As I watched this video I thought about my dad, and realized how proud I am of him. Although, he is gone I will always remember him through love and respect. He flew out of JFK for 31 years for Pan Am, and retired in 1979.
I'm impressed by the professionalism needed to land an aircraft of this magnitude so smoothly, My sister-in-laws uncle is a true professional.. Great view of Rockaway and Jamaica bay inlets and my elementary school P.S. 42👍
Nice video!! I've been in the jump seat ... before September 11, 2001. It was an amazing experience, landing in Winnipeg Manitoba. The sunset was magnificent.
Wonderful video, I loved it. Makes me nostagic for New York, at least to know the excitement of landing at either JFK or LaGuardia once again to visit. Grew up in Red Hook, Brooklyn that mysterious childhood I'll never forget. My memory is in black and white, even though I look at color videos now, I remember the gray fog on the river, I hear the sound of the tugboats.
Great crews like this make it look so incredibly easy. As a non-pilot married to a pilot I have a very small inkling of how much training this takes. Hats off to every crew in charge of every successful landing and takeoff!
hey everyone, I fly little cessna 172's and every video i watch of a 747 it seems like they land flat. but to my perspective in a 172 we pitch way nose up to land. This is a truly excellent video, and it shows how great the 747 is.
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing - I love the 747/4 and I only get to see them from six miles below! I live in the far NW of Scotland and they fly over my house on their way to and from the States and Canada etc. I'd sell my body for a chance to have a cockpit seat, but I'm not very skinny and I'll just have to wait and win the lottery lol :)
Cool view of the Rockaway Peninsula. Growing up I marveled at the giant jumbo jets taking off and landing at JFK. At about 30 seconds in the lower right you can see a 600 foot long "A" train on its way to Mott Ave.
Blijven mooie beelden !!! Jaarlijks een dag of 10/11 naar NYC met KLM. Blijft een geweldig trip..... Still beautiful images !!! Annually 10/11 days to NYC with KLM. Still a great trip .... Ruuud Mulder (NYC-Fan) The Netherlands.
Love it! Let me feel like a little boy with his face sticked right to the windshield watching the flight! I am too old for that right now, plus there's no space even for a kid to get there! :) First class view! Thanx again! I also enjoy English with a Dutch accent!
@SuredT you have some amazing quality takeoff/landing videos that cant be found anywhere else on youtube (at least that I've found) and i would be extremely happy if you kept uploading videos of its kind.
Very enjoyable landing on 4R. JFK is a fantastic airport to utilize. I always try to book air travel through there. The Jetblue terminal is really a pleasant place to visit ...except for the very last gate in the east wing. Don't miss the Exofficio shop for great travel clothes-
Completely agree. I fly a lot and apart from take-off or landing I find flying an ordeal. I love watching these TH-cam videos though. I even find taxiing at JFK interesting when it's online!
@yekane1 i think its just the antena you have to swicth off.....Still allowing you users to use the video device. its called "flight mode" on most phones.
@simpson5092 no Puppy is talking about the first officer saying the ground speed when they're landed. He says 'x ground speed'..those are in knots. What you're talking about is the (correct me if I'm wrong) radio altimeter. It's calling out the heights when flying.
@ysflightman If you listen closely you can hear the engine reversers kick in. It basically redirects engine thrust forwards instead of out the back. Also as soon as the wheels hit the tarmac they deploy spoilers that come up from the wings adding extra drag. all those things put together slow that big bird down quickily!
Good question. They are coming in from the southwest, heading northeast just past Sandy Hook Bay when the video started. They were on approach for 04R which has a magnetic heading between 35º - 44º (northeast). At the beginning of the video the Manhatten skyline is about one video width off to the left.
i love these plane videos, could watch them for hours..... but not as much as i love all the know-it-all people commenting on every single one of them like they know what they're on about, just because they've played flight simulator 8 million or whatever :)
@waterattack nope, dude. its autopilot callouts. im talking about the standart procedures when autopilot call 'minimums' the pilot flying must respond 'landing' or 'go around' and the pilot monitoring must respectively respond 'check' or 'go around'. and in this case nobody responded. correct me if i'm mistaken
@Kieran1693 They are lights on the side of the runway(glideslope path to) , they turn white if you are too high above the runway, and red if you are too low
@packerbackerfan4. In the States it is normal to land on the shorter runways and Take Off (T/O) on the longer ones. At the time of landing a 747 is much lighter than at T/O. So you need less runway length at the time of landing. This way an airport is able to use two runways at the same time, one for landing and one for T/O. Sometimes 2 for landing and two for T/O, like LA and Chicago etc.
Reverse thrust is not the engines going backwards. Depending on engine type, part of the casing is mechanically opened and deflectors channel the air stream through openings to the side and out. The air is forced outwards and sidewards instead if to the rear. The engine does not spin in the opposite direction. Idle reverse is when the deflectors are opened. Full reverse is when the engines are additionally spooled up and more thrust is directed out through the openings. A smooth landing like
@Sony1995forever Could be one of multiple things you are hearing then. The sound of the wheels hitting the runway, the speed brakes applying or even the reverse thrusters.

That was probably the most beautifully smooth landing I have ever seen!
I'm impressed by the professionalism needed to land an aircraft of this magnitude so smoothly, My sister-in-laws uncle is a true professional..
Great view of Rockaway and Jamaica bay inlets and my elementary school P.S. 42👍
For me this video is legendary as it was one of those that fueled my passion for aviation.
I must have watched that one 1000 time's
Holy cow, that was a smooth landing!
napim
One of the most gentle touch downs I've seen
It's KLM !!!
My favorite part are the sound of the reverse thrusters.
Sick landing! Amazing pilots. Great job Captain :)
My family flew KLM to Scotland and back to JFK US in '67. Amazing memory
My favorite SuredT youtube post, landing sequence N.Y. JFK, landing checkings completed!
The land of dreams
I love America as well as Americans ❤️❤️❤️
Your opinions will change fairly soon.

Small plane arrival vedeo
hollisterpatricia wow, thy mouth runeth over
When they flew over the beach at the beginning of this video, I saw my house!
Still living there ???
Which one is it? The white one on the left?
@Mark Prowatzke my house is in the cluster to the left of the screen as the plane flies over the beach.
Very nice video. Technology is amazing
Smooth landing !!
Robert Horker zero chance that this was an autoland.
Great crews like this make it look so incredibly easy. As a non-pilot married to a pilot I have a very small inkling of how much training this takes. Hats off to every crew in charge of every successful landing and takeoff!
LOVE it!! Less confusing than when I rode the jump seat of a AeroMexico DC-10 in to JFK at night. Great memories for a private pilot!
1:55 did he say "speed brakes stuck"?
+A1sausie Speedbrakes UP
+Lucas Ledin Thanks
+Lucas Ledin hahahahahahahahaha
Yeah I agree up
Amazing excellent landing
This is Cessna 172
its a 7 forty cessna

Cool view most passengers might never see. Hats off to the pilot for his camera and airmanship.
It's all brilliant! Bet some of you armchair pilots would absolutely brick yourselves if you were doing this for real. Have respect.
He was flying over the Jamaica Bay
welcome to new york, if you look out the left side of the airplane, you can see the largest prison on earth, riker's island
+SamuraiPie8111 Riker's Island is seen from LaGuardia not JFK
+SamuraiPie8111 You can't see Rikers from JFK.
+SamuraiPie8111 Wrong side of the map, Riker's is North of JFK, between Queens and the Bronx.
+SamuraiPie8111 I suppose you're the guy who sold the Brooklyn bridge to that tourist...
Wrong. You are thinking of La Guardia airport. Rikers is right there
Wow!! Nice flare and touchdown!! Well flown approach! I would definitely feel comfortable with these guys in control.

Beautiful Landing!!! - Thanks for the Video.
Definitely amazes me on a regular basis! Technology has come a long way since Kitty Hawk.
really really the nicest landings ive seen, usually the camera shakes it looks over roading, well done
That is a beautiful sight! Thanks for sharing!
very nice. I commend all pilots for their amazing abilities and knowledge. Kudos!!!
Such a smooth landing. Awesome job!
That landing was absolutely astonishing! EPIC WIN!
Fantastic piece of work with an outstanding piece of engeneering!
Love it! Let me feel like a little boy with his face sticked right to the windshield watching the flight! I am too old for that right now, plus there's no space even for a kid to get there! :) First class view! Thanx again! I also enjoy English with a Dutch accent!
That's was a beautiful approach and great landing. Very professional.
Daimn that was one smooth landing! Thumbs up for the PIC
very nice video with a great view over Jamaica bay. Thanks for uploading
That is absolutely SWEEEEEEEET! I'd pay to ride along in the cockpit in one of these beautiful giants!
Love this!
I wish I could fly as a passenger with you someday Captain. Your take-off's and landings are excellent.
I've been flying from NYC to Fl for some time. Each time I see JFK I'm always amazed at how filthy the airport is.
neat landing - been in a few 747s (747-100 types) TWA, BA, Aer Lingus landing in New York but that's quite a while ago now.
great piloting and greater landing. thanks for sharing!!

Great video! Watch you lads fly into YYZ and it always seam's to be a perfect landing!
The landing seems so smooth from the cockpit view, or just because the video maybe;) NICE!
You are amazing..My mother and I watch your videos all the time! I love aviation
@yekane1 i think its just the antena you have to swicth off.....Still allowing you users to use the video device. its called "flight mode" on most phones.

Very smooth landing, as usual... He makes it look easy

Excellent upload. Dank je wel. KLM is a great airline of a great country.

Why the hell are there so many dislikes??
These are the best point of view videos I have found on TH-cam!!
@CRGboy1 no there are areas where the cowling opens which redirects thrust outward but its called reverse thrust
smooth as butter. thanks APH
That was REALLY smooth
Beeaaauuutiful approach. Txtbook looking. Falls under "how to land well after a good approach"
I am not sure which job I would like better! Yours or mine lol! That looks like fun and work! Great job!
Couldn't have been more perfect.

I didn't know whether they were landed before I heared the reversers... SMOOTH landing!!
Perfect landing! A pleasure to watch gentlemen!
that toucdown was awesome, didnt ever realise it was down till I heard the speedbreaks arm
This is the most perfect landing I ever see.
Couldn’t get any better than this..
What an amazing view. Thanks for sharing guys...
Thanks. Beautiful landing.
Very nice soft landing... great job!!!
super video, nice quality, cool landing

A smooth landing like
@GGFGOALSHD
it is the GPWS (ground Proximity Waring System) it says "sink rate" Pull Up" those types of things
awesome!!! that is rockaway beach, i stood there and watched the planes land =)
@Sony1995forever Could be one of multiple things you are hearing then. The sound of the wheels hitting the runway, the speed brakes applying or even the reverse thrusters.
That was a NICE touchdown!
wow! what a great landing! and it seemed very short too
What a smooth landing!!!! I want this pilot every time I fly!
Hire these pilots as your personal flyers.
Damn.... these guys make it look so easy
Nice landing
UUUH? SOOO SMOOTH ... GREAT PILOT MAN ...
@SuredT Indeed, and in some cases, such as Atlanta and perhaps Dallas, we can have three departures and/or three landings simultaneously.
Which reminds me: it looks like a good day to be listening in on KATL's approaches.
Such smooth landing.. the camara didn´t even moved.Nice
4R is rarely used. Great to see it on video. Thanks!
@Sony1995forever I think it was the sppedbrake lever going up becuase after that the pilot said "Speedbrake up".
Great Landing at JFK, I am always excited to experience touching down there.
@jm431 minimum decision height. Its the height where the pilots must decide weather to go around or to continue approach
thanks for posting this video, great views.
Absolutely awesome!!!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Great work recording this video!
