What made this game so satisfying was the character's cries of anguish and defeat as you were racing them. N.Gin's smug "Too bad" made him forever my rival, and every time I land a bomb, missile, etc, his cries of anguish are like sweet, hilarious music. And the same goes for every other character, minus the eternal enmity I reserve for that rat-bastard N.Gin. The same mirth was sorely lacking in the game's successors, and for me, it was why they were so inferior ... :-/ Incredible game. I can't wait for the remake :-)
A quick tip in the power slide. Try hang on the sliders red bar as long as you can (max it out whitch is not hard) and then press L1. If you time it well all 3 times, you get a much longer turbo boost.

I got it for Christmas in 1999, gave it to a friend as a trade, and then go new copy in 2003 from KB Toys who were still selling it as a greatest hits. Then I gave that copy to my cousin. So before Nitro Fueled I hadn't played this game for 16 years.
I was playing this when i was 5. Let me tell you those where some good times, rainy days sitting on my bedroom floor trying to collect those damn crystals
Now that the remastered version of the original games has sold way over what Sony planned it would. Would be awesome for them to give this the same treatment even as a dlc.

Sure I can; MK64 looks better. Symphony of the Night has almost no 3D models, and that looks better than all 3 games. How is a lack of 3D modelling relevant to how good a game looks?
My favorite video game by far. CTR is a unique game that is polished in every aspect. The only video game for me, which has not a single fault, and the only one that I give a perfect 10. If we do not count the absence of N Oxide as a playable character ;(

I always looked back more fondly on the ps2, but I mostly just played gta on that, I was past the age where I would have played a game like crash bandicoot. I might have to take another look at the ps2 library now too
In GT6 review he said that GT Sport "doesn't count" as title of the saga, and I agree with him. He MAY eventually review the game in a year or so, when it will be more complete. Polyphony announced THE real career mode is coming in December, but they'll keep adding event throughout 2018. To a Gran Turismo fan this game looks incomplete to say the least, or simply outside of the saga.
CNK, while not shown, is a direct sequel to CTR (in my opinion and theory). on one of the first tracks in CNK you can see oxides station/ship with a wing destroyed. i think that after being beaten by Crash and the others oxide leaves to find a new planet, which so happen to be under the control of yet another speed hungry ruler seeking entertainment and planitary domination thru racing. this is how crash and the other get into the events of CNK, oxide tells of there speed and gets all three teams (crash, cortex, and gasmoxia) into the planetary racing tournament. (CTR is better than CNK)
i think they'll re-make this and release it.. it'll be online.. prob will get an announcement at psx 17.... i just think this because the 3 remade crash games sold so well
Cloud Air It seems very likely. They did say they would do more remakes (of Crash Bandicoot. Many got ahead of themselves thinking they were referring to Spyro) if the games did well. PSX 2017 would be perrrfect timing.
My all time favorite game for the PS1, also you didnt mention that if you play with 3 or 4 player the game reduces details to hold a smooth gameplay, 1 example is PolarPass where you can see the Big Polar Bear in the ice (1-2Player) in 3-4 player you can not see him because the ice is not see trough, its solid, but still it looks good and i destroyed one CTR backup cd for New year with 3 friends played from 8pm to 6am, colors started to get reddish and when i tried to play at 11am again the cd could not be rad anymore.

Resident Evil & Metal Gear Solid are not as good as CTR, not by a long shoot. CTR has simple controls that anyone can pick up and play without instructions & has tons of hidden goodies game engine is outstanding no popup draw in, and the art style of the game has aged well compare to the others it, looks fresh even today, while the others look like ancient dated relics.
it triggers me that he doesnt take a single fkn shortcut and dont forget to mention you get some extra minus time, when you collect all boxes on time trial!
3:20 that's because the ps3/psn version stinks. if you only played that one for years and you manage to try it on a pc emu or an iso on a jailbroken ps3, you'll get hard from how smooth it is

You did not discuss the statistics of the racing abilities for each of the characters and state that the character selected must be played throughout the adventure. 2. You did not say that there are 5 sets of 4 tokens of the same colour to collect in order to unlock the respectful gem cup. 3. You did not go into extra detail of how the five gem cups work; the final of which where you race all the bosses. 4. You got one point wrong. All relics must be platinum in order to reach 101% on adventure. 5. You did not say that 10 relics and all 5 gems collected will unlock two more tracks where you only need to collect a relic from each. 6. You got another point wrong. For the arcade cups, it's not necessarily that you have to win all the races. The main idea is to get the most points you can in order to win. 7. You did not say that there is one character that can only be accessed by a cheat code and that Nitrous Oxide is never playable. 8. You did not give details or thoughts of the rolling credits after you fully complete adventure. 9. You did not give the game your own rating like how much out of 10 or how much of 5 stars. 10. You did not give concern, (if you ever actually had any), about if you want a remaster of the game just like the N. SANE TRILOGY and what you want to see there and then.

I liked CTR better than Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo. Much more enjoyable to play.

As a PlayStation over N64 owner growing up... I put a lot of my life and fun into this game.... CTR is the best kart game not on a Nintendo console.
