They're also determined to destroy the secondary market. They want the only product people want to buy is the next set release. Once those cards are worthless, all the Timmys will be hyped for the next release. How anyone can't see what's going on is very telling.
It's a sad time to be in Magic. 😞
It's the Konami method and it is the reason why I quit YGO long ago
@@monkey39128 I'm actually having a great time collecting 2003 and earlier cards. I haven't bought any modern in well over a year.
@@TurboWizard69 Even Yu-Gi-Oh is better because they have stuff like the hard to hit Ghost and Starlight rares. It's not perfect but it feels better than just sticking a number on the card. Apart from that they're pretty much the same unfortunately.
I mean, far be it for a corporation like Hasbro to stick the landing, but theoretically there is a balance where there is some value returned to their product from the secondary market by judiciously reprinting staple cards in low supply to maintain a balanced value.
For example.... force of will - it wasn't a bad thing for the game, certainly not for legacy as a format, that new printings of FoW happened.
If Hasbro wants to put silly serialized chase cards so Timmy's can feel cool cracking boxes that's fine too. It doesn't have a negative impact on the value of the rest of the product.
However, as is infinitely more likely, Hasbro lacks even 1% of the nuance necessary to do anything other than try to milk secondary market prices for old cards entirely onto their side of table for profits. The accumulated damage to the good will has diminishing returns etc etc
☆ I sit here watching my collection lose value by the second ☆
"Who killed MTG?" Clue editon... It was Mark Bathwater, on stream, with "this product is not for you".
Rudy, you mean 30 years ago while watching Jurassic Park in theatres you didn't have a dream that someday 30 years later you would be able to play a shirtless Jeff Goldblum in Magic The Gathering?
Jeff goldblum tribal. Let's go.
I do not see why collectors want serialized cards over other versions. The serial number stamp ruins the eye appeal of the cards and those stamps look worse than the date stamps from prerelease promos. I honestly do not understand why the stamp had to be on the artwork. It could have been in the border or a corner of the text box. I think they messed up big time. I gather cards because I like the art, the showcase frames, etc. Everytime I look at a serialized card and a regular card, side by side, I genuinely want the one without the stamp.
I agree. I don't get it why they made it so rough and ugly and prelease stamp is just so much more elegant (which I'm buying). Maybe they can make more elegant serialization afterwards that is clear improvement...with smaller numbers also at some point
I want profits bruh, the bigger the better, screw the rest ( oДo)📈🚀
It's intentional. They are NOT intended to be play pieces. It's a rather common practice among card printing. I agree with you... but it's a method of authentication.
It's so fucking ironic since the very first serialized, the "secret" reversed Viscera Seer, had the numbers stamped like the prerelease promos, which was way more beautiful and elegant.
I’m going to play magic until the day I die.Regardless of what my cards are worth. So sell me all your black lotuses for $1.
Don't sell to him, I;ll play $1.50 ( o.o)
That’s the thing. Wotc doesn’t care if you play till you die. They care that you buy their product
Sad.
@@TDancausEoh no, I want to play their game I’m willing to pay to keep playing
I just play with proxies and remove the whole pay-to-win mechanic altogether.
All I'm seeing is Rudy trying to cover up his singing tree buyout
😂😂😂
👀
gaaaaaaaaaaame pieces!!!
Sorey im not paying 200 for a draft box they can keep there cards
It's starting to look like they're not capable of changing course, at least right now.
There was a time that you would take your trade binder and someone would pull several cards for trade with some worth more than 20 or 30 bucks. Now they pull cards and the value is often less than a buck per card. There is no secondary market
100%
Truth
Blake clearly stated there will be one shock in each of those boxes. They come out a bit after Karlov Manor so a tiny bit longer distance to Ravnica Remastered.
But I truly doubt the Ravnica Remastered prices will hold due to lack of EV in den box....
Next product I won't engage with
Blake is a pathetic person. He is the poster child of what's wrong with that company. Full of themselves horrible humans with no hearts.
Came for Timmy's Emporium, stayed for Princess Rudy! Such wide-eyed innocence!!!
Princess Rudy bout to get stuck in the washing machine
Rudy, if you are familiar in the sports cards market, then you'll understand that they can reprint the same card with the same art and different serialization. All they have to do is change the foiling design, pink foil, blue foil, green foil, red foil, gold foil, cracked ice foil, animal skin foil, etc.
It looks very underwhelming. I'm going to save my money to be disappointed with Modern Horizons 3.
I thought the shock lands spoilers on this Clue bs were a mistake, then I remembered it’s Hasbro! Just another Tuesday for Hasbro.
good they should print shocks into the ground. hate that if I want a "good mana package" the price is like 250$ or more with dual and tri lands
People with brains actually want cards worth something. I don't want to have worthless crap.
@@chesterfieldthe3rd929those value cards... should not be land.
Why don't you just print proxies?
@@Pers0n97 as of recently I have been doing that more too, If I could find an lgs that does proxies that would be more of an option too
The market doesn’t necessarily “like” serialized cards. I think it’s more that there is currently a greater supply of Timmy’s than serialized cards so the cards have artificial scarcity. Once enough serialized “game pieces” are printed we’ll see non 001/069/420 cards fall off.
Who cares that I might have 128/500 serialized of the 49th printing of the alternate art surge galactic foil Shivan Dragon?
I like them but I won’t buy them as a single.
Funny Rudy made an Idiocracy reference, I was just thinking people are literally getting stupider while getting louder and more confident...a truly excruciating combo to witness or have to deal with
Hasbro craves Brawndo
So true.
I'm actually interested in the Clue box and will probably get one just cuz....
This clue tie-in said to me that Hasbro approached Wizards and said “hey, find a way to plug our other products plz :)))”
"where everyone hugs each other with their mouths" My favorite quote of 2024 thus far!!! Love your takes Rudy, I agree whole heartedly. This is a strange time in Magic, it's both good and bad. I wish the people at the top of Hasbro would listen to some of us old heads with a position down on the streets of Magic are screaming. I've been collecting and playing since Alpha and Magic is going both in the right direction and wrong direction at the same time. Its like the prying fingers of number crunchers in the top brass of Hasbro are manipulating Magic's product releases and production to prop up the sagging tent of the overall business. There is so much positive happening in Magic, but as soon as it starts to head there they print a couple things into oblivion and flood the product and we all get left worthless stock sold to us at inflated prices. Control is key, they need to limit runs and offer real value in the products via chase pieces and limit the amount reprints i want them to bring back the fire JUST not printing things SO much.
They can make different kind serialization runs endlessly so it's not the end. How about etched foil serials with no issues with curling.
Shock Posters. It’s the art and treatment that matters. They will do new art.
You say they are destroying the value but you also make wizard's point for them. All these other card games are doing just fine with just a few chase cards and base copies being at most a few bucks. They do not care about our collections or LGS. That's made very evident by their inability to deliver products or promos for their most profitable event. And why should they care? The market has already showed what it wants not only with magic but most modern cards (games), and that's chase cards.
Brains apparently are hard to come by these days
Hold on, CCG can stand for either Collectable card game, or Customizable card game. And yes, I want to have my cake and eat it too.
If in two years Sorcery: Contested Realms becomes a established easy to find in stores tcg probably dumping my mtg collection and double down on Sorcery.

Who cares . Investing in magic is dumb
We need to schedule that dryer repair.
"From what I'm GATHERING"...I see what you did there.
Fetches can gain value, by being shifted and unbanned in pioneer. The serialized cards can be re seaerilized with different artwork.
They already have with The One Ring, and it hasn’t prevented people paying a massive premium for it.
Great job hasbro bankrupt Rudy!!
Hasbro is the WB of card games
more like disney's marvel
wotc will ruin serialization so hard.
The diversity on that box makes me want to preorder 10. How brave.
The artwork should have just been a middle-aged, overweight white dude with a neckbeard and a MALE teen with terrible odor and bad acne but also white, and that's it. Just two white guys. Hitting their goal demographic.
@@MrRayRockstar That does sound quite funny. 😂
spending money on magic with OP and Sorcery is very hard to justify these days
it's a tcg. you are the end user
It is sure to deliver a "shock" to the market value :^)
Ravnica remastered is going to suck 🐔
I believe Idiocracy is not just a movie but with the path we are on it is a prophecy. It will literally be the future unless we change drastically as a whole society, poor management has doomed us.
Honestly it is a movie that I find just as frightening as it is funny.
My wife is buying me this for Christmas! I'm so excited! But you keep feeding the algorithm. Ride that hate train!
Hasbro vs Alpha Investments
Who do you think wins?
Rudy can out wait anyone, he doesn't smoke, drink, or use addictive substances 📈
WotC is plummeting like a stone
Hasbro is too stupid to win
video 12 of me telling Rudy that I'll be in Florida October 2024, and would be thrilled to meet him and the 3.696969% ladies he keeps in his basement =)
There's absolutely no reason for them to not reprint shocklands with serial numbers. This is hasbro. They have 1000s of versions of monopoly.
"Mouth Hug" is from a Ron White comedy special
That rant was awesome! Haha
My son and I have been saying that for a bit now. After serialized cards. What's next???
Cards that come with a butler? Who are we Rudy?? Lol
Well said friend
So I will say this is a Football collector, every year the reprint the same players with the same styles of parallels which are numbered, and it still has a market. Fave players, color matches, rookies. I don't think serialized shocks with new art is an issue, the collector will want one of each for his shock collection. I think, I am unsure how its going to translate exactly. always down to discuss this more.
i like the game
I think you got it wrong Rudy. The original art doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t reprint them with different art and still make money.
Dumping hundreds of Dominaria Remastered boxes on Amazon doesn’t instill confidence in future remastered products.
TCG
Ravnica Ruined
Ravnica Refunded
Newcomer here. This Clue set has gotten me and two other friends into this. We are going to get it and we are all excited for it.
i thought you where part of the decision making and hasbro was doing a major shift. wtf rudy
Lands are the least fun part of a deck to buy. There I said it!
Serialized cards aren't it. Sorry.
1-2 foils per box is perfect.
I thought It was called TCG for tTrading card game XD...
Welp. At least I know when a good time to stock up on shocks will be. They may not hold a lot of value but at least theyre good cards.
This is true
They are legitimately good cards to play
Just be wise when paying for them
I'll be with you, nice and early when the big boys crack all their boxes and are just looking for case capital for the next break
"Mom! The Meatloaf Manor" good one Rudy.
Wait... The Clue thing isn't part of the Ravnica Remastered? I legitimately thought it was.
No you numpty. How could you confuse the murder mystery standard set with a remastered set. Yikes bro
@fastydave it's pretty easy seeing as a couple content creators mentioned confusion in the market on some of these products.
@@fastydave Probably because both have old border shocks, have Ravnica characters, etc.
They printed double-sided basic lands for Jurassic Park. Nothing stopping Wizards from printing double-sided Shock/Fetchlands. Or doing serialized outer space Shocks from Unfinity with the galaxy foiling; serialized Shocklands shoehorned into Portal 3 Kingdoms remastered with cool new Chinese artist illustrations...the permutations are endless. Even if the serialized shocks coming up are 1/500, then they could revisit the original art with new serializations of 1/200, 1/100, 1/50, 1 of 1...all with new art in new settings, because shocks have generic names that fit anywhere. That Moon Kingdom guy is full of turkey.
I didn’t need anything that was reprinted in Dominaria remastered so like a lot of people that was a dud set. This is looking to be even more pathetic. ANYONE NOTICE HOW SHITTY MTG ART IS GETTING???? Still some decent version and a few gems in each set but, those LCI Dino’s and recent secret Lair art is comically lame
If Magic the Gatherinf is worthless, then please sell me your cards for $.25 each!!!
the problem is theyre being reprinted TWICE in a month and a half, and the market is ALREADY saturated
Why aren’t the design teams talking to each other I don’t understand 😅😅
Not a surprise... I mean what else are they going to reprint...Karn that they just banned? LOL
Wow... legit *GaMePeiCeS*
Russian foil stomping ground - just to send the message ;)
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think the good game pieces should be affordable and printed frequently. They should honestly include a full land cycle in each commander deck, fetches, shocks, battlebonds, etc…
Edit: I stand by this, just have more lottery cards for investors and give the players the game pieces.
Reprints are good for players. Bad for investors. Anytime you see someone upset about reprints its because they're losing money. Their opinion is irrelevant. I've never seen someone refer to magic as a ccg.
YEP One Piece Card Game , no trade, no collect in it rudy
As soon as you said metazoo to a thousand, i switched off the video.
It's also hilarious that when something is good it's WOTC, when something is bad it's Hasbro 😂
The ONLY cards that will be "collectible" will be the fake rare serialized cards. Which I don't get because anyone can get the same exact card without the stupid numbered stamp on them. WOTC should make a true chase, serialized card that there's not also a $2 copy off.
Good idea but it would need to not be an actual playable card
@@rebelking_21 it still could be a highly playable card. I really meant just not the same exact variant. Like do a special variant that's only available for the serialized cards. Then maybe they won't all collapse in a year aside from 2 cards
@@mfdoom1898 so have serialized cards but then also have some kind of foil serialized cards that are more rare and the foil will make them keep the value because they are more rare? Maybe just make 100 of them?
@@rebelking_21 as in not able to get the same exact card without the stamp, foil or not foil. Nice try on the gotcha though 😉
@@mfdoom1898 oh you're a keen one! I'll get you next time!!! This won't be the last you see of me!!!
I'm hype for clue ub lol there's always someone
Honestly, I hope you do buyout hasbro when the shares plummet.
I’ll buy out Hasbro if the stock goes down to 69 cents per share.
Blows my mind people are out there buying non RL cards and thinking they will hold value in the current reprint environment.
Nice, I need more shocklands for my decks
Its not the end of shocklands its the beginning of $2 shocklands
They were already there. Shocklands are about to hit Theros scry land prices.
7:00 of course people want chaise cards and special cards etc.. but what you get, if you fill a boosterbox full with chaise cards, is a 400 dollar commander master setbox nobody wants to buy.
whatever mic you are using it is really good. I'm using high end audio setup and it is actually really good audio on this video.
To be fair, that's how you make the game more accessible, print the shit out of it and let all the Timmy's play with "expensive" cards. Leave the rare shit for the ones that want the expensive shit.
Just buy Bitcoin instead...
Just print proxies, all of you
With how things are going, I’ve become black pilled and could less how much my collection is worth anymore. It’s not worth the headache. I’ll just play the game and have fun with my friends.
Isn't it suppose to be TCG = Trading Card Game? and not CCG
Shock land challenge!!! Yay
Yeaahh.... And the Unfinity Shocks are sitting there also a little bit disappointed 😅
I thought RVR wasn't released for another month, but Amazon sent me the bundle I ordered 4 days ago🤔
Instead of original art they are just going to do special versions of them also serialized… Neon ink, poster, etc.
God damn, stop the reprints
wuhu! I'm the 1000th thumbs up!
Good point, you can't indeed reprint already serialized cards, allegedly. Didn't think about that.
Aren’t there multiple serialized cards of the same sports star? Good enough for Lebron James good enough for Birds of Paradise
Folks!
I love Rudy ❤❤❤❤
Me too! ❤️
I like cheap shock lands
Endgame has been reached
MTG MOX MAN already covered this.
Second Hand Rudy? Boomshmuck
I honestly think its planned. I feel like they are picking the cards that are going to be sought after in the main set. With the limited print run they assume people will want another shot at the card or cards they are after.
Possibly
What's stopping them reprinting serialized cards with different artwork? The Bobs probably think that's a fantastic idea😬
