This is my favorite type of your videos: fussing through landscape, (my dad on walks, "stop fussing around in the weeds"); poking around in rocks, I like to see you finding them, (dad: "stop playing in the rocks--put those back"); washing them off to see what they look like, (dad: " does your mother know you're using her dish towels?"), then cutting them open to see inside. (dad general, repeated comment: "don't touch that.") Only thing missing is to show one or two polished to see them from beginning to end.
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Beautiful scenery in this video. It looks very serene there. You definitely look in your element. Sawing rocks... some of my favorite activities. 😊
The fact that you can spot those amongst all the gunky mossy rocks just shows how much of a boss you are.
"Nodule"?? Full of quartz?? Sure looks like that's ALL it is as quartz!!
I would have never guessed that those ordinary looking rocks would look so amazing inside!
Pocket! I hope you brought a backpack. Those were some great finds.
Always!
Man you have such good rock eyes! Even when you say there is something there I don't see it till you pick it up lol
Sometimes I wonder all the agates I miss completely 😂
🤣"rock eyes" I love it!
The white stuff is most likely a salt that precipitated out but didn’t mix into the silica. Or it is a silicate salt that just didn’t form the same as the rest of the agate. I would be super curious on its identity (a calcium salt maybe?) but unless you have access to a chem lab you probably won’t ever know for sure.
I've come across similar white substance inside geodes.
I think that was a grouse. Be mindful of the deer because they can become aggressive. Always great to explore a new stream for agates and other rocks. Thanks for sharing ❤
I’d be down to a deer tussle
During rut, that’s in springtime
The bird looked like a partridge to me. Nice finds. Can't all be winners though. Love the last one you cut.
Thanks 👍
Omgosh! They were hidden treasures. Thank you.
Very beautiful rocks you found. They look so stunning on the inside. Liked. Thanks for sharing the great video. From Jordan
It's like opening a present! So fun!
It really is!
That last one you cut is really cool! Good call on which way to cut it! 😊
awesome finds 👏
thank you!
found my first agates thanks to your vids!
Awesome!!!
All the pieces are so pretty
I like it that he finds rocks and saws them open! It’s a good tutorial for me!
😊
Loved them all 💜😍
Beautiful samples. Interesting video👍👍👍👍👍🤝🤝🤝
That last cut was AWESOME! Plumes and bands all together in that itty bitty beauty! ❤
Love looking for cool rocks! ❤❤❤
Stunning agates, and a fun trip. I really liked seeing the birds.
Great video thanks. Good mix of finding and cutting. Wildlife is fun to see too.
Woe...its nice for earing
Curiosity is fun at times. Nice video man 👍
Thanks 👍
The deer snort wheezing at you on their turf lol.
For sure lol
That last cut was really cool! Is the white stuff common opal?
So far, the red agate is my favorite.
That’s so cool man, love the gems you found. Thanks for the cool vid
Magnífico !!!!❤ Cada peça traz uma surpresa diferente !!!
Try and see if that soft white stuff inside the stones glows under UV light.
I love your videos!
Ooooh! Please send me some of those tiny ones! I usually cut tiny opal a Dremel. I have a flat lap, but I'm not proficient just yet. That, and I enjoy my Dremel. I don't have a saw and...
I live in Florida. There are no rocks here. Everything is some form of Calcium, except agatized coral and some chert. But I'd have to drive pretty far to get near a place to hunt. And I don't know where to hunt!
I'd like to just expose and polish some pretty stuff that I'v never played with before.
Awesome nature/hunt video
The last one looks like a galaxy
I like the one with the geodes internal. ❤️🏏🎸
I'm going to check out Lems. I love barefoot shoes. I discovered Altras a few months ago when a subscriber on "Old Guy Adventures" recommended them. It was my first pair of new shoes that actually fit my goofy feet after years of trying to find something that I could wear. Oh, by the way, nice rocks! Thanks for cutting some for us to enjoy!
They are great, my feet don’t hurt anymore at the end of a long work day/hike.
Could you please explain how agates are formed? Rocks have always fascinated me and I love watching you cut these gorgeous stones! 🥰
Google: “how are agates formed?”
@@AgateDad 🤣😂
Ya don't say?? 🤣😂
"Just a rock"!? Never thought of hear you say that😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Belíssimas ...PARABENS TAYLOR
I would concur😂it's purple-ish. I'm really curious about that white substance since it was in two agates.🤔
The last one is so beautiful❤❤wow
When I thought I couldn't love you more, you bang on about one of my favourite things, barefoot shoes. Hell yeah man! They have completely changed my life, and in combination with toe socks we've got a winner 🥳
Man.. I'm late to the party, any snacks left? I'm hungry for agates! So much fun to be had.
😂🙌
Thanks!
Thanks bud!!
You should bring a small sprayer or even a spray bottle out with you when you rock hunt. I take mine with me every time now! Make all the difference in the world!
Never know what is hiding in the grass. How come you didn't lick the giant porphyritic rock, I think that would add a little flavor to the video. The white material might be calcite UV it. Looks like it was a great day to be out. Happy hounding.
Hahah I was so thirsty I didn’t have any saliva to lick it
I have always wondered what common, nondescript rocks from different regions look like on the inside.
Did you find out what the white stuff
I did not, no idea what it is
The white stuff IS strange! It seemed to expand once air got to it. Trapped gas?
Fun video. Thanks.
Nope, the last one is my favorite!
Very,very good❤
8000 views of this video when I tuned in and that means we are the first 8000 who have seen inside this rock after millions of years (however old it is)! 😎👍
My name is Billie and I have an Agate Dad channel addiction! Lol
🤣🤣🤣
Lemon color at next is so pretty
If you find out what the white stuff is, do a video.
We dug Keokuk geodes on vacation, and a lot of the smaller ones, have that same white stuff. We haven’t cut the big ones yet!!!
Can’t wait to find some Lake Superiors when I visit. My brother and sister in law, just moved to Duluth. I got them into rockhounding a year ago.
Great videos!!
Wow agate
I think I just found a new hobby.
Welcome :) it’s an amazing hobby and community
Top ten ❤
Because I rarely find agates, (unlike my lucky, knowledgeable oldest) I prefer hunting for good jasper finds!
What do you clean your finds with prior to cutting?
Nothing really, soap and water if they’re really dirty.
Great shoes for hiking. Makes my tootsies happy. I like to wear my old keenes. The tread doesn't let me slip and fall (especially when slime coated rocks are the placed between me and gorgeous rocks).
Could the white stuff be calcite?
I don’t think so
Have you found out what that soft white stuff inside is?
Hi! What type of saw blade do you use in your 10” saw? Thanks for the cutting video!
I use the 10” hi tech diamond thin sintered blade linktr.ee/AgateDad
I can just imagine how much is missed in the water, covered with sediment and moss.
👍
I stumbled across a video on TH-cam about a deer huffing turning out to be a Sasquatch, now I am always wondering if it's really a deer.
I'm weird I love your "duds" they are very interesting
You’re not weird 😂
Good because I live in upstate NY and I've only found nice agates in my driveway gravel.
They're all so interesting and pretty 🧡🤍💙 It would be good to take a sample of that white stuff for analysis by a geologist 🤔
Right?
Спасибо, Тейлор.Очень хорошее видео. Что такое - Джаспер ? Удачи в дальнейшем!
Jasper is a mineral ☺️
@@AgateDad Спасибо, я такой не встречал.И у нас, в России, такого нет. К какой категории он относится: агат , яшма или брекчия ? Если не трудно ответь .С уважением - ценитель Вашего творчества.
Heading up to Grand Maria's in 2 weeks. My guy is looking for places to find any mineral metals like copper, hematite or pyrite etc. Any suggestions? We plan on leaving some easter eggs such as cold water agate and quartz stromataporiod and crystallized favosite fossils at every beach we stop at from our local finds here in Door County 😂. Maybe you will find one!
Is this rock hunting in igneous rock origin area?
what was the white stuff?
did you ever figure out what the white stuff was inside the agates? super weird and cool....
I did not
Is the white stuff clay?
Did you ever fine out what that white pasty stuff was?
I didn’t ☺️
13:34 what is the “little saw” called?
iran agate best agate in world.
That white stuff is weird, I wonder what it is.
Calcium carbonate
@@Miniscapes515that was my thought as well
@@Miniscapes515 oh neat, thanks 😊
@@Miniscapes515I was gonna say looks calcium like
Hi
Yo
Not everyone is fibber ! 😢
sooooooooo prettyyy😃
What is the little saw called .
5” trim saw from hi tech diamond linktr.ee/AgateDad
I’m a Merrill shoe fan! They are unbelievable! They buy them for the state police here in Kentucky.,. Looked like a grouse
Merril is good too, not sure if they are barefoot styled shoes though.
@@AgateDad no I don’t think so but I’ve worn these three years now bought two pair haven’t touched the second pair and been going in the water rockhounding for over one year they are a top hiking shoe love em. They buy them for state troopers here in Kentucky. I can’t believe the glue or materials would hold up they get a lot of abuse… you are correct a different type of shoe. Thanks
very pretty
No se ven bien, por la letra que las cubre
Lol
Did you find out what that white stuff is?
I did not
That last one… it looked to be a fossil or bone of some sort. I know what is seen in a Video VS in person can be very different. From what I see it could be…
First!!! 🙋🏽♀️❤
Where is your spray bottle?
I don’t carry one
The white stuff is fine traces of calcium carbonate
local news" stone cutter dies from rare prehistoric virus"
fake news
Can you just grab random rocks without knowing what you grab and then seeing what you get❤
You can
@@AgateDad as in a video idea
Hey agate dad, I saw that sometimes you cut open other peoples rocks for them! How can I contact you about that? I have a few LSAs that I’d like to have cut open!
Email me at agatedad@gmail. com and send pictures of the agates :)
Hello Agate Dad i have a question, do you know of a place i can rockhound near Kingman? Hope u have an amazing time rockhounding and Amazing video!
Where’s kingman?
It is in Mohave County, Arizona
Worms lmao jk
Its a Grosse
Aren’t you and others afraid you’ll cut your fingers on the saw?
Never
Your nothing was pretty. How much for that small nothing?
