  • 350z Pilot or Throwout bearing noise?
    Initially you would think this is a throwout bearing since the noise seems to go away when I press (disengage) the clutch. However, after second half of the video the noise remains with and without clutch engagement. This noise comes on and off seemingly at random times. I am leaning towards a bad pilot bearing but any help is greatly appreciated!

    I have the same issue on my Z after I was teaching someone how to drive it... not knowing they were riding the clutch the whole time. It needs a lot more gas (higher revs) to even get the car to roll. Still think it's just the throw out bearing only? Car doesnt accelerate well anymore without a lot of gas.

      @@stylewithaltitude I got an exedy oem replacement with a solid 18lb flywheel for like $400, all you need for 350 or less hp really, she grabbs gooood, chirps the brand new 10.5 wide tires just a tad even when banging 3rd gear 👍

    My 350 makes a rattling noise but when clutch is in the noise stops does anyone know?

    • @chrissosa8597

      RoR Specs may be the throw out bearing on it as well. if it’s a really loud rattling sound, it may be that. i just had that problem with my g35, had a neighbor whose a mechanic listen to it, said it worse case scenario it may be a rod knock. took it to a shop and they said it was something with the clutch, so most likely your situation may be the same as mine was

      Sorry its kinda a late reply, but it’s the pilot bushing. If it was a throw out bearing then it would rattle when the clutch is pressed in and make no noise when the pedal is not pushed in.

      i have this sound that the car makes when the clutch is engaging it doesn’t effect its performance buts its a very noticeable noise when the clutch engages

      My 06 G35 has a loud rattling noise sounds like bones chattering but as soon as I clutch pedal down the noise stops and there's a quick "hiss" now every time I clutch pedal down and change gears...

    did you ever figure it out?

    • @nfloresta86
      @nfloresta86  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea it was the throw out bearing.. actually the concentric slave cylinder since it's an HR.. stock CSC and aftermarket pressure plates don't mix

      @adrianthom13 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nicobeast so im assuming you have to replace the clutch, flywheel and the throwout bearing? this is happening to my 04 mustang and it just started out as the tob but now im getting the same sound you got on your 350 so im really hoping i dont need a new clutch. im about to swtich out the bearing tomorrow

    • @nfloresta86
      @nfloresta86  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +adrianthom13 in my case I had to swap out the concentric slave cylinder which has the throw out bearing in it. if your mustang has the traditional fork and throw out bearing mechanism you should be able to get away with just the throw out bearing. good luck!

      @@nfloresta86 My G37 was making this same exact noise and I replaced the csc already..it went away and now I hear a light screeching sound when the clutch pedal is depressed. Doesn't really affect the driving now. Did you replace the pilot bearing too?

    • @marcelofloresta6763

      @@andremichael1218 Yea I ended up changing out the whole thing: Clutch, Flywheel, CSC, Pilot Bearing and Clutch Master Cyl. I could have probably gotten away with replacing less but I figured since it was being torn apart anyways I would just get it all replaced.
