Rudy, you've worked in wall street and I'm sure there were times when you had to either look yourself in the mirror or a client and say its over. Cut your losses because loosing half now is better than 0. All signs and data is showing this box is heading to $55 within 20 days. Keeping this TCG around is rewarding bad behavior. Mike has made too many bad management calls from IP to over printing, missing deadlines, to now having an identity crisis. Its time to take this game behind the barn if you know what I mean. Shed the dead weight and put your focus on rewarding CCGs that deserve it. Mike had his chance and blew it. Its not personal, its business.

I FINALLY saw MetaZoo at a local Target a few months ago. It was those triple blister packs that come with 3 packs, a special card, and small coin. I bought 1 just to see how the cards are and because I did want some. And I think I am the singular person that has bought any of the like 20 they had. They are still just sitting there while YGO, Digimon, DBS, and everything else sells.

I cannot fathom how anyone is surprised and find it even harder when a metazoo fan makes out it was the best thing ever.

MetaZoo is stuck in a "Try to please everyone; please no one" situation. I thought the Topps x MetaZoo product was good, it was like 80's Garbage Pail Kids but with their monsters. They have to find their niche and remain in it and being a CCG ain't it. I wouldn't be surprised that the numbers on Topps x MetaZoo was better than any of their latest set.

@@christianmathew398 I know people like this who see really good opportunities with poor executions because they have the "We never know until we try" mentality. I truly believe the Hello Kitty licensing that they got, if they were to release a "Topps x MetaZoo Kitties" with plenty of parallel sets like "Topps Chrome Platinum 70th", it would sell greatly than their CCG Kitty. I bet most of the Hello Kitty collectors collect the brand and don't care about playing the CCG MetaZoo card game. They may make less money by going with Topps (royalties with partnership) but I believe it would cement their future by being the 2020's Garbage Pail Kids style cards. I think I saw more people being excited by opening the Topps series than their original stuff.
@@christianmathew398 Strong management makes such a big difference. The contrast between FAB and Metazoo has been interesting. FAB seems to have found it's niche after the Monarch debacle whereas Metazoo seems to lurch from one disaster to the next. So many of Metazoo's problems have been self inflicted.

People involved in these card games need to pay people like Rudy as advisors for the direction of making their product desirable. The amount of money lost from mistakes will far exceed the amount spent on consulting.. Stop the nonsense.
Lorcana won’t die because of their big print but the scalpers are losing their shirts. As a One Piece player I hope Bandai does the same because the scalping will kill the game if they don’t print game pieces to play with. Right now most meta decks have many STarter deck cards that you can only get in other languages except EN. It’s so bad that people come to play tourneys and 1/4 just get their packs and promo and retire. No reason to actually play if you don’t have these key cards. I’m giving Bandai to March to reprint. After that I’m dumping all my game pieces and leaving because I actually wanted to play but not for $1000 a deck full of C from starter decks.

Metazoo has alwaysed confused me regarding who their target audience is, there are cute characters like wizard-frogs and then you have a scary bunny with a blood dripping axe that look like it belongs in five nights at freddy´s universe. Maybe this is what people like about Metazoo but I have never really understood the whole thing.

The two people I've ever seriously discussed MZ with said the most outlandishly odd compliments about it I automatically assumed they just had bad taste or fewer brain cells or an extra chromosome.
The short version of those convos are:
One unironically compared MZ to alpha MTG. The other unironically said artists are overrated.
Also cards like Black Mass, which I am shocked TCGPlayer still list, since they are so sensitive to ban Sorcery cards from their site, but lol MZ is good to go with the Satanic set.

With what Hearthstone was able to do for Digital Card Games. I can't believe any TCG would think it is okay to not release a digital version of their game. The Big 3 had digital games before then, just not on the scale Hearthstone achieved it.
I don’t mess with HS because it’s digital only. Eventually it’ll be shut down and you’ll have nothing to show for it. Fun game and I enjoy playing it but I just feel like you have to pay to play a bit and I’m not there yet mentally.

Having a "holiday sale" bundle thing for 20% off market price a little bit after launch seems a lot less egregious then pretending you don't have stock and letting the price spike to 10x what it should be before dumping your boxes and hosing everyone for like 90% of what they payed for.

This game had some fun ideas and style but completely fails in the whole gameplay part which is the entire reason a TCG exists and keeps value (if you're not Pokémon).

@@bengibson6526 I have played it about a hundred times with a couple people and have cards from each set until the UFO set. It CAN be fun, but it ends up feeling like a discount lazily-constructed janky version of Magic so why should anyone play it when Magic also has unsets with certainly better well-thought gameplay mechanics that actually feel fun to play. I've played many TCG's including all the major ones and some of the indie ones and Metazoo is by far the most obvious of a lazy cash-grab there is.

it should be clear whats the strategie on low tier cardgames is, how to buy them.. You just wait a few months, till it gets on sale or a dumb and then, if you are interested you can buy it. Its the same with all low tier cardgames, metazoo, disney lorcana etc.. And at the end rudy is 50 % of the Playerbase of Metazoo, cause literaly nobody is buying them or even play with them.

Really though, i loved the comparisons between metazoo flesh and blood 1+ year ago. It was always evident which one woukd stand the test of time, ever since the complaints of people getting banned from the discord for criticism/feedback.

This just sounds like mismanagement... and that makes this a very risky asset. Contrast with Sorcery, where management had set a floor on the beta boxes, and if you decide to go under that, you will never be able to make future purchases again.

As much as I think Metazoo is bad I don't think that's a fair comparison. Lorcana could've printed anything and it would've been successful because it's Disney. It's harder for a TCG with no IP to compete.

Glad I liquidated right as the Hello Kitty “hype” happened. I was around since the Kickstarter but it’s clear Metazoo & Mike don’t have what it takes to run a successful tcg/ccg. I stuck through the over printing era and post and just had to be honest with myself. Hope it turns around but after the Nth “uh-oh”…..

I wanted this set for collection purposes but damn metazoo makes the ugliest cards ever. The pictures are cute but are surrounded by a horrible design and trashy red borders. They look like old Myspace pages.

EXACTLY! Pokemon, YGO, and MTG aren't still going today because people were hoarding thousands and thousands of boxes 20 years ago. They are still going because they were bought by PLAYERS and people wanting to collect the cards. Remember how back in the day, most of the expensive cards were only maybe $100? Where as today, Rudy would say that's a sign of a bad/dead CCG.

Metazoo is done. The game just isnt playable. It is too difficult to teach new players. There is a very,very small online community. It isnt good and the real world surroundings gimmick feels cheesy.
