Kevin Estre's driving always looks like he is driving with easy AI difficulty
Hes a smurf 100% XD
Marciello too
Or, the hardest difficulty of GT Sport.
@@jaydenmorris2560 or 120 percent level in F1 2021 PS5.
But he knows Nordschleife like his own pocket
What an absolute unit. Man is making moves irl that most of us would be scared to make in simulators
Kevin is an insane driver. A lot of the reason why we don't make some of these moves in simulators is because it comes down to spatial awareness. It's just a lot hard in a sim to judge how much space you have in a sim. VR helps a bit in that regard.
Real
@@gdoumit that is offset by the fact that we can just press the reset button in a second.
Like Senna once said: “If you don‘t go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver.”
Most of us feels like this playing PS4 Gran Turismo lol
The 24 hours of Burger King seems like a very tough and exhausting race
It's 3.a.m. where it really begins getting to them... lol
at least you could have it your way 😀
Absolute whopper of an overtake at the end.
What a total Whopper that is
Honestly interested to see someone set the record for most laps of the drive thru in 24h.
Just a short correction. He made it from P11 to P2 (P3 if you want to be precise) within the two laps. He dropped to P13 before the braking for T1 and after T2 he was P12. The Rowe BMW was P2 until Kévin Estre got him. The leading Mercedes AMG GT3 was able to build a gap before he could get there. Later in the race that AMG crashed so Manthey won the race.
Jup, that rowe BWM seemed to have the wrong tires on and was holding off the field a lot. Merc was the only one who got past the BMW before the twisty bits and managed to drive out a huge lead
@@Netrole Wasnt it the Bilstein Merc that was leading the race?
@@max_647 Might be. If i'm honest, all i remember is that it was a yellow mercedes
@@Netrole yes it was the yellow/blue HRT Bilstein Mercedes. Getspeed Mercedes was pink in the BWT design.
Shame the creator/s of this video did not acknowledge your feedback. That said, the sole purpose was to highlight the incredible driving by Kevin Estre. They do say (generally speaking), experience counts for a lot.
Jimmy's commentary skills are absolutely insane. Seriously makes the racing so easy and engaging to follow. I would love to see him commentate some irl racing.
came here to say this! This reel is all that is needed to apply to some commenting gigs!
He did commentator IRL, but in the Gran Turismo event back in 2019 I believe.
@@andrean-rakka He still commentates on current GT events.
Jimmy in the booth with Martin Haven for a WEC race would be awesome.
grello has got to be one of the best racing liveries in recent times
I was worried how it would translate to the 992 R but the designers did a fantastic job again
the green one's proper, proper lovely but i'm really not a fan of the red & gold version
@@JJJackson777 Agreed.
Kevin Estre breaks all the rules of endurance racing, he takes HUGE risks but somehow keeps it on the road. A pleasure to watch!
Edit: His first stint at this year's N24 was pretty insane as well
Yup, its a shame that the car suffered a slow punctured left rear and hit the wall and later had to retire.
Manthey only compete to win. A podium finish is not what they are after with their track record on the N24. But it takes a lot of skill to run at this level for 24 hours :)
@@TheCloudhopper I thought it exploded in the breaking zone, effectively making the car impossible to control.
@@Climate.Realist Yes, when the team withdrew the car, they said that they had a slow puncture and the tyre ultimate failed under breaking resulting in the impact.
Hoefully they'll have a longer race next time.
This years N24 was one of the best races I've watched... I need not take that any further, straight up ever! It almost felt like a 24hr Sprint at times.
But that 21 start was epic! These drivers are absolute gladiators! Estre's driving there and in past/present races is so damn inspiring. Hero moves!
The weather of this years 24 was absolutely perfect has to be said. That adds to the enjoyment (and decreases amount of yellow and red flags).
Not im my opinion the BOP was completely off and Ferraris where way to fast. Also the Porsches couldn't even compete for the win because Michelin fucked up the tires.
Saw the thumbnail, immediately knew it would be Estre's start of the 2021 N24h...
His track knowledge is impressive. It looks like the track is going to disappear several times but he puts his car there and just hangs on. There’s a lot of people who know the Nordschliefe. What the next turn is, where you need to brake, which turns you can carry speed into because the camber helps you; but Estre knows every inch. Crazy
This doesn’t seem lazy to me, you provide helpful context and explanations to what’s happening.
Keep doing what you enjoy, that’s what matters most :)
Plus, it even doesn't feel like a reaction video. It is well done sports commentary.
A note on how Estre managed to pass the absolute elite of GT racing as if they were easy AI: he had the right tires on. Before the race started there was a huge uncertainty of how the weather will play out (mind you they have about a 20 minute formation lap) so teams where on all sorts of tires between full slick, cut slick and intermediates. Not to take away from Estre, it was a brilliant drive, and a masterclass in how to make the most of a tire advantage. Thats why it seemed at points that he had so much more grip. It wasn't pure confidence, it was the right choice of tire.
Also it was P11 to P2, the yellow mercedes was in P1 (seen in 18:42, that was P1 not traffic)
Yes. You can see the difference in the pace of the cars. Some are slow and holding everyone up. Some are some sort of close to Kévins pace. Just from the footage I'd gues most of them (at least the top 5) had cut slicks too just as Kévin. But in cut slicks there is always the individual design that the engineer cut into those slicks. The Manthey engineer found the perfect amount for those conditions. Some others might have gone for a bit less. If there was anyone on slicks he would have went off on the wet sections. I just remember the final phase of 2017 and the slicks are not working in the rain at all. Those who manage to keep it on the track with some speed definitely have some sort of rain dedicated tires. Maybe some were on inters.
Edit: I just rewatched the Interview with Kévin and he said he'd guess that the top 20 were half on slicks and half on cut slicks.
was looking for an explanation like this...I've watched enough racing to know people don't do this on pace alone.
Estré was on "cutted" slicks - basically intermediates - thats why he had so much more grip, then the others ;) still awesome seeing Grello going at it!
I think he wasn't the only one on those tires. Pretty much all of the front runners have been on cut slicks as far as I now. There are actually also intermediate tires too and only a few cars chose those inters I think. The point about cut slicks is that the engineer cuts grooves into normal slick tires and he is free to do so as he wants. So he could do it only a bit to keep it more slick like for just a bit of rain or a bit more for the heavier rain. Mantheys engineer obviously did a great job. It was the perfect tire.
I don't know why, but hearing the engine and transmission whine of any GT3 car at full chat is one of the coolest and purest race-car sounds and I LOVE that noise, especially down the long straights.
Some amazing driving on show, and as with any top-notch driver; Estre makes its look effortless.
The Porsche at 4:44 held a slide for 3 seconds nicely 🤯👏🏻👏🏻

The whine of the straight cut gears in that transmission will always be such a unique sound that feels like a racers heartbeat. What a crazy video and an INSANE drive from Mr. Estre. Keep up the awesome content Jimmy!
Phenomenal vid man! Your unbridled joy and the way you walk us through key-moments is a pure joy to experience. Plus, that Porsche sound is *chef’s kiss *
Amazing!
Jimmy you are an amazing caster: this clip with Estre is a blast of adrenaline and your commentary just adds more hype making everything epic.
We want to see more of these!
Jimmy continuing to spout love and appreciation for the 24H of Nurburgring. Such passion!
7:28 "my favourite part of the circuit" 👉🏻 I can see this was filmed BEFORE our lap with Steve🥲
Probably my favourite race ever. Watched it live and the battle HRT, Rowe and Manthey had is the best ive seen in a single race. Sad it was so short due to mist at night but still such a good race. Kevin Estre is so good aswel. Had the chance to do a lap with him on the nordschleiffe last year in a GT3, and it was amazing. Every dip you hit the floor of the car shaves over the ground and you hear the tires squeaking in every corner, going up and down the curbs. Insane, one of the best experiences i will ever have probably.
This is breath-taking driving there. This guy definitely deserves more praise than he has O_O
I watched the original wide eyed. I enjoyed it even more with your race driver insight. Thank you for sharing!
Kevin Estre just earned himself a fan, that first lap was amazing
He's amazing to watch. Catch some other onboards of him from other races around the world if you can. you won't be disappointed.
@@OTM-BandiT I definitely will!
@@jess_o He'll be going for the overall victory at the Le Mans 24 hours next weekend in the Porsche 963 hypercar. I prefer him in a 911, but should still be fun in 963, I'm a Porsche and Estre fanboy!
This video Jimmy is watching, I watched this onboard as my chosen live feed for the race, I was certain it was going to be glorious awesomeness, was a no-brainer. Love me some Estre with a Porsche boxer-6 soundtrack!😘
Jimmy, this is not a lazy video, your passion and knowledge are infectious and this was amazing to watch. Thank you very much! I would love to see more videos of you reacting to your favorite races, and moments in motorsports.
Kevin Estre has quickly become my favorite driver across all forms of Motorsport
That demoman charge scream at 6:23 jumpscared me, love that jimmys editor is a tf2 fan

Awesome video Jimmy! This was such a great race, and the first N24 race race I've ever watched live. It'd be so cool to see more "analysis" videos of real racing - I haven't seen that much on youtube
The commentary really enhances the experience. These are some truly excellent race minutes. Sincere thanks!
Jimmy, this is by far the best race commentary i've seen for a long time! Grinning from ear to ear and getting exited because you are. Thank you, it was awesome!! And daym, 6:28 you just created a new word: "...but that was a shuuge moment!" 😂
Wasn’t that about where Lauda had his accident too?
Great video. Loved the commentary. Blends nicely. What a race too. I saw you on Mishas story yesterday when you guys took his camera. Definitely hitting that follow button.
IDK what was better, Kevin's driving or your commentary.
Great video Jimmer wouldn't mind seeing more of these if the races give you the right content for it.
Always astounds me how cleanly all these cars make it through the Yokohama Esses on lap 1, true skill and respect these guys show!!
Do more stuff like this please, your knowledge and energy make these videos enjoyable!
Hey Jimmy, you need to do the David Pittard one where he makes 54 overtakes in one lap, absolutely mental!!!
Hey pommie Boi, this is Aussie Boi, this how I want you to drive, precise and accurate, no mistakes. The bloke in the car is brilliant on a bloody difficult track. He's a thinking driver, always looking for possiblities on the race track, very intertaining.
Great stuff Jimmy! would love to see more race breakdowns, especially from the onboard perspective
You should do Estres start of this years N24 as well! Not nearly as many places gained since the BoP was pretty much fecked but still, he pushes even harder than the 2021 start..! The air he gets in Pflanzgarten 2 took my breath away more than once.
Just amazing racecraft by this guy. Can't express enough how exciting is to see it.
He’s in that zone where he has zero concern what the guy behind is doing. Pure attack mode. Legend.
As someone who is still new to racing, I really enjoy this kind of content. Great work!
Great commentary! I rarely watch races but you've really exposed just how exciting and skillful it is!
hi Jimmer, i think you have a future in race analysis/commentary. that was gripping stuff, and your knowledge and experience really add texture and detail to the whole thing. cracking stuff!
I really enjoyed the video, feels like a watchparty in front of the TV together with Jimmy :) Great format!
It is mad seeing the narrow narrow track wind through this massive forest where it just seems like no car should be and he is absolute flying past everyone. Unreal driving.
22 was a great year. It was my first 24h on track and i was sitting in the AMG tribune. it was epic. ~ from 8:30 - 23:00 sitting on my (at that point) very flat ass. Fucking awesome!
That was the 2021 Race, i was also there in the Mercedes Tribune :)
@@sagerwraps9990 Ahh my mistake, he did the start insanely well in 2022 aswell. Thats why i thought it was that year.
This was amazing, and it was absolutely a delight seeing you very much enjoying the racing, Jimmer.
That was absolutely impeccable driving! That battle for 1st was intense. Some crazy drivers out there!
First time seeing a race like this, and I think I am hooked
Fantastic breakdown, thank you for this!
GT7 just recently held a Daily Race last week at the 24h circuit and, by God, it gave me some of the most exciting and closest battles I've ever had in online racing. The Nordschleife never disappoints.
One of the best 20 mins of driving ever put to film, exquisite driving 👌
inb4 Jimmy becomes an actual race commentator
Really excellent commentary - thanks for making.
Really enjoyed watching this with your comms! Such great insight and enthusiasm, was great!
Honestly, your full metal racing experience is making a world of difference. It’s easy to tell you’re speaking from experience. I hope you get to race on the Nordschleife!
the onboard of kevin estre was fire
I like you reactions its very informative for ppl who not as educated about race car driving especially in the states
Love this style of video Jimmy. Been getting into GT3 again. Good work mate.
There is actually also an interview with Kévin where they watch these laps and he is commentating on what he does and why. He has such a good knowledge and experiences on that track. The lap 1 move in Schwedenkreuz on the outside (4:03 - 4:13) was a bit like "let's see what the grip is like ... oh there is actually grip here. Let's go for it". Kallenhard (the turn with the highlight move 13:44 and 5:18) got a new tarmac in 2019 and from the formation lap he knew that it was a little less damp there and that he'd have a lot of grip on the outside.
love this kind of content. it really shows your passion for the sport btw Kevin Estre is insane
The overtake into P2 was one of the best I’ve seen!
Kevin Estre+Grello+N24= The best combi you could get
Yup, I didn't have to wait for any TH-cam highlight video of his onboard, I chose to watch his onboard live, I knew it was going to be glorious.
Really hoping he gets the overall win at Le Mans this year in the 963.
great commentary - kevin's 13:46 overtake is insane!!!! just what i would have done if the tyres on my metro were at the right pressure. Enjoy your year of racing Jimmy, with Misha and the third one 😬- I'll be tracking ya!👍👍
Jimmy’s love for racing really comes across in this video, it’s great to see. Nearly as good as Kevin Estre’s skills during this start
Kevin Estre overtaking on the grass last year still has it for me!
I didn't plan to watch the whole thing, but after the first corner in the race, I was invested. Stellar race craft!
Ahhh, Jimmer! Cheers, mate! :) Mega, that you do this real race review, maybe also some more of those in the future? That'd be boss! x
Jimmer please do more of these car cam videos. That was lots of fun to watch.
That was amazing! Great commentary too. I would love more reaction content like this tbh. This is drastically different to other reaction content where you're actually might know something and add a lot of value with your commentary.
Love the commentary!! And that drive was something else, what a driver
Sort of reminds me of Kimi's 2020 Portugal start. Damp track and just passing from all over.
Insane driving skills! Loved it!
Just this past Monday I got to drive stick for the first time (and in a 4th gen WRX at that). I'm honestly surprised at how well I did, I only stalled once in 30 minutes of driving, even though we were just driving around an empty parking lot. Honestly, it felt quite natural, and I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that if you let the clutch out slowly, you can start moving without touching the gas. My neighbor who owned the WRX and was teaching me was also impressed with how well I got on with it, and I'm looking forward to driving stick with him again.
Watching onboard racing always humbles me. I always think oh how easy it is but I don’t think I could ever survive a lap in his position let alone make up places. I truly respect racing drivers and admire their talent.
Great drive, but even greater in-depth commentary. Thanks.
When I was watching this years N24 I made a comment that watching Kevin is a driving lesson in of itself. Anything you think you know about driving he throws out the window and shows you the error of your ways. Absolute mad lad. The few laps proceeding their withdrawal from 2023 N24 were just insane. Quali times in full race config at NIGHT. Completely nuts.
Thanks for the video Jimmer, enjoyed it.
Amazzzing commentary Jimmy !
Loved this
Such superb driving!
My favorite example of racecraft above and beyond was, I think F1 Australia, and Schumacher noticed some oil on the track off-line when he was trying to get past Jarno Trulli, and over the next few laps by attacking Trulli on corners before the oil patch he maneuvered Trulli into driving over the patch, losing grip, sliding wide and Schumacher had the place. It wasn't for the lead, it wasn't a big dramatic race, I just love the level of commitment to even notice the oil patch, then to realize he could use it, then to put a multi-lap multi-step plan in place and execute it AND have it work was just great.
Then there is the crazy Rossi/Stoner race where Rossi decided he just could not, no matter what, allow Stoner to lead before the race, then he went out and did it in the extreme. THAT however was a race for the ages.
Great video, Jimmer. Love this format.
What an epic production you've done 👌
I was there when this happend, it was crazy to suddenly see the Grello so far in front after the very first lap, i couldnt believe it.
That pass on the M6 for P2 was insane.... Amazing drive!
This was really an amazing piece of racing... well done on the commentary and rewinds as needed... edge of my faux racing chair...
His driving is so good! In GT7 I run the same livery on the 911 RSR as he does. But that scream at 6:20 tho 💀
Keven deserves every accolade anyone has ever given him as a driver. All the Porsche Motorsport GT program drivers are good, but Keven is something special.
Kevin was obviously paying attention when Takumi raced the Todo school demo car and had the vanishing line pulled on him.
Good video Jimmer
im pretty new to motorsports, only been watching f1 and always wanted to watch other races but small tiktok brain cant pay attention for long. You make it better :). Would love to see you make videos like this for other insane races .
9:29 might be my favorite bit of audio i have ever heard on the internet. "This thing REEEES on the back straight" lmfao
that double tap on the accelerator to keep the car straigh was HUUUGE.
Insane commitement and talent from Kevin!
Never even considered the potent mind games of showing up in someone's mirrors just before a braking point, going to be watching out for that everywhere now.
Thanks for sharing this Jimmer!
Not hard to see why you are such a competitive driver Jimmy, every time you watch something like this you are learning your craft as much as you are enjoying the show. Keep going mate....
Fighting hard for the lead going almost side by side through the Schwedenkreuz on a damp circuit on slicks. Jesus. This corner is an absolute horror even on a completely dry track and lapping alone. To do that in this conditions and race other driver requires otherwordly gigantic balls and basically lack of any nerves and fear. Mad respect, for all the drivers and for Estre ofc
At 15:45 you talk about how you're loving the sound of the Porsche's flat 6 engine but what you're hearing currently as the car is going around the track is actually the sequential gearbox. The F6 would sound a bit different & likely only able to be heard if it was from the outside. Unless referring to generally hearing them on streets/tracks & not this one particularly then 100%, beautiful sounding. Almost on par with V12's & V10's!
There's actually way more than 140 cars in the race Jimmy. When we ran there in the Production class back in 2006 there was 220 cars and I'm sure there's always over 200 cars since also... Loved the commentary and what an amazing bit of driving from Kevin Estre....... balls of steel !! :)
Not clickbait. So many risks taken, but handled like an absolute master.
The sense of speed is crazy
ikr wide angle lenses as onboard cams should be the standard for all series!
