I prefer the natural sound, engines and ambient noises, people communicating. Not a fan of music in the videos. All in all, I enjoyed this video, the narration and the build tips
As a women into cars I agree with these types of videos. Although informative I would've liked to hear more sounds of nature/snow and engine. I wish I could off-road my crv would need a lot of work to do that
Dude, the editing of your trip reports is getting to be absolutely top notch. That section starting around 8:00 is fantastic, with the interior shot, the shot from the front, and the drone footage, all with the interior audio. Just great.
It’s nice to see your shop efforts being used on the trail. You could do more of these and I don’t think viewers would complain. And, the NO MUSIC portions were a nice change.
My friends and i used to have a cabin in the woods miles from anywhere. Winter was the best time because no blackflies or mosquitoes. The most exciting parts of the weekend was the getting in or even out again through the snow. Your video brings back all those precious memories when men were men and four by fours ate snow.
This is the kind of vacation I would book. You're very fortunate to have a group that likes to do this type of trip. All I ever hear is crying when we get 2 to 3 inches of snow.
What you said at 10:15 to 10:36 is exactly how I feel when I take my 2nd gen Cummins dually off road/mudding and camping with my friends and family or sometimes alone. Even just driving the ol girl is smiles per miles. Good video man.
11:50 Dude, you are literally just the best possible friend. I'd pay factual money for a friend like that. What am i talking about? "I'm GLAD I'm HERE instead of THERE" while you're spending effort to help someone out instead of being at the front where you could be. That's the kind of thing the "right person" says to another. Keep it coming man.
Snow wheeling in the PNW is one of the best things I've found. It has completely changed things for me. It's one of the few things that let's me fully be present. It's hard to explain until you get out there. Love the content buddy. Hopefully this season is incredible!
39s on a D2 is crazy, that thing is an absolute weapon! Now I feel that I should've put bigger ones on mine. Love your approach to traction control first, the system on a D2 is very impressive for a car that came out 25 years ago. Always great to see Land Rover love across the pond
Man snow sketches me out so bad but I REALLY want to travel in it more. It’s so beautiful. Thanks to videos like this I can experience vicariously. Super sick adventure my man. That powder looks amazing
It was a great trip! Snow should sketch everyone out and It needs to be respected like the Desert. If you don't bring the right gear, you can definitely die out there. BUT with the right gear, Preparation and team of friends it's hands down one of my favorite environments!
Snow, just as sand or any other backcountry terrain needs to be respected. You should always have the proper gear, knowledge and training or you can definitely die out there. With: 1. The proper gear 2. Preparation 3. A team of others, that you know and trust (if you're not experienced, you should not travel alone.) it's hands down one of the best and most enjoyable elements in which to adventure!
@@bsg2580, tire chains do nothing in the kind of snow in this video. Tire chains are fine for packed and slippery snow on maintained road surfaces, but are completely ineffective in deep powder. They would only serve to dig the vehicle in deeper and get it buried.
@@NOMADPLUSOFFICIAL these guys are ballsy running in such deep stuff. I would want taller narrower tires I think. Something! Anyway great video- we all need a little of this in our lives.
Grew up in Central Washington and now live in N.E.Washington at 3000' elevation. We didn't have big tires maybe 33", ran some crazy homemade chains too with our rigs and I had my trustee warn 8274 with steel cable. Ahhh that was snow wheelin' back in the day!
Well done look like you all had a good time spending times with friend is priceless also decompressing from the day-to-day work week is also important. Thanks for sharing.😊
When I was in Jr High my family when to Seattle worlds fair in a Series IIA Land Rover we decided to go see Crater Lake. It was paved road with fresh powder. We were first to go up in morning. The snow was above the stock Rover bumper and stayed between the snow fence post every 40 yards. We stopped at lodge and totally surprised snow plow operator who spent the night. Nothing like your trip but pretty neat especially with the snow plow driver explicit remark. “How the heck did you get here this morning and don’t start down for 45 minutes.. it was still snowing
What a great memory! My early travel memories were in Europe in the back of my Dad's Datsun king cab lol. We called it Dan the diesel. It would have been a lot cooler in a Series 2a lol.
I really appreciate that you show you were able to do that with KO2s. Everyone bashes the KO2, but I feel like a lot of those people do not fully appreciate the driving skill to use them to their full potential. We ran them for years snow wheeling in our basic build offroad vehicle. Yes there are better tires for strictly snow wheeling rigs, but for an all round overlanding rig, the KO2 does a fantastic job in snow aired down, and driven properly.
The KO2 is the best snow tire in the US because of 1 main reason. Size. I've seen other snow specific tires that have better technology. Specifically, 3d siping. BUT at the end of the day, tire size matters... alot! Firestone makes a tire that has an unbelievable tread pattern, 3d siping, and other tech that I would love on my rigs. But the biggest size they make is a 35 in that tire 🤦♂️. I've tried a bunch of different tires in the snow, and I have found that the 39x13.5 r17 ko2 is the best because of the combination of size and a tight tread pattern. Everything else this size is too aggressive to hold onto snow. And everything with a better snow pattern is too small for our trails. But I'm hoping to see some more competition in the big a/t space 😁. Because when tire companies compete, we win.
Man, I wish I had the time and funds to go overlanding again. This is my dream trip and it makes me sad that due to financial limitations, I won't be able to achieve this any time soon, if at all. Awesome video and looking forward to more!
Man, what a trip it would be to go on one of your trips as a passenger. I don't have a rig capable of going where you go, but I think it would be a total blast to experience it with you!
Thanks, you just reminded me to check my airbags. For some reason, in MT with my much heavier truck, I got used to snow bridging (higher or moderate tire pressure), different tires in those days. Snow was drier, your snow still looked a little on the wet side.
Thanks for sharing your day snow trip with us! I really loved the drone shots up above and in front of your rig! It was cool not to have foot prints in the snow as you drove forward! You should make an insulated cover for your smoker to keep the heat in and not burn up soo many pellets.
This video brought back so many good memories of when I was young. I grew up in Vancouver, B.C. and my buds and I all had 4X4's of one sort or another: Land Rover 88, Willy's station wagon, CJ5, GMC 4X4 Panel, Jimmy's, Blazers, Broncos, Ramchargers and the odd Toyota. We loved to do the same thing, go drive up one of the local mountains as soon as the snow started and go as far as we could. No cell phones, no Sat phones, just a CB radio and a whole lot of determination. Loved your video and consider me subbed!
Thank you Nate for your love of the Land Rover discovery, watching your videos help me pick the truck to build that I got rid of my jeep to get it’s a great platform with so many options. My future plan is to LS swap it. Big fan. Your Land Rover is my favorite.

Stop thinking you'll make it to 90 without considering you may not walk anymore a decade prior. Don't take it for granted y'all. Get out there!
Epic video man! We went snowwheeling over Thanksgiving but only with 33s. Watching this really makes me want to get a designated rig for stuff like this. Loved the section without music and just HP. Gave me chills and made me wish I was out there.
Awesome trip Nate. Did you notice much difference in traction between the A/T's and the M/T's in that deep snow? I usually run the A/Ts in the snow at Browns Camp.
I am new to this channel and I am a beginner to 4x4 but I love hikeing and what works great for me in winter for 3-4 hours is to boil water and fill the plastic bottle and put it in your sleeping bag or bed. It works great! :)

Great first snow wheelin trip of the winter. I never had enough friends that liked overnight wheeling up here, Day trips were always great especially on the FS roads below stevens pass..
Suggestion: mount a light, but sturdy, plow V-blade on the front of the lead vehicle. Set the height of the bottom of it about two inches lower than the bottom of the lowest obstacle on the underside....bottom of the differentials. On the move, the blade will clear away any snow which could pile up underneath and high-center the machine. Clearance of the top of the snow with the blade would also prevent build-up in the steering gear as well. Just a thought !! Have more fun !!!!
Great job, lots of fun in the deep snow. You need tires from Arctic Trucks. I once tried a roof tent and I used the car fan heater and connected a pipe to the tent so it blew some hot air and had keep the engine of the car running all night.
Man the part with no music is just perfect, that V8 sings and is music to my ears
I prefer the natural sound, engines and ambient noises, people communicating. Not a fan of music in the videos. All in all, I enjoyed this video, the narration and the build tips
Agreed. Music is good at times though.
Love hearing the sounds of rigs blasting through snow!
I second that I only want the engines sound and natures sound don't need folks' music choices
💯

My brother Nate, my name is Andre. I would like to say that no music natural sound is the way to go. May God bless you my friend you be saved.😊
I love snow wheeling. Nothing beats going out and pushing the limits in a 4x4 and coming back with your rig cleaner than when you left
Especially the tires. Basically look brand new (other than the rock gashes and chunking) when done
That Land Rover build is an absolute dream! As I build out my FJ80, this is the vision.
Thank you! It still needs some elbow grease, but it is proving to be very versatile. Honestly, I really love this old rover.

Nice to Robbie out there in the Grand Cherokee, but I wish he would finish the XJ.
