the controller. I noticed GoPro also hate the cold weather. I have to carry multiple batteries in my pocket. When it's below 20 degrees I have a recording time around 15 to 20 minutes. If I let the batteries get to 20% there is a good chance the unit will lock up and lose all the SD card information. That has happened several times. I think lithium batteries get don't work well in cold weather. That is one reason I have not made the jump to putting them in the camper.

When I was about 12 or 13, my parents took a vacation up the North Shore Drive from Duluth to Thunder Bay. I had heard there was some great trout fishing in Minnesota, so we took along some fishing gear. Raised on a big muddy river in Missouri, the majority of my fishing experience was river fishing for catfish and spoonbill. Being an only child, my parents let me bring along a friend on the trip. I chose my best bud, Terry, who was my river fishing friend. Once in Minnesota, we got our temp tags, my Father, Terry and I headed out for the north shore. Unfortunately the place we ultimately chose to fish was not the best one. The stream coming down from the hills was too small to support trout and by the time we hiked up to where it was big enough, we found ourselves on a high overhang looking down at the stream. The good news is, there were tons of trout swimming in the stream below. My plan was simple. We would gently lower our flies down to the waters surface just as if we had cast it there. It was a beautiful plan but one that evidently I had not fully explained to Terry. I could already taste the fresh mountain trout, cooked up light and flaky with just a touch of lemon. Each man feverishly worked on his tackle in preparation for the slaughter. It would be like shooting…well fish…in a barrel. Bzzzzzzzzzz….KER-PLUNK! I looked up from my tackle just in time to see Terry launching the trout fishing equivalent of an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile at our unsuspecting aquatic prey. What was he planning on doing, clunking the trout on the head? Now, it’s been a few years since that day and things get foggy with time, but I have this picture burned in my mind. I see Terry standing there with rod and reel in hand looking dumbfounded that the trout would disappear quicker than a biscuit in a boarding house. I can’t be sure, but I could swear that I remember his fishing reel smoking!
