It's wild how much this show evolves as it goes on. I can't imagine this episode being made at any point but the first half of season 1 when they're still playing around with what the show will be.

Just watched miss congeniality 2 and kate is in it as a cop or fbi .i think she might like being a cop haha
Fun and entertaining reaction. Angel has the difficult task to follow BTVS, set itself as its own, and keep the Buffy fans and try to being new ones to the network. They did a den good job in doing there original job and then succeeded in making Angel an independent story with fewer connections to Buffy. It may sound not too difficult now but in 1999 it was labeled foolish.Buffy was the biggest hit on the WB and their launching pad to relevancy. Angel was very different in most every way to Buffy, David Boreanza was still an unknown to be a lead for a show, and to have the protagonist be a Vampire that has been evil and killed a beloved character just over a year earlier seemed impossible. Add to the fact many of the Buffy fans did not like the way Angel left Sunnydale lead most of the television critics to predict the show would fail. But,like BTVS it defies the mainstream media predictions and goes on to carve a successful place. It was soon to be the most popular show on the WB and when cancelled it was the second most watched show on the network.( Story about the cancellation is murky but probably was about money and the network and Joss really had developed a personal hatred for each other) Enjoy the ride with Angel.
I think the early episodes of Angel were actually quite good, and actually I preferred the style of Angel, and I love BTVS! The Detective Agency was a great idea to forge Angel's character. You could feel the attraction tension between Kate and Angel as the season develops. The comedy surrounding the business cards was actually very funny, ( butterfly, lobster ). From the S3 BTVS episode Amends, you can see that Angel is determined to do as much as he can to help others and atone for his previous sins, and in his own show this arc is developed further. I read they had to re-shoot a lot of scenes for early episodes as it had a bit in E1 where Angel was licking blood off a carpet and the WB objected to this so they had to tone it down. This was very much like an X-Files type of episode, with the monster of the week etc, Directed by James A Contner who Directed one the best X-Files episode in Soft Light, he also did many BTVS episodes also. Still a great follow up to City Of. Believe me the show just gets better and better. Great to see you enjoying it. Angel absolutely is a brilliant show in its own right I hope you stick with it, the way this show develops is amazing, S5 of Angel is off the charts.
The PTB don't start out strong with showing the group anything but a bar. Considering where the episode goes I understand they couldn't show a single person as it jumps bodies, but showing what it does or the act of gross-ness it does along with the bar could have helped a bit.
I know it's because the villain's a body-switcher and because the audience sees things from The AI Team's perspective, but Kate doesn't even seem to have even a theory on who the killer is, let alone a suspect.
I was waiting for Bel to react to what most people consider the gross-ness of this episode. I wasn't disappointed.
Elisabeth Röhm, who played Kate, left this show to play ADA Serena Southerlyn on L&O.
I forgot the AtS teaser trailer for the next week's episode showed footage for both episodes of the crossover. Now I'm curious if the BtVS teaser trailer did the same.
She played a DA on Law and Order. Her character got fired after she came out as a lesbian...
