I have zero interest in rocks and geodes, but TH-cam recommended your channel to me and I haven't stopped watching you since. Your excitement and attitude is so infectious and reminds me of the old days of youtube where everyone was just on here to have fun and share what they love. Thank you for the videos.
These all look like what I know as thunder eggs. Geodes should be empty in the middle, with crystals on the walls. The last one looks the most like a geode to me. They’re all gorgeous of course! Rocks! 😍
The ones you called cold maintain geodes are thundereggs..and there beautiful.. the small ones where soild geodes.. I just found your page the other day and so far I'm loving it.. thanks😊
50 yo Rockhound...before ya take more layers off , use a real bright pen light and a macro lens for a look. Should make, at the very least, spectacular glows thru crystals
I just found you and I love you!!! I paint rocks and I love rocks. You are showing me a different world of rocks!!! I love how excited and cute you are when revealing your cuts!!! Amazing channel!!! Thank you! ❤❤❤
Your videos are great! I've been tumbling rocks for about 20 yrs. I also love geodes. Seems as a kid we could find them in rural areas. We would get dad's hammer and crack them open. I've purchased tumbling rough from a local shop as well as some eBay and stay sellers and rock shows. I am going to start saving for a slab saw. I am learning so much from your videos. Big thanks!!!
Wow they are amazing. I’ve only just tonight started watching you and I am so impressed with what you are doing and the quality of what’s inside each one wow.
I'm happy you finally got a agate and it was so unusual. I always say cut, cut, cut so don't ask me. I think they were all beautiful in there own way.😊 😷⚒
I think all the rocks are beautiful. The geodes I buy and have cracked are usually rounder and I found out the lighter weight ones were usually full of beautiful crystals. Love that I came across you! New Subscriber!
That's wild, the position of the cut on the last one makes it look just like a little mini cave. I could see a miniaturist doing a "Honey, I Shrunk the Spelunkers" scene inside with bitty little LED spotlights. Need the tiniest of periscopes to peer inside. They really do look like their own little worlds. I was thinking about that during the marble video not too long ago since it popped up while I was going down the wiki rabbit hole of all the different moons in the solar system. All these celestial bodies really are some mineral marbles being continuously polished. Even the exteriors of the geodes look like some of those smaller moons and asteroids floating out there. Imagine some surprises inside those too. Now you got me thinking about a floating terrarium-like hollow asteroid that has just enough of everything inside of it and just enough transparency to let some light in for a small ecosystem.
That one you wanted to cut open a little bit to expose Mark I think I would leave it as it is and get a very small diamond bit drill through the opposite side and put a micro LED light inside mount it and make it into a nice lamp
Just cut some thin slices (to keep) off that last one until you open up the pocket. You should get a cool slice or two out of it Getting it where you want it. 😊
Ok the first one was NOT a geode. It was infact a jasper. So whomever sold it to you was mistaken and I would definitely contact them. **Edit** the 3rd one looks like a Thunderegg.
I would just take a slab off that one to open up the cavity. The slab would be great polished or you could make cabs. Don't sleep on the little clear one, see a lot of shadows there, a mirror polish will give it a lot of depth I bet.
The geodes are absolutely stunning! I do have a geod my self. Its a clear quarts geod. But i NEVER seen that kind of geod with spaggeti crystals😅, but its pretty too! I think if you would chip or cut a bit of that greyesh blue mineral it would uncover a " crystal cave" thats how i call it( its bassicly the crystal inside). Bc it looks shallow on the inside you can test it by shinning a flashlite on the rock❤
Being new to the "rock-thing" when I look up the description of a geode, I found that it must have a cavity on the inside with pretty stuff much different than the outside. I'm thinking that you can't really call it a geode until you crack it open and see what's inside. It almost seems like a scam. The ones without the pocket of fun inside are really something else??? Thank you for opening my eyes to a super neat part of what the earth gives us! Makes me want to go to my nearest home Depot and look at all the rocks in the parking lot!
The geodes we opened at a show they did with a chisel and hammer, guess that way they cracked along the weakest line, never seen them cut like you’ve done it. Interesting
4,30,24 hello! I love your videos, I'm a beginner rock tumbler, can you tell me what brand you use for the rock saw, the one that you use to cut open the geodes? Please and thank you, your fan Lisa from statesboro georgia!
A a couple of the did Nat Geos, you might experiment with trying to dissolve part of the interior with muriatic acid. I’ve seen a couple videos on it. Need to be careful with it though to protect yourself. I’m going to try on some Southern Indiana geodes I got off of Marketplace sometime. A couple were really nice even if not what you were expecting. It would be easier to cut a thin slab off of that last one with a vise and guide so you could see if you could flat polish the thin piece as well.
@@AgateAriel I picked up some acid this morning, but the local store has some only had one with some additives to make it safer, so we’ll see if it works.
How does that saw not hurt your fingers? I read on a different video that it didn't, but it looks so scary 😅 I know about using water and all, but that rotating part? Does it really not hurt if you accidentally get a little too close?
Have you ever tumbled a small geode? I thought geodes had pockets in the and filled were called something else with which name eludes me for now. However I could be totally wrong. Nice cuts.
Ariel next to last one seen a warewolf on hind legs two arms even see the ears so fascinating so delighted to hear you the last one cut a slab never seen geode form so strange contact Elley knows rocks she is a well known geologist in Arizona thank you enjoy your videos
@@AgateAriel I don’t know where you live, but I’m close enough to Kentucky to get out there on the green river, and it’s absolutely loaded with geodes. They come right out of the bank. I came home with loads of geodes and agates and petrified wood yesterday! I found petrified wood with jasper and agate! And I have another piece of petrified wood with druzy crystals all over the flat parts. I’m so glad to find other people who love rocks as much as I do! My big problem is I don’t sell my finds; I just like to look at them, so I have rocks all over the place! Gotta make a rock garden to keep all my geodes I haven’t cracked or cut yet. ♥️💨
cracking and chipping seems to be pretty common so don't feel too dishearten on your 1st one watched other "geode cutters" dont think thats the right wording 😅 but yeah they always seem to crack or chip off a lil
So geode stones that are basically solid on the inside are considered "duds" the more solid it is the more of a dud it is. For a geode that's a "nice piece" or a "good specimen" you're looking for the ones that look like cave walls covered in crystalline formations. Solid geodes though yes are pretty they are still a dud. That's the way i learned about them anyway. Other people may have other things to say about it, but it is what i was taught about them.
This is the second channel I’ve subscribed to that shares this content and I’m wondering why the blade has to be wet to cut the geodes and agates? I used to be so into this type of stuff when I was a little kid yet all the info I learned is just gone from my brain.

now go out and search for rocks
Wow thank you so much! This is probably one of the nicest comments I’ve received! 🥹

I think you are right! Definitely not what I was expecting but they were fun to cut open!
@@AgateAriel it is fun! You never really know what you’ll get!
Agate Dad might be able to help you identify what you have. He's fun to watch as well. I loved the last one. That was my favorite.
Agate Dad is awesome! I might have to ask him 😊
I absolutely love how the potential of each rock brings you joy. I wish all of us could live like this, where each day holds hope and happiness.
Thank you so much! All about a positive outlook! 😊
I would take a another small thin slice off that one. Open up the pocket.
Okay I might have to do that!
I agree with them. Just take a thin slice off. I don't think you'd hurt it doing a thin slice.
Aren’t you supposed to crack open geodes instead of cutting them?
@@cynthiagenone3436 especially like now it looks like a mythical being with a shield, just taking out a slice on the side would preserve that :)
@@sharizentz Not particularly, why would there be a rule for that? :)
Some of them look like thunder eggs. I like the last geode. Very pretty and unique.
Maybe that’s what they are lol! I thought they were geodes 😅
@@AgateAriel they do look the same from the outside 😂
I love your personality. You’re like an awesome mom and teacher wrapped into one and you get so genuinely excited about rocks. I love it.

I just found your page the other day and so far I'm loving it.. thanks😊
ooo, that last one was so cool. i've never seen those spaghetti-esque crystals!
Right me either!
Cut a 1/8” slice off to expose the geode cavity. Great work.
I might do that!
I totally just bought one of the cloud trances halves. I am SUPER stoked to see it when it arrives!!!
In my opinion, the holes are an invitation! Go on, go in!
Ohhhh I might just have to!

Last two were really beautiful!
I think so too!
I don’t know much about rocks but you give me second hand excitement. I’ve enjoyed learning here ❤
7:37 Looks like a thunderegg with small geode pocket. It also looks like a brecciated agate! They're ALL gorgeous!! SLAB ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️
Thank you!! It’s always so fun to cut them open and see what’s inside!
At first glance, the pattern inside looked like a werewolf with one arm.
I'd take a thin slice off to see. Sliced are pretty too.
Thundereggs....usually have full centers with chalcedony. Yours appear to be jasper. The last one may have a pocket, can you see crystals?
Well, everyone has already said below what I was thinking AWESOME videos! Love your quirky joy/love for ALL things rock!
Wow, wow, wow! The last one blew me away!! Love them all.

Thunder eggs mostly but that last one was my fave and I’m so glad you had one geode. Gorgeous

Isn’t that crazy! It’s so cool lol

Those last two r sooo cool xx i wold just face polish them xx you would be so devistated if you cut again and it broke xx nice job x
I know right! It’s such a tough call!
You could always use them as a Rorschach tests for geologists and all other rock hounds😂
That was a fun set! The last one looks so alien! It was like the geode had tentacles 😅
Doesn’t it! I was really surprised!
7:42 That actually looks cool!
That one you wanted to cut open a little bit to expose Mark I think I would leave it as it is and get a very small diamond bit drill through the opposite side and put a micro LED light inside mount it and make it into a nice lamp
I usually find it helps to shake the geode to see if anything is possibly trapped inside. Commonly there is, so it helps to listen.
I’m glad you got one pocket. They were all good though ❤
I am too! Can’t cut geodes without at least getting one pocket!
pretty stones, even though some of them werent geodes 😊
Right! I think some were thunder eggs 🤔
imo, yes
The second to the last one. Looks like a werewolf. And the other side looks like a bear those are my favorite ones
Haha you are totally right!
Obsessed with watching you crack rocks! Can I use them as inspo for art?
As you get you get confident with your saw skills try cutting a geodes into .25 slices so you can see how it changes throughout😊
Just cut some thin slices (to keep) off that last one until you open up the pocket. You should get a cool slice or two out of it Getting it where you want it. 😊
True unrehearsed excitement.

Slice about 1/4 to 3/8 in off
You keep the bridge and open thecavity

Just saw the video about using pebbles instead of ceramic,I have loads of sandstone pebbles, can I use them for stage 1 and 2 ?seems like it might help
what is a good saw/cutter on a budget??
I believe they are thunder eggs, agate dad does them often ❤
I agree with the previous post. If you want to open it up more, just slab it.
I may have to do that!
10:37 You should get a little camera, like the ones for looking in ears, and look inside the the little caves.
The next to last one looked like a werewolf inside it!
Cut some of them down and make some drink coasters until you expose the pockets.
