my dad called me babygirl. the one name i HATED people calling me, but when my dad said it it was different. it was sincere. the last of us had been a special game and series to me since i played it in 2013 when i got it as a bundle with the ps3 he gifted me (my dad) for christmas. along the time i was playing it, he would watch me play and he soon got into many other games i played. he loved just watching me have fun and play the games i liked. it’s most of the reason why i am a streamer/youtuber now. i wanted to be part of the reason someone smiled that day or any. anyways - i was adopted when i was a baby. joel and ellie’s story just resonated not just for me but my dad. we were not blood, not the same race even. but we were, without a doubt-father and daughter. we got to playthrough the second game when it came out-he actually gifted it to me as a surprise when it did. we got to experience the transition into the television series when it released. he loved all of them. it’s been a year and a few months since his passing, and all i gotta say is thank you to everyone involved in the last of us. i got a tattoo to remember him by. it’s ellie’s tattoo from the second game. this game changed my life. i hope my dad would be proud of who i am today. edit : i wanted to add on that i hope that i can get to meet troy, laura or ashley someday. they’re literally my heroes.
I wisg I could play this game again, the way I played, on PS3, in my old house,in my old bedroom, on my old TV. To me this game is an entire part of my life.

Seeing not only 1 but 2 characters dealing with the death of their dad's helped me so much in ways I can't even fully describe in words. The Last Of Us is my favorite video game series of all time and Ellie is my favorite character in any game movie or show.
10:56 The way Troy chokes up on his own words makes me tear up. That scene hits hard for normal people, but as a parent, it hits like a train, shattering your soul into pieces.
I never played TLOU myself. I watched it on TH-cam on a whim having only heard the name. I watched Jacksepticeye’s playthrough of the entire game within two or three days, binging the entire thing because of how hooked the story had me. The day after I finished I went to talk to my dad about it and how perfect the storytelling was, and how incredible the VA was for the game it felt like watching a TV show. As soon as the actual show was released I forced my dad to watch it with me and being a filmmaker himself told me that he never would’ve guessed that a video game would tell such a great story, and that the people that worked on the game should be proud. Every single person that worked on it created a story that I personally believe every person should experience, whether that be through the game or show some they’re both phenomenal.

Such a great actor not gonna lie i have replayed tlou about 8 times and each time I cried when Sarah died , Bravo Troy Baker 👏 , When I saw him in the show I literally screamed “THATS TROY BAKER”

Every single time I watch a playthrough of TLoU, I’m left in tears. The story, acting, music, gameplay, all of it comes together perfectly to tug at your heartstrings. You might not be an old man that lost his daughter during a zombie outbreak after he lost his job(all on his birthday, might I add), but the game knows exactly how to put you in his shoes anyway. THAT’S immersive gameplay.
There is no worse fear for any parent than to lose their child. If anything were to happen to my little boy I can't even imagine what I would do. Then Last of Us 2 gives us the opposite end of the spectrum of what our children would feel to lose us and broke me almost just as badly. These may be the first games I go back to when the PS5 pro comes out. Great Halloween games and great to sit inside on a cold night with.
Troy's role as Joel is probably my favourite performance of any entertainment medium on screen, or at least top 3!! To say he did an astonishing job is an understatement in my book. Every word, every move are perfectly tuned and performed in a way that is emotionally provoking. What an incredible work.
Great video. What can I say… the cast did a stellar job across the board. This franchise is spectacular and a true labor of love for Naughty Dog. Now we need the third act to bring it all together.
I've played the first game so many times, I was able to replay it on ps5 recently. I loved the small changes to the scenes. Sarah's pained face actually shocked me when i saw her, something that hasn't happened since i first played.
Video games have made such a huge impact on my life from when I was a child to a grown man it’s unreal. TLoU hits so close to home being a father makes me great with every choice Joel made. Thank you naughty dog and the actors behind the games they made. I named my second daughter after two of there greats characters every. I named my daughter Elena “Ellie” for short, because I hope she will be strong like both of those powerful and inspirational lady’s from those games.
I’ve played that prologue 3 times, including once last week, and I still teared up just watching it in this video. Darn you Troy! But seriously, your performance is my absolute favorite of any voice acting I’ve ever heard. And I’m from Texas so I appreciated the authenticity of the inflection and demeanor. I don’t personally have a thick southern accent but the nuances in your vocal choices really rang true for me and people I’ve grown up around
I watched this right before I was about to go to see Gustavo Santaolalla live. The Last of us got the biggest reaction from the crowd. This game will live forever.
I cried when I first played Sarah's death scene. I cried when I watched that death scene in the HBO series. And now, dammit Mr. Baker, I cried watching YOU watch that death scene.😭😭😭 man I love this game.
The Last of Us is truly a gem of all Video Games. Beautiful game and the shows rendition of the game is amazing, the changes they made I loved, especially the story of Bill and Frank. I cant wait to see what they did with Season 2. The Last of Us 2 was very under appreciated, and knowing how well they adapted the first game I bet season 2 is going to give part 2 the love it deserves.
I feel like every actors new project teaches them something but i feel like this project taught Troy maybe the most out of his career so far it seems like this game broke him down and beat him up but he never gave up. Thank you Troy
That scene with Joels daughter really hits hard very hard played the game many many times and will do again many many times into the future one of the most ground breaking games ever made even when it first came out on PS3 the sheer impact on what the PS3 was capable off was insane for its time heck i must of brought the game 7 times already, You played Joel so well we all fell in love with his character even to the point of us fans kicking off due to what happens in future. Troy you played a wonderful wonderful part that will go on for decades. Thank You!!
It's really emotional to see Troy Baker talking like this. When I saw Joel die, I felt sad and depressed. Like a good friend, someone close to me died. The game itself is dark, and after most game sessions I needed to chill out my mind. Sometimes in between the days I played some other less dark and sad games like Astrobot. What a wonderful job they have as actors for games or the people who create great storylines. This is something that resonates with me and will look if I can also put my creative energy into the creation of storytelling/cinematic games.
I honestly hope TLOU is one of those games that's constantly getting a facelift with every next generation, it's such a well-crafted game that'll hopefully outlive all of us in terms of legacy so future generations can see what gaming should and can be.
I love this game and its sequel so much. What I also love is how different Troy is from Joel in every way. He truly is an amazing actor and you can see and feel the passion oozing out of him. What is also admirable is the way in which he speaks about his fellow cast members and Neil; the love and respect he has for them. Troy Baker is a remarkable person.
I haven't played this game. My sis did. I stopped playing video games and I became content with watching my younger sister play growing up. But we both became adults and we got no time to sit down and play with me watching her play. So I watch TH-camrs play instead on my free time and I came across this video. I loved that you shared the difference between you ten years ago and now. Sarah's death scene was gutwrenching to watch. And your hopelessness and desperation to save her made it even more heartbreaking. You were so great in there. It made me teary-eyed. Again. Cheers.
This is the game that truly opened my eyes to the art of voice acting and motion capture. I wish there was more behind the scenes footage. Can’t get enough of commentary like this The actors that played in this game are absolutely phenomenal.

The Last Of Us Part 1 for its time it was just a masterpiece in terms if graphics, story, voice acting, motion capture, gameplay. And even after 10 years it's still my favorite part. That story surpasses Hollywood movies stories. It was a brilliant job from every aspect from all of you and the whole team Troy. Ashley did nailed it too! You guys are professional with all the meaning. The same goes for the Uncharted. I am glad we are getting a perspective from your side who you are one of the most important persons out there due to your work in the game industry. Thank you for this video Gamology and Troy.
Oh this was one of your best videos. Seeing Troy still be so deeply moved by some of the game just shows how powerful the writing and acting was. One of the best games of all time. I loved it so much I bought it all three times lol
I would actually really love to hear his thoughts on Part 2. Not even just simply his smaller part in it (although story telling wise, a massive part). I would love to see his reaction to how the story ended and the conflicts along the way.
11 years later and THAT scene with Sarah still makes me cry. No matter if I’m playing it or watching it. Or even if I’m watching someone watch it. It still transports me back to 2013 me sitting in my apartment alone and sobbing the first time I played that scene. One of the most powerful moments in any media.
Troy, dog.. you have me bawling my 31 year old eyes out man. I’m no father just yet and to be honest, I didn’t know I wanted to be a father for a very long time. What I did know, was this scene was going to make game history from the very beginning. I was barely coming out of highschool when this game came out and as an aspiring filmmaker that was also addicted to progression of storytelling in video games, i was completely oppressed with the amount of realism and emotion and care put into the creation of this story. There’s so much to this story that has broken me over and over again and I couldn’t even make sense to it. Every evolution of this story tore me to pieces over and over again. Each time I would reflect on myself as a person. A brother, an uncle, a son. What is life truly about? Family, right? How do we cherish our family members the way Joel does in in his very last precious moments with Sarah? Thank you for sharing this video with us. i’m truly grateful and blessed and i’m trying harder everyday to make sure i’m not taking life fir granted. Everyone pI encounter in life is precious to me. But it’s extremely hard to burden that kind of love towards everyone. What a challenge, thank you. 🙏🏾
I have never been so emotional moved and touched as playing this game. The scene when Sarah dies is the most difficult and I cry every time. The narrative of this game is beyond anything that I ever seen and the acting is astonishing, if ever thee best I have seen. Thank you. I would love to see a reaction to the TV series as well.
Yesterday, I finished my first ever play through of this game, and I gotta say, this is definitely my favorite zombie apocalypse game, the gameplay was so fun, the characters were like perfect, Joel felt so cool, the visuals were unbelievable (I played the remake) and the story was so good, at the end of the summer act, I said to myself, I’m gonna cry by the end of this game… I did not but after the fall act I did feel pretty vulnerable, no tears were shed though. Last thing I wanna say, the winter act felt like it’s own story, we start at humble beginnings just hunting in the woods and then we run into this guy who end up being a twist villain and we end the act with this big climactic battle and it ends, this game was so good, and the ending… the ending was so good cuz it made me realize what the story was all about… I’m not gonna say it cuz I’ll probably sound stupid… so yeah, it’s a pretty good game
I remember meeting Troy at my first big con, Rose City Comic Con 2017. Man had nobody at his table at the time, which surprised me. He was super nice and very thankful that I even bothered to say his music was great. He signed my original copy of Last of Us on PS3. It was awesome. Legend in the voice acting industry.
Thanks for your part in making this game Troy, I've loved playing video games since I was a 5yo in the early 80's and this is one of the best games I've ever played. It's a fucking masterpiece. Well done dude.

I love the part where the truck goes through that building when the guys are trying to stop/rob you. So brutal and when that music started playing I went full primal.
That scene when Sarah died had me in tears, snot running and just ugly sobbing the whole time. Same for when Joel saved Ellie at the end. 😭😭😭 I was running through the hospital with tears running down my cheeks blasting every firefly I ran into. I wasn't even playing stealthy anymore. 😅
22:18 I think that a more believe able lie would be "We found the fireflies, but they weren't able to make a cure, so they let us go. I'm sorry." or something like that. 🙃
That intro was possibly the most emotional moment in a videogame. I remember when the game came out so many people were crying or unable to get through it. Also curious if he knew Joel would live when he got impaled 3/4th's through the game. I'm assuming he knew but not sure what all he knew at the time, sounds like time spent recording was a bit all over the place.
The scene where Joel crashes the truck will always be my favorite in The Last Of Us. Everything from the music to the QTE and the strong feeling of instinct to kick the shit outta the guy attacking Ellie. It was so perfectly done.
When Joel called Ellie baby girl, it really hit hard because I knew it was a breaking point in their relationship. Joel finally showed his true emotions because he knew what it felt like to lose someone he cared for, and he didn’t want that to happen with Ellie. So he comforted her, like his own daughter.
Really interesting process! Amazing what tech can do with mocap. Troy is great but im glad pedro was in the show bc it introduced me to him and I love him so much. And Neil is 100% to blame for all of it. He had better people than himself working with him on the first game. When the second game was in production, the other creative members were either dismissed or left on their own. Neil brought in some activist(I forget her name, but she helped ruin a couple of franchises) to work with her on the sequel. This is also a fact. If I could provide her name, you'd be able to validate what I'm saying.
As far as "take a breath" goes, think about something that you enjoy very much. Once you have that in mind, think about how you'd feel if someone came along and exploited that product for their own financial or ego stroking gain, but it left your beloved product in shambles.
my dad called me babygirl. the one name i HATED people calling me, but when my dad said it it was different. it was sincere. the last of us had been a special game and series to me since i played it in 2013 when i got it as a bundle with the ps3 he gifted me (my dad) for christmas. along the time i was playing it, he would watch me play and he soon got into many other games i played. he loved just watching me have fun and play the games i liked. it’s most of the reason why i am a streamer/youtuber now. i wanted to be part of the reason someone smiled that day or any. anyways - i was adopted when i was a baby. joel and ellie’s story just resonated not just for me but my dad. we were not blood, not the same race even. but we were, without a doubt-father and daughter. we got to playthrough the second game when it came out-he actually gifted it to me as a surprise when it did. we got to experience the transition into the television series when it released. he loved all of them. it’s been a year and a few months since his passing, and all i gotta say is thank you to everyone involved in the last of us. i got a tattoo to remember him by. it’s ellie’s tattoo from the second game. this game changed my life. i hope my dad would be proud of who i am today.
edit : i wanted to add on that i hope that i can get to meet troy, laura or ashley someday. they’re literally my heroes.
Damn. Fantastic comment. So happy for your story and so sad for your loss. He sure is proud. Wish you the best.
Sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing your story.

@@bonfiremomentsthank you so much 🧡
I wisg I could play this game again, the way I played, on PS3, in my old house,in my old bedroom, on my old TV. To me this game is an entire part of my life.
Word. I'd love to play this game for the first time again
@@JonCom3dy this game takes me back to a simpler time. A happy period of my life. Before it all went to shit.
@@danilonakazone386 life is about seasons my friend. Sometime it's bright and vivacious like Summer. Other times it's about hunkering down and surviving like Winter. Hang in there.
The Last Of Us Part 2 helped me cope with the death of my dad who died of lung cancer when I was 21. Seeing not only 1 but 2 characters dealing with the death of their dad's helped me so much in ways I can't even fully describe in words. The Last Of Us is my favorite video game series of all time and Ellie is my favorite character in any game movie or show.
Troy Baker is such a great actor, both in body language and voice. He was a very integral part of the game.
10:56 The way Troy chokes up on his own words makes me tear up.
That scene hits hard for normal people, but as a parent, it hits like a train, shattering your soul into pieces.
Same. I played this game before having kids and it was tough, but playing it since having kids utterly crushed me.
Annie Wersching was amazing as Tess. RIP Annie Wersching
Dang. Rip. Didn't know.
6:36 - I'm glad they circled the back, because I wasn't sure where that was.
RIP Annie Wersching. absolute legend
I'm not even a parent but the scene where Joel loses Sarah rips out my heart every time.

God damn it Troy now I understand why that scene is so hard to cope up.
17:08 I think that honestly made the chemistry between characters more natural. Feels like we're really getting to know them more as we progress in the game.
I’m glad Troy is just like us and still gets emotional at Sarah’s no matter that he acted it and has probably seen it 5 million times. It always hits the same
As a father of 3, and someone who’s played this game. I cried way more watching this than I’d thought I would….
Such a great actor not gonna lie i have replayed tlou about 8 times and each time I cried when Sarah died , Bravo Troy Baker 👏 , When I saw him in the show I literally screamed “THATS TROY BAKER”
This was a FANTASTIC video. Love getting to hear Troy talk.
I think one of the underrated performances in the big moment Joel loses Sarah is Sarah herself. I forget the VA but she gave the performance of a lifetime in the final scene we saw, her cries of pain are what broke me in that moment because I knew that she was going to be gone the first sound she made. In that moment, I knew that I was hooked because the acting was just so phenomenal that there was no way it couldn’t be a great game.

Troy baker is so genuine and it bleeds into every role! We love you!❤

Part 1 and p2 are pure human experiences an exploration of how far we will go for the people we love and the complexities around it❤
Just a reminder that they added a director commentary with neil and troy and Ashley in the part one remake
Troy's role as Joel is probably my favourite performance of any entertainment medium on screen, or at least top 3!!
To say he did an astonishing job is an understatement in my book.
Every word, every move are perfectly tuned and performed in a way that is emotionally provoking.
What an incredible work.
11:00 somebody put the bowl of onions away please
Idc how many times i play this that scene with sarah in the beginning of the game gets me EVERY TIME.
Troy baker is a legend 🔥 keep it up gameology I would love to see yuri lowenthal reacting to spider man
I will love if He is in The Last Of Us Part 3 like more Flashbacks
or make part 3 a dream of part 2 and then go a different way
Great video.
Troy Baker!! Amazing guy
Holy shit kid you need to go talk to therapist lol crying over a fictional characters death is a sign of a mental illness
Thank you for voicing this one man. I know you really dedicated yourself and soul to this. Especially some special scenes. I can feel it
Troy, thank you man. You’ve made such an impact on my life and I appreciate you doing what you do.
Your performance the whole gamr and during Sarahs death was so perfect, I tear up everytime I play it
I feel like every actors new project teaches them something but i feel like this project taught Troy maybe the most out of his career so far it seems like this game broke him down and beat him up but he never gave up.
@@loganbrown3334 it's definitely one of the most repayable games ever made. The cut-scenes, pacing and character work is pitch perfect.
Shame they ruined it with part two fucking garbage
obviously the thing would be phenomenal are factions for Part 1 (2023) in Part II graphics but thats gone
Troy Baker is the best! I love that he had a cameo in the show. I'm really looking forward to seeing his performance in Death Stranding 2!
Little change in the show which I like is during the Sara death seen Pedro ads the line Tommy help me which I think really captured the panic of what do I do. Also Rest in peace Annie.
“Revolver with a few bullets”
*Joel in no return with his fucking 12 shot revolver:*
This was dope. Riveting to say the least. Baker looks like he could be Benedict Cumberbatch's relative.

I never knew I needed this video until I saw it. Troy is an amazing artist and a great person. Incredible video, thanks!
Everything this man does is amazing from the Last of Us, to Uncharted, etc. His role as Matt Baker in Brothers in Arms is one of my favorites.
"Goodnight babygirl" was the exact moment I was broken to all other games...
This has been my favorite game ever since it released and to see Troy's emotions while watching the scene where Sarah gets shot just had me crying.
Man, that scene where she dies made me cry. Almost cried again now with the explanation, god this game is SO GOOOOD.
Delsin Rowe was my introduction to Troy Baker. He made me fall in love with the inFAMOUS series. I hope he does a character breakdown of him as well.
Im REALLY happy HBO picked this up and turned it into a HIT AWARD Series. Like way to go ya'll
This needs way more views
Congratulations to the editor, beautiful video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💕
One of the best games ever made. Troy Baker and Ashely Johnson are impeccible in both 1 and 2. Both games still make me cry.
LOL you guys really did take down that HORRENDOUS Sparking Zero review! 😭😭😭 they really bullied that video into no existence 😂😭💪🏽
Do Part 2 with Ashley Johnson and Troy next!
Watching him break down over a scene for a game he did over a decade ago, clearly seeing he really felt it, and still does, is amazing. mind you this one of the last games to come out on the ps3 still looked alright
The way troy cried and explained how he felt in that scene made me cry too 😢😢
I did a presentation and a research paper on AI in video games and I remember using a picture of this gentleman on my presentation. With his motion capture suit and a close up of his face with the dots. I had forgotten about him and his name. So cool to see him again ❤😂.
I love the part where the truck goes through that building when the guys are trying to stop/rob you. So brutal and when that music started playing I went full primal.
Finally hearing those exact beats Neil asked of Troy in Sarah’s death scene, thank you!!!
Rest In Peace Annie Wersching. The original Tess. She was fantastic and is missed! No one could’ve played Tess like she did.

I think that a more believe able lie would be "We found the fireflies, but they weren't able to make a cure, so they let us go. I'm sorry." or something like that. 🙃
No matter how many times I replayed this game and Sara s scream after being shot always get me in tears
11:00 even had me tearing up, when it comes to kids it’s rough explaining stuff like that whilst having your own kids
The scene where Joel crashes the truck will always be my favorite in The Last Of Us. Everything from the music to the QTE and the strong feeling of instinct to kick the shit outta the guy attacking Ellie. It was so perfectly done.
This man molded the most emotional gaming community
so grateful for him and the team for pt 1 of TLOU.
I didnt play the game so the show really hit me…the scene with sarah dying. Holy crap. i was thinking she was gonna be around for the whole show. Devastating reaction from joel.
