The Class Protector Award scene is one of the most memorable and poignant of the entire series. I love it! And Buffy really needed that right now.
10:58 he is not saying he doesn't want his life to be with her. He is saying that he doesn't want her life to be with him 😢
Playboy edited out the big scar on Charisma's stomach from when she was impaled. Which is a bummer because if I had survived impalement, I'd want everyone to know.
Oh I cracked up when you put that bird in Bel's open mouth. That was hysterical. Keep going with those funny graphics! I love angsty Buffy.SMG is such a great crier.
They really do the best edits on this channel.
I wonder if Tucker had any family.
I wish he didn't...
"Class protector".
Yeah. I still tear up at that scene.
Buffy getting the Class Protector award makes me cry EVERY SINGLE TIME. Without fail. It just moves me. ❤❤❤
I did not go to prom, so thank you for sharing the joy of your photos, heeeeeeeee. 😘🤗 Can't wait to see your new reaction room! Hope you both had a very Happy Thanksgiving!
The Class Protector presentation gets me every time too.
Party like it's 1999.
I caught tthat too. Lol.
I think the biggest drawback to any vampire/human lovestory is the immortality factor. He's going to remain young and she's not.
The score for this episode is just fantastic.
I know! I was worried about copyright so I had to mute some of it. But yes, it's great!
Getting dumped in the sewer is appropriate but got to be the most painful.
Angel looks so uncomfortable when Buffy is basically talking about partially moving in... It would probably have really cramped his broody style.
Sexy, Prom Giles is top 5 sexy Giles looks for sure.
As y'all were discussing Joyce talking to the adult instead of Buffy, suddenly I wondered... did Joyce ever know how old Angel really is? Because if she did, she must have thought he was a super perv, going into a relationship with her TEENAGE daughter
Joyce was raised in the 60s/70s. I could explain the culture around age gap relationships in those days, but I'd rather not if you don't mind.
You got me interested in the "broken-ribs-day-of-the-prom" story then just left me hanging!
Happy Thanksgiving sibs!
I don't remember how he broke his ribs, but she just went to the prom with her friends. The end.
Not the best story I've ever told but, there it is. Lol.
Thanks david!
Great reaction, as always! Your little additions that you edit in always crack me up. And I can't believe you both graduated in the 90s too (also '93 here!) - would've thought at least ten years later!
Spoiler:
Since Belinda is so invested in the Angel relationship, can't wait until she sees *that* episode from Angel season 1! 😭
Wow! Thank you!
'I will remember you' is up next to film. We were going to watch it last week, but she was having a rough one so I decided to give her a few days before I made her sit through that one. 😭
I love the Grr Argh with the umbrella!
Can't wait for the whole Anya process 🤣
I love rewatching this show, so important. Every episode has a funny, interesting or chilling scene. We will remember forever the characters. This season is my favorite, a lot of strong episodes. Even if four next seasons are great for characters development, creative episodes, and storylines.
Yay people in my generation seeing buffy for the first time! I'll be watching all odd these reactions.
Happy to have you Jonathan! 🤗
I have a theory that even if Angel did have sex with Buffy again, with the thought that he might possibly loose his soul and go evil and what that might bring bouncing around in the back of his head I doubt he would be able to reach the moment of contentment needed to break the curse
Since Bel doesn't read these...
Angel: "I'm leaving. I got a show set in LA, I'm getting a pay hike and get to be the main character! Babe, sorry, but I can't stay here playing your immortal nighttime boy toy!"
Cordy: "Why would anyone want to stay in Sunnydale?!?"
But Sarah and David have the best chemistry...
Very sweet reaction! Such a great episode.
Joyce is a single mother and Buffy's all she had. LOL for four seasons anyhow.
I was Bel when I first saw this ep, when you have a love as strong as theirs it just seems like they could work around the difficulties and them splitting was so frustrating but I get it, sucks but I get it. Sucks bad 😞
The class of 99 as the lowest mortality record of all time just let that sink in
Don't forget to take the curtains to the new space!
Oops. I may have left them where they were. Got new curtains, but they don't have constellations on them. 🙁
Bel looking super cute, Harley Quinn vibes, you looking fab as always - that color is great on you! Looking forward to this; one of my favorite episodes of S3 let's goooooooo❤❤❤❤
Seriously who does both of y'alls makeup? The looks are giving slay.
Buffy (and Bel apperently even though I have no idea what she said to cause the joke) is in such denial over how her relationship with Angel has always worked that she'll throw The Mayor's truthful words under the bus because he's a bad guy. It only adds to how much of a "swoony little schoolgirl" she actually is, despite trying to deny that, also. Her entire relationship with Angel consisted of her being underage and in high school, her and Willow gossiping about it, having underage sex with Angel who statutory raped her, and ignoring the things that adults (The Mayor and her mother specifically, but even Giles, Willow, and Xander to some degree) always brought up that were going to be roadblocks to the relationship. On top of all that she'll age and he won't and all Bel's suggestions only come with more problems that would be immpossible to deal with long term.
Joss Whedon has stated Xander's a write-in as who he is as a person (the BtVS Honest Trailer found the audio clip of him admitting that). Remembering his quote saying that was a realization as to why he bothered me so much even before Joss was outed. In this episode, my two issues with him are: the fact that he could have been a decent guy by buying Cordelia the dress if it weren't for why he was at the store in the first pkace. It clearly wasn't to buy anything, but to be rude to her. I think he shows the growth, but it comes because he was being rude six months after cheating on her. He should be leaving her alone. He also makes himself a hypocrite by complaining about Angel, while willing to date Anya, even if it's just for one night.
A lot of people roll their eyes at the fact that Tucker was turned down, but I look at why he was turned down. In high school where you live is just as much a key factor for bullying as being a geek or nerd and he has that working against him also. It definitely doesn't gives him the excuse of sending Hell Hounds to the Prom, but it gives more insight into Tucker's character just through visuals. As a loser of some kind Tucker's breaking point was whatever teasing came after being turned down. It was too much on top of whatever teasing came before.
You're right about the practicalities when it comes to Buffy and Angel. That's why Joyce goes to Angel about said practicalities, instead of her daughter because she doesn't want to break her heart again ("Becoming, Part 2", "Dead Man's Party").
Xander, Tucker, Jonathan, and two future characters are DEFINITELY write-ins for JW, which inadvertently started this bizarre, anti-male nerd/geek crusade within feminist circles (the Isla Vista killer didn't help things either). I'm just glad, as a nerd, a writer, a genre TV fan, and a Zack Snyder fan (a REAL feminist), karma bit him on the rear.
@@Madbandit77
every character is a piece of joss whedon, because that's how writing works. it's not just the negative aspects. but by all means, trumpet the superiority of zack snyder's fascist vision.
@@sirmoonslosthismind Zack's not a fascist, you silly pipsqueak. Also, I know how writing works, but JW made his fantasy world all about HIM and used feminism to "get some". So, STFU.
Buffy needs a stable, normal man in her life.
Like me...
Or at least this was my train of thought when I was first watching this as a teenager. 😂
Some very funny comedy moments in this episode especially when Xander says to Anya when the says she hasn't got a date for Prom and he says ' it must be your sales pitch ' Xander shows he still cares for Cordelia by paying for her dress. The interaction with Joyce and Angel is very interesting and Angel knows deep down she's right. Overall the story of the episode is pretty weak, only saved by Buffy's Oscar type award at The Prom at the end, the schmaltzy tone works so well. Sarah Michelle Gellar said this was her favourite scene from the whole show. The last two episodes season finale are such a step up from this you will love them, parts 1 and 2 of finale are brilliant!
It's Sarah's favorite episode of the show since she didn't go to her high school prom because she had to attend the Daytime Emmys, where she won one for her work on the now-late soap opera, "All My Children".
Xander is such a hypocrite for constantly complaining about Angel being evil and then dating a former demon that is possibly even more dangerous if she goes bad again
Do you think Anya is evil? She is a force for vengeance, and has very strong morals, only taking vengeance on behalf of wronged women. Not exactly like Angelus, is it?
@@lawrencegough Agree - I don't think Anya is in the same class as Angel. And D'Hoffryn took her powers away, apparently permanently. And Anya probably told Xander; otherwise I can't imagine him dating her.
@@lawrencegoughshe does whatever is asked of her, never mind the consequences. She mamed and killed, which is already disproportionate in many cases. On top of that she didn’t care what happened to bystanders. Remember the wish? Demon Anya is probably the biggest villain in this show.
In the Wish she had no problem with all the countless women being slaughtered in her new universe and then hinted to Giles she murders people by her own hand just for summoning her@@lawrencegough
Up to this point, who did Anya kill? I’ll wait besides her power only comes when people say a wish. So blame the people who wish around her. 🙄
I hadn’t realised Bel was such a Bangel fan. Wtf is her T-shirt? Bring back the hooker T-shirt!
Like Giles, I went to an “all male preparatory”, or grammar school in English. No, Giles probably went to a public school.
Frankly prom looks pretty hideous. I’m with Tucker!
Blueberries don’t really exist in England. Our scones just have raisins. And lots of cream.
LOOL! Bel will probably put that shirt in my coffin just to ensure that it haunts me forever! What? NO Blueberries?! That's rubbish in'it?! 😆
