I have a 95 chev 2500 np4500. It was the noisiest tranny in gear out of gear clutch in or out. The kid I bought it from said he changed all fluids. One year after I bought it I was going to pull it. I drained out a total of 1/2 quart of tranny oil. Knowing this I added 4 quarts and she purrs and shifts quiet. Check your fluid first

Referring to the clutch pedal being in or out, correct?

What about when the clutch is only partially out? For example, I want to do a medium to somewhat quick start, so I ride the clutch just a little and slowly release as it's catching and accelerating like normal, at certain pressure it grinds....any help is appreciated.

This just happened to my truck, sounded the same, and yes, it was the pilot bearing. Wore down the input shaft enough that the shaft had to be replaced

My 6speed outback makes a noise when I get the transmission in neutral in between changing gears.. it does it when I have the car turned off and play with the gears just as much as when the car is turned on.. My transmission shifts just fine but when going through gears, it make a noise. Basically this noise has been going on for a while and its always when getting back to neutral before selecting any gears. The noise also seems to be mainly in the area of the gear shifter but coming from the transmission.. Any idea as to what could cause this? Its my daily so its hard for me to just let my mechanic have a look at it (which is probably having to take the transmission out) and me having no car while I live in the country side.. I might just get him to check when I get my timing belt done in the upcoming months but any input would be appreciated as 100$/h adds up quick just to find out whats going on.
