@@deedeemerry1295 it is impressive actually, Sony are wizards at optimisation and pushed the PS2 to it's limits. For Microsoft to come out swinging with their first track racing game having this much detail, stability and all round quality, the 30 fps as opposed to 60, is very understandable.

You forgot that a very important factor of Forza over GT was the sound design. Cars sounded waaaaay better than GT's vacuum cleaners. In fact, fm1 and two were the only forza games to feature decent (realistic) stock engine exhaust sounds that change with upgrades. All of the later forzas had their final exhaust sound as the stock sound.

    • @tgipro6387

      @CrSnds ปีที่แล้ว +1

As a person who grew up with Gran Turismo, I immediately noticed the quality of the car sounds in Forza Motorsport 1.
Now what's remarkable is that GT4-GT6 completely nailed the sound of the Ford GT. GT Sport and GT7, I don't know what went wrong. Forza 1 had a few flaws on the car sounds but not many. Examples are the most popular Ferraris (F40, F50 & the Enzo). Another thing I'm nitpicking at is the lack of small details on the some cars that have rising spoilers after hitting 70mph or act as an airbrake (Mercedes SLR McLaren, Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari Enzo, and the McLaren F1). This continued on until Forza 4. GT4 was the first to nail that but Forza was the first to get V8 race car sounds right.

Why is it that early 2000's racing games have better customization than most racing games today? I remember having so much fun in this game and NFS just customizing my cars and seeing how they look in different weather conditions.

The online mode in the 1st Forza was amazing. Endurance Test track oval matches on online career mode for a big wager and the custom Drift rooms. Back then there wasn't a drift mode but everyone will make a custom room with a unique name label Drift room or sometimes a drift tournament. Some tournaments were sanctioned by OG's on Forza Central back in the day. I did not like forza 2 upon release based on the online experience , the creators for some reason did not include Test track oval which was among the most popular tracks online on the original Forza. Many full rooms with guys in Enzo's , Chrysler Me Four Twelve's and Integera's with the best top speed set up, bump drafting almost to 300 mph. It was really competitive, especially on the final laps timing the bump draft perfectly to launch you or your bump draft mate in 1st . These races would 90% of the time be 50 laps. Good times, I wish i can go back to 05-06

Nah, you needed to break in NFS games since the first one. GT license test teach things like slow in and fast out, breaking late enough but not too late and racing lines for shorter turns, but making them obligatory grind was always horrible. I can't control Veyron so can't do endurance races in GT6, and it's widely known as the easiest license-wise in the series. They're bull.

    • @medalgearsalad1419

Bullshit. GT had license tests because they wanted to emulate the realism about learning how to drive. Thats one way they stood apart from other racers at the time. This was confirmed by Yamauchi.

Really interesting to see a unbiased review of a Forza game by a GT diehard.
It's a great series, but be ready for them adding something, only to take something else away!
And some of their DLC policy was shameful, removing cars and tracks from the previous game and selling it as DLC!

Forza has tried appealing to the average racer and gone away from its roots and us who bought it from the begining. The parts to customize the cars was almost endless. Now you get a couple hoods and call it good. All the engine swaps came from the brand of the car. No stupid fake engine swaps. Id pay for a D.L.C if they would bring back alot of there old tracks. Great review. I was a long time GT fan as i didnt have an Xbox like yourself. But when i got the Xbox 360 and started to play the online and how the car class and upgrade system worked i quickly fell in love with Forza. GT will always hold the spot in my my heart that was the young kid who liked cars because his dad raced them, but now having multiple sports cars of my own and modifying them to race in organized events, Forza just takes the cake for me as far as where the games have ended up.
I look forward to your finding more gaming bliss in the later iterations of Forza!
P.S. - You'll want to start training yourself without using things like Traction control and stability, as they start to hurt your car's ultimate performance more and more with each new Forza; Especially if you want to try your hands at the online play.

Makes me want to go back and play this too :) despite any issues it has, it also has a ton of content, features and even small details in places or tracks that haven't been seen since! The original Drivatar A.I. was pretty neat too, with d the ability to complete lessons that allowed it to drive similar to your own driving style, which in a way was the foundations that built the Drivatar technology/feature they've been using since FM5 :o

If I had to pick 1 top game series out of my 250+ Xbox and Xbox 360 games that I own that I can honestly say is my all time favorite, It would be Forza Motorsport hands down. Project Gotham Racing was my first love of the genre but Forza Motorsport mastered the racing environment in my opinion during those days. There is no rubber banding in this game if you examine the A.I. lap times and I would like to mention the key to all Forza Motorsport games is finding the right lower level cars that outperforms its counterparts after it has been tuned to the maximum allowable racing class. I liked the Forza Motorsport 2 demo so much at the time it was released and the car that I chose to drive for the first time on that demo (The 2003 Acura RSX) that I ended up buying that car in real life and still drive it to this day! True Story.

Man, this brings back memories. Forza 1 was a great start to a staple series for the XBox. I absolutely loved the progression system and especially how transparent it was. The way assists affected your price money felt rewarding to push yourself. Unfortunately those two things were at least partially thrown out of the window at some point and by now the games are just throwing cars at you.
The handling was really tough in this one, and it changed a lot with most of the games in the series. Unlike Gran Turismo, which feels really stale.

Anyways the following year my house mate who worked at Civic Video came home with half a dozen burnt copies of Xbox games. Told me it's his turn to play Half-life 2, handed me the disks and on one of them, written on the white surface in black marker was *"Forza*"

Engine swaps with the description of maker, displacement, aspiration and what car it came from was so wild at the time, swapping the RB26dett into the 180sx and drifting... proper drifting, not the sledging nightmare of Gran Turismo im talking 3rd 4th even 5th gear full track drifts once you get good at it.
