TH-cam took form and started slow dancing with me. Soon TH-cam was whispering sweet nothings in my ear.
no because this.
I feel generally seen as a writer by what you've said you struggle with, especially with structure.
Re: sharing things being an artistic expression v social media clout chasing
I don't think photos are inherently 'art', at least not unless you've consciously constructed an 'art'ifice of some kind for the viewer to recognize as art, whether it be through the craft of your choices with the photo and experience in doing so or some such. Like, can a really talented photographer take a photo of their lunch and have it be "art"? Maybe. Depends on what they're trying to say with it. Is it a commentary on the idea of taking a photo of your lunch and presenting it to the world as though everyone else doesn't also have their own lunches? If not, maybe not.
To be clear I'm drawing a distinction between something that is *crafted artistically and intentionally* vs something that can be interpreted artistically. Anything can be interpreted artistically, the art can itself be the interpretation of the media. I'm also drawing a distinction between something that looks nice vs something that has artistic merit. Software made it so most photos look pretty good, that didn't automatically increase the amount of "art" in the world, the idea of that makes me feel very sad.
Which is to say that I don't think that, generally speaking, taking a photo of your lunch from your camera with a bunch of auto settings doing things for you is what I would consider "art worth sharing". Even if it brings you joy! You can do it just to have it bring you joy, but I don't think it's an artistic process, it's a social process. Which is to say, social processes can be artistic, but unless you're performing the art by interpreting it as such, they're generally just social processes serving social functions.
Which is to say, you're allowed to perform social processes for social purposes. Not everything has to be artistic just because it brings you joy.
same
glad to know I'm not alone 🤭
