    One of the coolest things about this movie is how well it flows.
    Things just keep happening throughout the entire movie. The music is constantly paced to tense action, only calming down momentarily when key things need to be said. Quick cuts between scenes to show them actually getting from A to B in the real world while they work out their details.
    The whole movie keeps on in that pace with only a breather or two, only really slowing briefly when they reverse-travel to save Kat, and even then it's still the Protagonist asking questions one after the other so we can get some exposition.
    I've rewatched this movie so many times now and it's just never boring. There's no dip. Even before the action picks up, it's the Protagonist quickly going from new recruit to deep into the investigation.
    The music is really great and unique, the idea is awesome, it's put together so well, and above all else it manages to be *fun* while remaining totally serious.

    Nolan gets a bad rap for exposition -- for good reasons, of course -- but I think TENET has much better exposition than his other films. In this scene, Nolan and his team combines exciting music, camera movement, non-linear editing, and brisk pacing to set up the heist.
    I've watched this film three times already, and the pacing is nearly perfect. TENET is arguably Nolan's weirdest (and even weakest) film, but in some aspects it is a vast improvement over his earlier ones.

    • @ReMattch
      @ReMattch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Which is why it will no doubt be his biggest cult classic in the next ten years. I'm fine with that honestly. Everyone can rave and rab about Inception all they want and while that is a magnificent film, this one is so much more bolder imo.

    • @MM-hk4pb
      @MM-hk4pb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The bad rap on exposition at times is overtly exaggerated. If we were to say that there might be parts where well founded complains can be brought up about it then we also have to admit some people can take it way out of proportion at the same time and their reasons could not be as valid as they may think. Dramatic ones I would say…
      I wouldn't say weakest but weirdest? Probably.
      To me, Nolan did not approach Tenet with an apparent emotional resonance at first glance as with his other works (which I feel was better that way) but a more subtle one disrupting the usual flow for this to happen, specially for a movie of this scale. It's as if this happens at the end when we begin to feel more for Protagonist and Neil's friendship, for example. Their chemistry is what the story focused on (to an extent) to begin with and then gives us the punch at the end to wonder (it depends on the person whether they want or care to do it though) about them as friends and their journey even though it's the end. Tenet seems more inspired by Dunkirk in a experimental sense (to a certain level) in my opinion.

    People need to understand that both of two things happened:
    1 - in some scenes, not hearing the dialogue is intentional to reflect the confusion of the central character (ie "ignorance is our ammunition")
    2 - many theaters straight up played the film wrong, with the speakers setup incorrectly in order to save money on replacing equipment (which is why the film is much easier to understand on TVs)
