What do you want to see next?!
I just got one of those also.i made myself a hose that fits into the hole where the plug is and put a 5 gallon bucket under the hose.
Just a helpful tip. Insert the plug from the inside of the reservoir.
I love watching people talk about their passions. It’s always so much more interesting😄
Haha I agree! It helps me get inspired myself-glad I could help! 😊
Cut, cut, cut. Nothing better than to be the first person to see the inner beauty. I noticed you pushing pretty hard. That will eventuallyake your hands tired and wear out the blade prematurely. I still find myself doing it. I try to slow down. It will take longer but not as tiring. Love the new saw. Try to stay dry.😊
Oh good to know! I will have to take it easy the next time!
@@AgateAriel Yes indeed, let the blade do the work. You will have smoother cuts and less break out, plus longer lasting blades.
Three suggestions. 1. The longer your rock is the greater the chance of binding your blade if you are hand guiding it. The same for the height. 2. Use a simple gravity siphon to get the sludge out of the well below the blade. Agitate the water with one hand while you are siphoning. 3. Dry your blade with a paper towel at the end of the session.
Congratulations you just opened a new world have fun with it 😊
Thank you!! I’m so excited!
@@AgateAriel And you should be. I’m happy for you. I got bit by the same bug. 😝
Congrats on your new toy! Happy slabbing!
Thank you!! I’m loving it so far! 🙌🤩
There's no time to notice water dripping over the feeling of excitement!
Haha true that! 😆
I really need one of these. I have a couple tubs full of big geodes I've love to slab up eventually. I'd just be afraid of cutting my finger off lol. Saws scare me. I've been enjoying tumbling smaller rocks, but I diffidently need something like this for my bigger ones. These are all so pretty btw!
I was worried about that too, but since it’s a grinding disk and not a blade you won’t cut your fingers. I have seen other creators literally touch the disk while it was running so that made me feel a lot better!
@@AgateAriel That's really good to know!
I have a 6” funnel and I got a 3ft +or - adequate length to fit the tip nicely and drain into a 5 gallon. Pull the plug and no mess to drain. I also have a 1-2 gallon shop vac to remove the sludge. I generally scrape out as much of the sludge as I can then the vac. The vacuum is handy for spills over rags. Love your videos 👍🏻
Oh that is a great idea! I’ll have to get one!
That last one was gorgeous! And the tiny little gem pocket on it was cute too! 😊
Right! So fun seeing the beauty inside!
I clean my small rock saw (6") out with a big sponge. It takes squeezing out the water a few times but a sponge and bucket makes for a pretty clean dry saw without too much mess
You can also retrofit the drain hole with a spigot - the on/off lever is a handy touch. Then drain into a 5 gallon bucket.
Oh good ideas! I will have to see what I can come up with!
Congratulations again on the new saw! And those were some awesome cuts! Rogue really sent you some awesome material! Have so much fun discovering the hidden beauty inside rocks!
Agreed! It was so kind of him! I can't wait to cut even more!
The red one at the very end was beautiful. Like to see it slabed.
i want one tooooooo
Right!? I was so excited to finally get one! I have so many beauties to cut in the future! 🎉
Oh My Gosh! I just found you! I saw one of your vids on Google; I'm ecstatic. I LOVE rocks, and the rocks I just saw you cut open are beyond beautiful. I did sub so that I can follow you on utube. Thank you, Ariel; let's get cutting...❤😊
Awesome video! Stunning rocks and slabs! The new camera quality looks great, too! ROCK ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️
Thank you! I am working with a new camera and mic so I'm hoping it is not too finicky but so far has been going well!
@@AgateArielAwesome and have fun!!
Congrats on the new saw! 👍😃
WoW!! Stunning 😍!
The last one made me think of islands 🏝️. I’m looking forward to seeing more cuttings. And even possibly tumbling from the smaller pieces. I would love to get a piece from you.
Oh it totally does look like an island! Yes I might be setting up an Etsy shop soon! 🙌
@@AgateAriel that would be awesome. 👍😁
I use a wet saw daily . I've got several and change the water if the pump stops working or I move to another job site. Don't worry if you leave the water it won't hurt anything. Never got a address to send you some rocks from Mississippi. I find putting my saw in a kiddy pool saved a ton of mess
Oh that is a great idea! I might have to start doing that 🤣 Yes sorry about the address, I haven't setup a PO box yet but I will let you know if/when I do!
Excited you have a saw now!
Love your channel and so happy to see that you now have a saw. Nice job... nice rocks ... and can't wait to see future videos.
Thank you so much! Yes I can’t wait to play with it more! 🙌
Get a 5 gallon shop vac to help with water removal :)
Oh that's a great idea!!
I am sooo happy for you!
I really enjoy your channel. ❤
Those turned out great!
Thank you-and thanks so much for sending them to me! 🙌☺️
Happy for you.
Thank you so much!
I'm so excited for you! These are so beautiful!
Thank you so much! I agree!
Awesome, i want one now. I have a bucket of rocks that have been waiting for a couple years. Oh, a little flashback to your labradorite video. I saw someone using corn syrup in the pre polish and polish stages to keep them from banging around too much, plus they also sent it through a 1000 grit stage. So it went 80,'220, 600, 1000, syrup and pre polish, corn syrup and polish. Imma try it on randos that aren't as shiny as I want first to see how it goes.
Oh wow I have never heard of using corn syrup before! Might be something to experiment with!
When you get a good place exposed, make a slice thin enough to let light through.
You should attempt to reach out to Dan Hurd! He has a big setup for slabbing. Great video! :)
Oh I might have to do that! His videos are awesome!
He seems to be a great guy!
It's nice to have a trim saw like this. I cut tons of small rocks on my trim saw
congratulations on the new slab saw, you did an awesome job. are you going to be tumbling some of the smaller pieces can't wait to see what's next.
I definitely am! So many possibilities!!
That is awesome love those rocks!
Agreed! They look so awesome when cut!
Yes spread joy and delight. May you always beam forth the thrills of the revealing of nature’s hidden beauty.
These rocks would look so good polished.
I love rock cutting videos! Subscribed. 😊
As you're draining the water, you can put a pencil or straw over the opening pointing down into the tub. That'll help direct the water.
Oh what a great idea! Thank you!
@@AgateAriel you're welcome! It's what I do when pouring candles to prevent wax running down the container I'm pouring from. It helps a lot!
Love the channel. Fellow Minnesotan here. Have you ever shared places you go to look for rocks? We just started but don’t really know where to start
Now that you've started cutting rocks you won't stop🙂
Haha so true! I have SO many I want to cut!!
@@AgateAriel Just imagine how the Ancients did it
Congrats on the new saw Ariel! I got the same saw a few months ago along with the 8" flat lap. I was so excited for my first cut. Like you, I cut a few so-so rocks for practice. Fearing what happened to you, I plan on putting a ball valve in the drain port.
BTW, Ariel means lion, or lioness of God in Hebrew. My boy kitty shares your name.
I love rocks as well their so còoooooòollllll i have to pieces of jasper
Two
They really are!!
5:40 On camera, that super white bit is super violet. You might want to check that one under a black light.
Whhhhatt! That is so cool! I definitely will!!
I love your excitement you are amazing is your personality this spunky too? Love to listen to you.
Fun! Can’t wait for my saw to finally get here!
Yes!! You will have to keep us updated on how it goes!
Wow fantastic video thank you can't wait to see more
looking good
Thank you!!
Make sure to be plugged into a GFCI outlet especially with an extension cord on the floor.
Alaska is watching = ]
That’s awesome!!
Alaska here, too!
I am envious, but can't get over seeing your fingers so close to the blade, I 'll just keep tumbling!
I gotta say that saw rocks.
Haha agreed! 😆
Wow, nice saw. I have the 6 inch but I have several rocks that are too big so I will wait until I can get the big daddy!
Those lapidary saws do take forever. The cuts are cleaner but if you’re looking for speed, get yourself a professional tile saw like the ridgid 10”. Cuts are 10x as fast - a little rougher but I think it’s worth it.
I owned that same saw you have and returned it after the first day due to the cut speed and the water leakage which you pointed out.
Cool video, and so cool rocks 😊👍👍
Thank you so much!
Im Ariel too but it's pronounced like aerial. Would've been real rude of my mom to double up on the "elle" sound in my first AND middle name lol.
So glad you get to cut your rocks now! I love that kind of content.
Oh that’s awesome-name twins! Yes I love watching rock cutting so I’m glad I can now participate in it myself! 🙌
Use Dawn soap and water to clean it out.
Looking forward to see more, congratulations
Thank you!
Hi I have one of those slab saws and I put the stopper from the drain hole on the inside of the tank so I dont bump into it.
Best vids yet 🤗🤗😍😍
Thank you so much!
13:27 looks like a tree!! So cool
It totally does!! The inside of this particular rock has never been seen before until now either-I think that is so cool!
Hi Ariel, love your videos. been thinking about getting a saw, where did you get yours?
Great video! I recently got into rockhounding, and definitely not considering a saw blade for awhile, but I was curious if you were scared to use the saw? Have you used it before and have some experience or did you take a class? Genuinely curious because I would love to eventually cut some of my finds, but also scared to use the saw blade!
It's a grinding surface. It's not sharp.
So so beautiful hun. Please be real careful with your hands. Yikes, if you can wear some kind of protective gloves. If the rock snaps or the position changes , it could catch your hands. We all would not want that to happen. Home Depot Gloves 🧤❣️👍
It is not a good idea to wear gloves while using a saw like those. If the glove fabric gets caught, it can pull your hand into the saw. Ironically, I worked at the Home Depot for 15 years, and safety videos were assigned monthly.
4 eyes!
Haha right! That was a cool one!
Very cool...i want a saw like this...at 7:42 what kind of rock is that? I have a few of them and many beauties id love to saw too!!
Where can I get stones like what you showed?
Polishing will remove blade/cut marks.
You're pushing/forcing the cut. Slow down, let the blade do the cutting and youll have less breakage. Especially at the end of the cut. You cant stop all fractures but, can mitigate them by taking your time and going slowly.
I assume you could probably attach a hose to it and run the hose to a bucket
That might be a good idea!
Sweet video.. you have some cool rocks there! Please take your rings off though..
Saws make tons of sludge and it’s only worse with oil based saws. I clean my saw every two weeks. One hint to keep in mind since you have a water based saw is you will need to remember to towel dry you saw blade after the end of your cutting sessions or your blade will rust. If it’s oil based you don’t have to deal with this but the sludge gets much much worse. I would use paper towels to cleanup the sludge. If you care for your saw well it will last for a long time and treat you to a lot of fun rock cutting sessions.
Slippers make great leak detectors? 😁
Haha you’re not wrong 🤣
Put the plug in from the inside.
That second rock is the same color as Boba Fett.
Haha I never thought of that 😂
You’re so cute I remember when I first got my saw I kinda acted just like that. Also, not only your face ears and eyes, but your skin silica particles on your skin. Can’t affect your skin. Kind of think of it as if you were taking a bath full of that stuff it’s on your skin don’t let it dry on your skin rinse it off or wear gloves And I noticed that you were pushing your rock into the saw. I actually go behind the saw and pull the rock towards me. I think it works better you decide which way you’d like to do it but it’s really a cool thing I love my 10 inch saw too. They’re amazing, all right great keep doing it
I think I get that needs to have a crossover
If in Doubt, DON'T CUT!!!! WAIT TILL YOU DECIDE.
Or make an end cut to explore.
You’re not concerned about the garbage can collapsing from the weight of the table and saw on it?
I think you should slab up your rock
How do I tumble with the Nat Geo tumblr
I’ll add it to the list! ☺️
Yay
I know you are being on the safe side but do you need to wear a respirator with a wet saw? There shouldn’t be any dust in the air.
I will never fault someone for taking basic safety precautions. The wet saw does indeed minimize the amount of dust in the air, but there's a difference between "minimal" and "none", and silicosis builds up over time, and it is not curable or reversible.
@@ShawnBean every body dies sometime from something these days that was never a problem 50 years ago. To each their own
Both good points! I just like to take the precaution to be extra safe 🙂
To me this is a love hate relationship lol I love to see the beauty but totally jealous and greedy wanting all those beautiful rocks 🤣🤣
I got a great deal on this saw...Oh crap, it leaks.
I suggest Much More Practice Cutting B4 Attempting a Thunder Egg.
THEY'RE UBER HARD!
Those aren't slabs, slabs are slices of the rocks.
12:41 I don’t like that sound. I think it ain’t working smoothly, something ain’t right.
you are prettier than any gem !
I'm old fat and happily married , I'm not hitting on you, strictly making an observation.......take it for what it is, a compliment .
have a great life.
Shop vac
You talk too much
They’re rocks, not gems.
So jasper and agate are actually both forms of chalcedony! 🤎 and chalcedony is just a micro-crystalline variation of quartz :)
