6:46 99% of revolvers have a gap between the cylinder and the forcing cone that precedes the barrel. This gap results in roughly a 25% loss in potential velocity from the cartridge and also bleeds hot gasses from the explosion out the sides. It is not feasible to suppress MOST revolvers, with notable exceptions being things like the Russian Nagant Revolver, which has a mechanism to seal the cylinder against the forcing cone (basically an extension of the barrel) during firing. Also revolvers can absolutely jam. If there is a problem with the mechanism, the cylinder can lock up and make it impossible to fire the gun or open the cylinder.

it's fun how he say's she didn't have to cock the hammer but later explains how shooting single action helps your accuracy which is actually the in game mechanic of why ellie pulls it if you aim for long enough. love the detail, glad he mentioned that
Plus given that Ellie is petite, reducing a few pounds of trigger tension by cocking the hammer would probably increase her firing speed as opposed to her constantly having to strain a trigger pull which could draw her off target.
*sigh* There's always one of you.....No.She.Isn't. If one of big guys get a hold of her,bye bye Ellie. Thats not to say being petite doesn't have its advantages. Being a smaller target is always useful.
Ellie in that shot did it because she had the pistol out for some time. IRL you wouldnt do that and squeeze the trigger in less than a second as it would force you to reposition your hand and line up your shot. Also a good way to get slide bite. Not an expert just a hobby.

Gun nerd time: most revolvers are terrible suppressor hosts as they have a cylinder gap, and so gas leaks out there; generally more than what comes out the breech of a semi automatic, as Lars states. Only certain revolvers, like the Russian M1895 Nagant can be effectively suppressed (by use of special ammo where the cartridge case bridges the gap, creating a gas seal.)

>suppressor >revolver Dude, you're forgetting the finger -amputating cylinder gap, they aren't sealed systems barring a few specific models like the 1895 Nagant
Well, it depends on what you're trying to silence: if the goal is to not give away your exact position from the sound of the slide and the brass with a large calibre, a revolver is certainly better. If the goal is silence over power, a small sized caliber semi-auto is far better, simply because it's going to make less noise over-all, and it's not too hard to modify the semi-auto enough to be very quite.
@@bubbasbigblast8563 Regular revolvers can't be suppressed because of the cylinder gap would allow the gasses and the noises to escape, rendering it quite useless (and suppressors send most of the gasses back to you so, yeah), Nagant M1895 revolver is an exception to this because it uses a special design that allows the cylinder and the barrel to seal the gap perfectly
Little correction there: Most revolvers are not able to be suppressed, because there is a gap between the cylinder and the barrel that prevents sound suppression. There actually are specialized revolvers for that, like the Nagant M1895.

Pro tip: take everything the older dude says with not a grain, but multiple kilograms of salt. My man really said revolvers are the best suppressor hosts and never jam, and oil filters/pillows make good suppressors. These are examples of what lads call “fudd lore”.
“Israel has gotta know this stuff right, there’s no way he doesn’t know these things” “What’s the difference between semi and full auto” “Ohhhhhh he’s just being a good host”
Revolvers have a cylinder gap making a suppressor a little less useful. Also pillows don’t reduce or suppress sound much at all. Maybe a noticeable amount but not very noticeable.
Also shotguns don’t spread that much at that range so it’s not really possible for a two kill in one shot at that range especially with that length of barrel.
Revolvers DEFINITELY fucking jam lol. And when they jam they actually jam WORSE than a semi auto depending what on the kind of jam. If it’s a debris obstruction your entire cylinder could be stuck and you won’t be do any kind of field malfunction clearing, not unless you just have your entire armorer tools on you and all the time in the world.
Not to mention that your typical revolver can't suppressed even if you're using top tier high end suppressor because there's space between the cylinder and the barrel gas leaks out when it's fired that's mean the sound still be able to leak out unless those space was sealed
A good example of this is actually Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Snake runs into a man called Ocelot several times. He keeps making rookie mistakes with his guns and Snake keeps giving him advice on how to improve with his weapons. Pretty cool scenes they could break down. One of the things is guns jamming.
12:59 "Dragon's Breath" is a type of incendiary rounds for shotguns, which are not as effective as most games show them to be, but they can set clothing on fire 😊 It seems game developers just like the awesomeness factor of the idea...

@@chrismeyers5963 he tried to say revolvers are better then semiauto pistols for being supressed, you can't supress any revolver because of a cylinder gap, the only single mass produced exception is the nagant revolver from WW2, on top of that he kinda makes some stuff up like an 8 guage firing 3 and half pounds of projectiles per shot, also he talks about the Taurus judge being effective for snakes, and honestly it's really not even effective for that if you've ever tried to pattern a judge you'd know that, on top of that back to the semiauto pistols, he talks about back blast which can be a thing on simple blowback actions but the fact that he was saying that while talking about the berrata and the fact that he later goes into mention the Browning action type means he's really just repeating stuff he has heard, with any delayed blowback pistol the bullet is longgggg gone before the slide even starts to sperate from the breach of the chamber and thus they are much more effective then revolvers that even when machined tightly still have a cylinder gap thus meaning they are bassicaly an open design, and on top of that you actually loose some feet persecond because of this (see Paul harrels video) and also, revolvers are really any more accurate then any semiauto with a single action trigger, and actually if you just shoot a da revolver in double action you can be a lot less accurate if you don't know what your doing, that's why most people who carry 1911's love 1911's, even shitty and cheap 1911's have amazing single action triggers when compared to something like a Glock which is pretty spongy in comparison (and no a Glock is not technically a single action being as the trigger actually cocks the striker the rest of the way because the slide bassicaly only cocks the striker most of the way and that the internal safety of a Glock, even if the gun does take a fall and the striker is tripped it won't have enough force to set off a round)

@@gheetza14 Yeah he's saying if you misfire on a revolver it doesn't jam because the recoil doesn't operate the gun, whereas on a semi-automatic handgun a misfire requires you to rack the slide again to clear the jam. Still, in combat I'm just gonna keep shooting and then immediately eject the hang fire when I reload.

It won't supress it fully but it would reduce the sound a bit, it would muffle the initial gunshot but you'd still have to worry about the bullet breaking the sound barrier, I don't think he meant you could substitute a pillow for a real suppressor.

Hate to break it, but I think that dude is fake, you can never suppress a revolver because of the gap between the cylinder and barrel, the Nagant 1895 is the only one that can be suppressed because of it’s complicated system which closes the gap. Well with most models, some revolver pushes the cylinder flush with the barrel and creates a tight seal as you put pressure on the trigger, thus dealing with that issue. So while it was a misstep to imply all revolvers can be suppressed effectively he's technically not completely incorrect.

@@teddycoons2976 sure he knows more about military stuff than me, but he made a completely false statement... how am I supposed to defer to his experience when he said something I know for a fact to be wrong?
When you were talking about the bottle suppressors, one thing the game did is actually animate the hole being blown in the end of the bottle with the first shot. If you angle the camera around to the front of the player, you can tell it doesn't have the hole until after that first shot.
11:37 in ye olden days, there was a shotgun called "the blunderbuss" the way it worked was you'd have paper and gunpowder, than load in a ball, then fire it, it had a massive barrel (like a trumpet) to help with the recoil I believe
I think you may be mistaken a little bit. They didn't fire a single ball or musket rather they were used more like a shotgun being loaded with pellets, metal scraps, what have you.
6:53 unless we're talking about the nagant which moved the cylinder forward and created a gas seal with the barrel, almost every other revolver lets gas escape through the cylinder gap effectively making them insuppressible.
14:42 shotgun range On my 20-in modified choke barreled semiautomatic shotgun I get on average 1 inch of spread per yard in flight, so when I shoot out to 40 yards (120ft) I can expect all of my 9 pellets (00Bk) to land inside of a 40inch circle, an average man being 20" shoulder to shoulder should give you a 100% accuracy at 20 yards (60ft)
Um no offense but in the beginning were it showed a shotgun filling two targets at once from like 5 feet away there is no way that is possible, at that range the pellet spread would be like 5 inches at most with that barrel size
Well ya see what they asked was is it POSSIBLE to take 2 out with 1 shell and that's what he said yes to it wasn't "could you take 2 people out at that exact range with 1 shell"

"The Last Of Us is a series that showcases the worst of Humanity, Sometimes zombies aren't the worst thing out there.." Perfectly well said.. The Last Of Us shows us just how dark and twisted a Zombie Apocalypse would be.. The lengths that people would go to survive.. Humans are known to be resilient but we are also known to survive, no matter what it takes. A Zombie Apocalypse would be alot darker than people think. People would do things that they didnt even know they could bring themselves to do.. TLOU Part 2 is like a Shakespeare Play, full of Tragedy & Suffering. One of the GOATS.
@Pig Mask I’m assuming the whole “1 inch per yard” thing is talking specifically about if the shotgun has a choke that’s about as tight as cylinder/skeet right?(maybe light modified?)
0:02 At that close of range the pellets would not have time to spread wide enough to hit both of those targets, unless you have a sawn off barrel, that was a full length barrel, so maybe at 40ft it would spread enough to hit both
I mean not really just basic gun stuff. The Ak (semi auto rifle) is not accurate as it has a rpk receiver but it’s a semiauto, with low capacity mag. So the rpk receiver is pointless.
It’s a myth revolvers don’t jam. I’ve shot plenty of different revolvers and if any debris gets in the action, it can stop the cylinder form rotating and opening. I’ve had this happened with some revolvers during heavy shooting sessions. Especially small pieces of lead or copper from the ammo used.

Plus given that Ellie is petite, reducing a few pounds of trigger tension by cocking the hammer would probably increase her firing speed as opposed to her constantly having to strain a trigger pull which could draw her off target.

Ellie in that shot did it because she had the pistol out for some time. IRL you wouldnt do that and squeeze the trigger in less than a second as it would force you to reposition your hand and line up your shot. Also a good way to get slide bite. Not an expert just a hobby.

Dude, you're forgetting the finger -amputating cylinder gap, they aren't sealed systems barring a few specific models like the 1895 Nagant

On my 20-in modified choke barreled semiautomatic shotgun I get on average 1 inch of spread per yard in flight, so when I shoot out to 40 yards (120ft) I can expect all of my 9 pellets (00Bk) to land inside of a 40inch circle, an average man being 20" shoulder to shoulder should give you a 100% accuracy at 20 yards (60ft)

Me: do I hear Zank screaming?
"It's much more effective to have a revolver with a suppressor"
That's uhh... not how that works
You didn’t understand what he said.
@@Seb318 no you dumb dumb, its not effective to supress revolvers as most of the sound escapes through the cylinder gap.
@@omfggala3913 thank you
A lot of these “experts” on the show say some things that sketch me out about them, but the pictures they show of themselves seem legit. It’s weird.
It'd work with something like a nagant revolver but definitely not with most revolvers
This guy is really cool I can listen to him talk about guns all day
Love how Lars says he would use a crossbow in the zombie apocalypse. Daryl Dixon the smartest character in zombie related media ever
I would have to disagree, I think that the crossbow is a complementary weapon to your main weapon.
@@Razor-gx2dq maybe a 15-21 mag glock as ur primary weapon. Don't need a silencer coz as he stated its pretty easy to make one
If you know how to use a bow is way better than a crossbow in this situation
new season this month🔥
Okay, I wanna know who the hell is playing this game. Only 2:52 in and the accuracy is almost perfection.
TH-cam user: Solid Perry
Poor pupper.
@@derpydqelinuenttf?
Sly left hand salute from the green beret at 0:28. totally knows it too.
What’s the significance of a left handed salute?
@@Ronin777zthat’s what I wanna know.
Um no offense but in the beginning were it showed a shotgun filling two targets at once from like 5 feet away there is no way that is possible, at that range the pellet spread would be like 5 inches at most with that barrel size
Why would this be offensive?
It’s possible with a GATOR shot spreader, but the gun didn’t have that
Well ya see what they asked was is it POSSIBLE to take 2 out with 1 shell and that's what he said yes to it wasn't "could you take 2 people out at that exact range with 1 shell"
Actually it *is possible, with a 1.5 inch barrel
13:42 took me a looooong ass time to get through. whoever playing this is a beast
I played on survivor and this is probably an easy difficulty
Listening to these guys talking about guns reminds me of my all my uncle’s enthusiastic gun conversations.
The person who's in the gameplay plays very well.
I love how one of them said that you can suppress a revolver when most can't and when he said buffalo they showed a picture of a musk ox.
Little correction at 8:57, the animal that they showed is actually a musk ox
Did the gun “expert” just say pillows and oil filters make good suppressors?
And that revolvers make good host’s for suppressors?
John Ferguson would like a word or two
@@assassinproject5586 i think he’d have a lot more than a word or two lmao
@@TheJeverson fair enough, honestly, this video was a bit of a joke considering I used to work on firearms myself (at home small arms repair man) fun hobby
To be fair oil filters does make good suppressors and the pillow does suppress the noise a bit (not exactly suppressor level but hey it still suppresses the sound) but yeah the revolver silencer part is really dumb
They really need a guy whos genuinely a nerd on firearms not just some old dude who got out of service 10 years ago and only had minor exposure to anything else besides military issue
Do a total recoil episode of mw 2019.
yesir!
"The Last Of Us is a series that showcases the worst of Humanity, Sometimes zombies aren't the worst thing out there.."
Perfectly well said..
The gameplay showcase is 10 out of 10, whomever was playing is a God at this game.
No way anyones that good headshots every time nope
@@ryans413 Nah it's definitely possible
Have these two legends do the metro games
I new someone who had a " 2 lb trigger pull" on one of their guns & "Crazy light" is actually a great way to describe it👍
Ya... two targets that close range is not possible. In real life, it takes awhile for the pellets to spread, so at that distance, no, it is not.
@Steven Ohakwe And even if it spreads that much, it's more likely to just piss people off. That's a very wide spread for pellets.
@Pig Mask I’m assuming the whole “1 inch per yard” thing is talking specifically about if the shotgun has a choke that’s about as tight as cylinder/skeet right?(maybe light modified?)
@@trinitussancti6448 1 inch per yard is video game levels of spread, almost impossible to do that irl
0:02
At that close of range the pellets would not have time to spread wide enough to hit both of those targets, unless you have a sawn off barrel, that was a full length barrel, so maybe at 40ft it would spread enough to hit both
The last of us has turned me into a gun nut. The love and attention to details to the weapons in the game are insane!
@Dagoth Ur cap
I mean not really just basic gun stuff. The Ak (semi auto rifle) is not accurate as it has a rpk receiver but it’s a semiauto, with low capacity mag. So the rpk receiver is pointless.
Nice pfp
It’s a myth revolvers don’t jam. I’ve shot plenty of different revolvers and if any debris gets in the action, it can stop the cylinder form rotating and opening. I’ve had this happened with some revolvers during heavy shooting sessions. Especially small pieces of lead or copper from the ammo used.
Whoevers gameplay this is, I'm impressed bro doesn't miss
John wick when he tries the last of us
22:55 when you go full meta long term for the apocalypse instead of just grabbing the coolest gun
Now react to CURSED GUNS in MW and Escape from Tarkov. I'm pretty sure they'll have a seizure, at least from the shit I've seen.
