I'm sure this has been said before, cause this is a 3 year old review. But the cheesy music is part of the charm of Daytona USA, without the "horrible" music its not Daytona USA anymore. The worst thing about Daytona CCE is that they replace the music and altered gameplay. It just looks like Daytona USA but plays nothing like it. The 2011 HD re release is the original arcade game in every way shape and form and personally i wouldn't want it any other way. Anyway, any chance of seeing a review of Dayclona in the future ? That would be Burning Road, a very obvious rip off of Daytona USA on the ps1.
Always the loudest cabinet in the arcade, the one in Corrigan's on Scarborough seafront was deafening, you could hear that bastard theme tune above every machine combined. Congrats on the 60k, well earned, you should have easily 10 times that many subs. Always evenhanded, well researched reviews.
@@liammeech3702 tbh I haven't been in that arcade (Corrigans, Scarborough) in about 10yrs, and I can't remember if it was still there. I usually take a walk down that every few weeks, I'll have a look in next time I'm passing. I'd be amazed if it was still there since 1993ish, probably beside Hard Driving, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the shooter with the mounted Uzi (Operation Wolf?).
A tip for Dreamcast Daytona 2001, when using a controller keep the analogue control stick forward, so in other words steer the car left and right with the analogue stick in the forward position. This way you will keep the car more under control.
Ok, Gamesack. Nah. That's not how Daytona is supposed to control. What other driving game has such poor controls that people need to apologize for it by coming up with retarded ways to play it?
@@gaylordfocker7990 I know it's not how to control but when I first had Daytona on Dreamcast all those years ago I found that this method didn't feel so twitchy on the control of the car. I use a steering wheel now and it's the best way.
The Jeffry statue rotation is also present in the PS3 port, as well as stopping the reels on Three Seven Speedway and holding the view buttons to choose a song.
I was born in 2000, but I still remember this Arcade Daytona USA. This Arcade is one of my favorite Arcade Game 90s. I Playing in Timezone Game Center. Very Nostalgic Arcade Game 90s❤
I used to have to pay two bucks a race whenever I felt like a dose of Daytona. Long live technology!!! Also quick way to win every race: set AI to easiest, time limit to least then overtake them all and let the clock run out! It credits you with 1st and counts as a win :D
@M RO Not really the other ones are still valiant efforts that tried their hardest to capture the Feel of the Arcade with the limitations they had & make something beautiful out of it in it's own way.
I just recently bought this after having the demo for years. Along with Sega Rally Online Arcade. I wish there were physical releases of these games (I know about Sega Rally Revo, I have that).
Typically the reason why they don’t include features from earlier ports is because the ports use different data formats which can’t be converted back to the arcade format for the new port, meaning it would take a lot of effort to recreate the tracks and cars from scratch and often they don’t have the time and budget for it. The same thing happened with the new Virtua Racing Switch port, the developers wanted to include the 2 new cars and tracks from the earlier 32x port but the data wasn’t compatible and they couldn’t recreate it in the limited time they had.
Fun fact: The original arcade machines cost $20k back in 1993 because the technology that went into the circuit boards inside was incredibly advanced at the time.
Daytona USA, one of, if not the *BEST* arcade racers of all time. If you're here to judge me... don't talk. If you are here and agree with me, hit the like button and share your positive thoughts on this game.
@Ben Schubert While I don't usually support comments like this I can honestly agree with that Statement as Daytona has so much to give & so much likableness & versatility.
Doesn't matter if the lobbies are dead if you're only using it to play multiplayer with your friends. It even makes it easier to recreate the old arcade multiplayer style with a couple of consoles and TV's.
The Daytona games seem to have the same formula as the Sega Rally games, in that the original has just a few tracks, the sequel has more to offer and the third looks incredible but with the hardest controls in the series which takes a lot of getting used to. Man, I wish there was a 4th game in both series with proper line-up of cars and tracks and responsive controls, and not just another re-release! However, if they do decide to re-release these games, may I suggest the second ones in the series?
Great vídeo bro... however.. to say that NASCAR is simple was too much. is a high performance competition, driving in ovals requires great precision and expertise, especially with the dismay of running in cars without electronic aids, to more than 300 km/h side by side with another 40 race cars. always to the limit in that thin line where you go as quickly as possible without losing control.
I disagree about Daytona USA having less polygons than Virtua Racing, it looks so much better than VR in terms of geometric details and has much smoother models, and the Model 2 can render 2 million polygons per second, (or 880,000 with full shading and texture filtering) whereas VR’s Model 1 only renders 180,000 at maximum. If Daytona rendered less than 180,000 it would be a huge waste of an arcade board. Anyway, this is a good review and I enjoyed it, but I also disagree with your opinions on the music, it’s super cheesy but it’s amazing at the same time, it’s so charming in its cheesiness and I just love it.
The feeling of playing Daytona USA on an arcade machine cannot be emulated on any console or emulator per se. I still remember the feeling of sitting down, inserting the quarters with 5 or 6 of your buddies on the side joining in, and the announcer shouting in your face" Gentlemen, start your engines." And the machine had pressure on the steering wheel, making it even more realistic. Those were "Good Times" pun intended, who understood give it a like.
@The Self Proclaimed Retrogamer Well yeah but you still feel the Spirit, Dedication & Vibration that the Game beholds as well as the fun, tactile-ly responsive & remarkable gameplay. With it being in the Comfort of your own home that creates it's own unique experience that could instill or re-imagine the Nostalgia that it blesses/blessed you with eloquently. As long as you're enjoying yourself, you're chill & pleased, your control method is the most ideal, Controls that you'll need are setup where you'll remember them, the Skies are Blue & you got that smooth 60FPS then there's no truly wrong way to Burn those tires & Start rolling. Working with what you got instigates room for improvement in how you enhance & build upon & Sparks the Mind.
The song is literally the best part of this memory, the rest of the game was always juicin my bank, almost as bad as Initial D or Battle Version. By the time this hit consoles, I was already on PC. Great times!

I know this an old video and maybe you've learned by now, but dude, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are NOT REMAKES, they are remasters. You also complained that they should have added more tracks and cars and such to the PS3/Xbox 360 versions, which means you completely forgot that these versions cost less than $10 (and even less when they were on sale), so it's unrealistic of you to expect a development effort reserved for a $60 retail release.
