Having flown into and out of KJFK numerous times as a pilot and a passenger the sound of the 747 in TOGO mode is awesome. It was probably the situation of compressing as many aircraft as possible, and the runway was not clear. No big deal, the ATC system int he US is great, and works very well
It's exactly the opposite of great compared to Europe, where you get a landing clearance just when there are actually NO planes in front of you/still on the runway. If you'd listen to ATC recordings, you'd know that there are more go-arounds than you'd think...
I absolutely agree with you on the European sunset, my mother is Italian form Napoli and i lived there for 11 months not to mention i go there every year to visit family. God how do i miss that sunset the most stunning and spectacular sunset i have ever seen in my life, i sure do miss it and i can't wait to go back to visit.
the beautiful sound of those engines just brings tears to my eyes such power real power....................oh god that sound of those engines kicking off makes me want to hug them...........beautiful..beautiful
best pilots ever! they do this to avoid danger. called "touch and go." I've been on LH when it is happened. They have everything under control. LH is the BEST!
They set power just over the aiming point bars ! I've never seen a Go around so close to the touch point ! I've seen a video : a 737 touches ground and after a few seconds go around because there's probably something or a traffic incursion on the runway. But never a video with a heavy one going around so close to the touch point... Great ! I like the sound of the engines when they suddenly apply thrust !!!
No worries sir; it was no doubt a typo. I only noticed after looking through the LH fleet list and not finding the registration. Looking forward to more of your videos! Thanks again.
It was at JFK and happened on August 11 2007. We went around becasue at the last minute, a Iberia A346(Airbus A340-600) taxied onto the runway. Added an extra 30 min to our flight
@AAmatt777 yep it is unique. Great video. I had a clear look at that IBERIA a340. I keep watching this when i'm bored, but maybe it did take quite a long time till we saw the main part
It's JFK approaching 13L. The famous Canarsie Approach. Pause at 3.05 and you see all the BA heavies parked at T7. JFK is notorious for go-arounds. I've had two on BA 747's in the last three years. The power is awesome :)
you are right, but mostly likely that the captain knew he was about to do a go around atleast 15-20sec before the plane actually lifted up, which gave him time to let the purser know. anyway, from what I understood in german she mentioned they were ought to do a go around due to a plane still on runway.
It´s the Parkway Visual approach to Runway 13 L at JFK, usually very busy, probably an aricraft was still on the runway when they had to go around, not too uncomon at JFK. You can see the Brooklyn CGAS, Jamaica Bay, the Crossbay Parkway, all part of the procedure, my favorite of all time!
Exactly the same happened to me when i flew with Alitalia MD-80 to Malpensa (Milano). We were this close to landing but because of windy conditions, we had to go-around.
Did a version of this earlier today at Heathrow in a BMI A319, after getting hit by a gust of wind right as we were about to touch down. Getting to do the approach over London twice on a clear day was cool!
I was on a go around one time flying into a small regional airport. The pilot was just a few seconds short of touchdown when he spooled the engines. As we started to turn right to make another attempt, the pilot came on the radio and said "sorry folks, but it is sort of hard to land with a truck on the runway"...LOL...I agree...
If you come in too high, even with the engines idle, you'll gain more speed. If you come in too fast, you'll glide more time over the runway when landing, making you "eat" more runway. It usually takes 2/3 of runway to stop, so, if you come in fast and glide for several seconds to bleed off speed, you'll land after the first 1/3, increasing your chances of running off the runway. So for security reasons, we are required to land on that first 1/3.
That move does tend to get ppl worried but the pilot did good execution of that inadequate airport. Could use another three or four runways but nowhere to put them.
I'd LOVE to experience a go-around. :( Lats time we came back from holiday, the plane bounced one or twice and I was hoping for a go-around but the pilot managed to get it down and we never went around. :(
I'm a pilot on a A340-600 and when you come into that airport its tricky and on the airbus you got fly-by-wire so it's easy but hard. Go around procedure...., 1. Announce---- GO AROUND!! 2. Throttles full 3. Climb 4. Flaps, slats up.. Spoilers Un armed 5. Gear up 6. Pan pan pan to ATC 7. Landing check list.. Let's do it again!
Looks suspiciously like the Canarsie VOR or Parkway visual approach into 13L. The approach looks stable enough at 300ft and the touchdown looks perfectly allright. More likely an advisory for a late landing clearance which they never recieved, so they went around.
@AviationNation787 Exactly. According to regulations and landing procedures, the crew must fly the aircraft at 50 feet above the threshold, so there must have been some other problem. Glidepath was okay.
this is a good info for you guys.. lol i guess this is an A340 not 747 im not sure.. and what happened when the plane was on finals it had to overshoot.. this happenes when airport is really busy.. when the plane overshoot full throttle and flaps to take off flaps and the go-around is called a circuit.. 1 circuit turning left or right of the runway which is called downwind and then turn base then to final again and ten a landing.. hope this is useful.
@firaz91 No his/her rate of descent/glidescope were spot on. He or she must have seen something in, on, incoming, taking off or near the runway ahead they did not like. The aircraft was not high at all, but rather spot on and nearly touched down if you pay close attention...
No.. this is most likely not a pilot error at all... he was pretty much smack on the aiming spot, and first markers for touch down zone,so either there was a aircraft on the runway, maybe possible debries from the aircraft landing before it etc... there can be many reasons for a go around...
Thats the Belt Parkway. All of that traffic is heading toward Brooklyn and Staten Island. It's late afternoon I'm surprised it's not backed up going towards Long Island instead.
It´s the Parkway Visual approach to Runway 13 L at JFK, usually very busy, probably an aricraft was still on the runway when they had to go around, not too uncomon at JFK
@joseanrodm9519 No, they didn't. They are required to touch down after the runway threshold (the large white bars near the edge of the runway), so they were exactly in the place they needed to be for touchdown.
It was D-AVBP. The flight attendant anncounced that 'the captian has felt it necesary to make a go-around becasue of another aircraft on the runway. Sorry for the delay"
Same experience with an Air France A380. We almost touched down but had to do a go around due to the fact that an airplane was still on the runaway due to heavy traffic at JFK
I love that sound of 747 engines
Oh yeah....the GEs always sound the best. On any airplane.
jeepxjdude2000 Aeroplane.
jeepxjdude2000 GEs are my favorite to man! Then the P&Ws. These RRs dont really get my attention to much.

GE doesn’t roar on 787 :(
Awesome sound from those GEs....best sounding 744 engine by far.
+Alex B no #RB211FTW
Rolls Royce sound better but they are weak af.
You have to love how the cabin crew immediately reacted and made an announcement. Good as always LH!

Tower: You're cleared to land and by the way....your wife is waiting for you at the Gate
Captain: Oh fuck...GO AROUND! WE'RE DIVERTING!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂 So true
She found out he was cheating on her
+FSXgamer But, how did she get from Frankfurt I suppose to JFK faster than flying?
+Mikosch2 She took an earlier flight
+marcelkade lol if my best friend was waiting for me at the gate i would probably smash the landing gear trying to get there quick enough! ;)
Those four GE engines sound so smooth in transition. They gave and gave more. Awesome reliable aero- technology!!

damn! just here those GE's power up again! sounds amazing!!
This is absolutely one of my favorite aviation videos!
The sound of those CF6s just roaring!!! I love it!!!
Pilots: "Shit!, wrong airport"
+sparta139 It was actually the right airport so not really funny....
+Speedbird way to go to be a kill joy...
+Speedbird i like how you destroyed the joke

FSX ATC in a nutshell
the captain=man that GE-CF6 engine is so smooth
co pilot=wanna hear it again louder?
cap=ok lets go around
3:00
The flight attendant gave information straight away about the go around, that a good Airline,Well done Germany*
great go around! This was close but these pilots knew what they were doing. Good job guys!
the beautiful sound of those engines just brings tears to my eyes such power real power....................oh god that sound of those engines kicking off makes me want to hug them...........beautiful..beautiful
this is the best go around video on youtube i've seen so far, great sound!

love the engine sound quick wind up for max go around power. nice job !
i thought this was a video of a lufthansa 747-400 like going around at 1,000ft! this is the best go-around video ever! adding it to my favourites
what a monster of an aircraft.........brings tears to my eyes to hear those engines go go go go..................
wow !!
the sound of the engines is beautiful after the go-around

Love the engine noise when going around!
I love go-arounds because you get some action for your money :D
that was a very late go round
Oh my God! That engine sound gives me the creeps!! Awesome!! Love it!

that is a touch and go. a go-around is when you don't put the aircraft down rather it's a maneuver in the air for safe landing.
I LOVE the sound when he goes around !!!
wow ! great video! must have been beautiful to watch from outside! the plane was almost about to touchdown!

Got some serius power pickup there, safe and fast response from the engines.
What an impressive clinb out!!!!! Great job!!!
@skycruiser777... you took the words right out of my mouth!!!

You're right. This was the parkway visual approach into 13L at JFK. Can be tricky for the heavies.
Spectacular approach!!! Really amazing....
The sound of those engines on go-around: it's like classical music!
Ich liebe es, wenn die Triebwerke auf Knopfdruck auf einmal alles geben!
Gotta love seeing / hearing that power when they "floor it."
Great video! I was expecting the go around much sooner than it occurred.
LOOK! I can see my house from here. You really gotta love that roar :)
That's freakin amazing -- probably 30 feet left to go and then "Go Around"... I'll bet those pilots were pissed.
Probably sounds about right
Lol
haha na it isnt scarey irs really fun its like a super take off...and to hear those engine's beautiful music is so exciting
One of the nicest go arounds inflight filmed, 5*

brilliant video, i love to listen this GE engine roar at the GA :D
Nice Canarsie Approach! One of the most challenging at JFK, I can understand why the pilot decided to go around.
I doubt he went around due to the approach. The last mile was stable. Likely due to crossing traffic or previous traffic not clearing.
I agree.. I think the approach was good.. to bad we didn't know.. could be something ordinary or maybe a close call. :P
excelente filmaje, linda paisaje y el sonido de los motores és mui excitante!!
