This has been so interesting. I bought the Dermalux flex two years ago for anti aging so was only interested in using it for the red and NIR. However, as someone that has NEVER suffered acne, the break out it gave me was off the scale. For months and months the breakouts kept coming. Wave after wave, even after I ceased using the device. Now I will admit to using it excessively and for elongated periods, longer than was recommended. Could that have been the issue? What you said about using red on inflammation really struck me and now I wonder whether it’s possible I got stuck in this awful cycle of accelerating results towards inflammation and break out because I was using red. Perhaps, like you said, I needed to focus only on NIR to reduce the inflammation and THEN introduce the red once it had cleared up. It’s sat unused for two years because it terrified me. Such a waste of money. I need to take tentative steps to reintroduce it especially as you cite it to be the best on the market.
I was reading about how to use red light, and my research informed me of used without breaks, so you have to use in pulses on and off and or taking a break after 6 minutes otherwise it causes cell oxidation.. I'm glad I learned that before buying one and causing more damage
Please someone explain to me, who is spending almost £2k for dermalux flex ? I was prepared to spend £300-500 for a red light therapy device, not specifically a mask, but almost £2k????
Have you looked into the Maysama LED light panel? In particular, have you listened to any interviews of the founder? After considerable research, she specifically created this light panel to use exactly the right kind of red LED light and infrared light. I'm not the only one who has experienced terrific results.
I have a 16w led bulb with 630nm and 850nm output that is very bright. Should i use this 10 mts once a day? And should i cover my eyeballls as its very bright!
Dr Abs, what in your opinion is the most effective treatment for dented scars e.g. icepick and boxscars on cheeks? 15 sessions of microneedling did not work for me.
I bought a mask several years ago it was $90. I used it three times and noticed a difference in the lines around my mouth. I think I'll start using it again. I stopped because of illness etc also it's heavy, hard, and plastic.
I am super super glad I found this podcast. Its BF in the USA and am bombarded with LED Mask adverts so I started looking and I was not convinced because 1) FDA "cleared) terminology, so appreciate higlighting that 2) light is light abd it can damage so your response on it matters what wavelength you get(Ie you could end up with UV) logic!!! 3) was not sure about LED lights since they are everywhere so your comment on how they source LED makes sense. I mean why are medical grade tools so $$$$$ vs your Sephora product. Thank you!!!
I used a whole body LED device (Beauty angel, looks like a tanning bed) which is supposed to have zero UV. I had tanning marks afterwards on the parts of my body that touched the surface of the bed and started sweating. I am still trying to remove these tanning spots and I immediately stopped using the beauty angel.
I have to wonder why is it when someone asked you to compare Dermalux Flex to Celluma Pro why not tell us why you are not a fan? I really wanted the pulse feature which Dermalux doesn't offer. I had several questions for Dermalux and their response time was less than wonderful so I am concerned about any kind of service issue or technical support they would be able to provide for units sold to Florida ? It's my understanding Celluma Pro and Dermalux Flex are the top competitors (medical grade) so if I want the pulse feature are there any other units you suggest? It has been been mentioned Dermalux is old technology and they made no changes in years which is why pulse has not been added. What's you thoughts on pulse? I wish I could find more personal reviews on TH-cam instead of influencers who in most cases are given these units I feel like biased in their opinions.
Great deep dive. Do you rate the celluma? It also seems to have some medical clearances. However, I understand the light nm range is not as narrow as the dermalux. Still learning.
I'd never rate it, personally. The clearances it has are pretty useless as medical CE is much more important. The power the skin receives per square centimetre is nowhere near as good as dermalux either.
Looks like an absolute waste of time to me. On the website they've not given any energy figures or key stats about the device. Looks as crap as most things out there to me. Avoid devices that you hold and move around - there's no benefit in such low energy devices when compared to something like the dermalux flex MD.
Ok but would you please tell me why? On the Celluma website they describe it as a better device. I really value your knowledge and don’t want to purchase the wrong device……
Dearest Dr. Abs, I always follow Your videos carefully . I had met you back in the days of the Dermalux webinars that I have followed carefully in the past. In fact, over the past few years, I have become passionate about photobiomodulation. For face and neck I have been using Dermalux Flex once a day for 30 minutes for three years now. For the body I purchased a 1000 led 5 w dual chip red and infrared light panel , which I use for 20 minutes (ten minutes front and ten back). Dedicating myself to photobiomodulation therefore costs me a daily sacrifice of 50 minutes in total . I know that the dermalux flex is certified medical device, while the body panel is not . The question I wanted to ask you is as follows : do you think I am doing well to devote myself daily to photobiomodulation? I am 50 years old and very healthy so I don't have any specific problems. I am doing it with the hope that I can always be well for as long as possible and slow down the as much as possible aging . What do you think ? Do you think the platinum led or Mito panels give any benefit or are they useless in your opinion ? I would like you to talk about them in a video of yours soon
