The other drivers were on wets which will obviously make them drive differently and also defending changes the line. He is very good but other drivers are all professionals as well. It's absurd to state that they cannot drive as well because of their racing lines.

@@benvorbeck it's absurd to say that I said that they cannot drive. Also having another tire doesn't change the racing line if conditions are the same for both. The other drivers clearly just drove way safer, for which the line is a perfect indicator.

Even as a Ferrari fan I think Kevin Estre is one of the best if not the best GT racing driver. He makes it look like he's going against Am drivers. He's just absolutely amazing anywhere in a Porsche. The man set the GTE lap record at Spa and dominated the 6h of Spa earlier this year. Then he goes on to win the 24h of Nurburgring with this masterclass driving, he was on full attack, driving the wheels off that 911 GT3R for that entire race.

If I remember correctly almost everyone of the GT3 teams started on cut slicks. So in NLS or N24h there are cut slicks, inters, full wets and heavy wets as tyres for rainy conditions. They all started on cut slicks or maybe some on inters. But the front running cars Mercedes #4, Rowe BMW #1 and so on all went for cut slicks. Manthey did as well. So he actually didn't have that much of a tyre advantage. He just got them to work really well. He seriously did some terrific stints there.

Great commentary Erm but I'd had a few notes:
    - as others mentioned, this was a run from P11 to P2, at this point Luca Stolz was leading about 7-10 seconds ahead
    - the actual overtake from P2 to P1 was on the Doettinger Hoehe I think in the 4th lap. You actually show it at 1:13.
    - You mistook Aremberg for Schwedenkreuz. Schwedenkreuz is a fast left curve before that slow right-hand curve of Aremberg
    - Of course, despite Stolz being officially in P1, we all know that the real P2 to P1 overtake was when Kevin overtook the #118 Dacia Logan. I mean, they even won the race, they got the checkered just before the official winner, Kevin Estre in the #911 :))

10:52 - You can actually benefit from the end of the AMG-Arena which widens the track a lot. What I mean by this is, that you have only one key-point (the green part on the outside before the end of the AMG Arena) which you want to avoid especially in the wet and open your steering much more than you usually would do. Due to this he take an early and narrow apex to take more momentum out of the corner.

The lineup for that car is epic. Christensen, Estre, Vanthoor.
All top drawer picks imho. Estre has had the most exciting moments of the lot though. This and the pass on the grass.

Insanely brave or insanely mad? Never mind. Kevin Estre successor of Sabine Schmitz driving style. Masterful driving. ;-)

14:37 - What you may not know is that the wet line is exactly Kevin's line. BMW was not really faking it - he just tried to close any gap on the inside and had therefore brake earlier than Kevin.

So maybe some of you racers or sim racers or race fans can educate me. Not a race fan. Play every once in a while on xbox. Anyway, my question is, is that good racing from him or poor racing from them? Whenever i play, it seems obvious that you take a car from the inside and block cars from behind to do the same. I dont know anything about the sling shot thing other than it must be some sort of energy propulsion after drafting behind a car. When im playing sometimes i give up the inside and get taking but again, thats cause i fucked up. So is it good racing on him or are they just fucking up and he takes advantage?

    didnt they use cut slicks?
i was there and the commentator said they are on cut slicks for the slightly wet track
thats why he didnt just swim off in the wet sections
