Excellent explanation. Sir
Excellent presentation. Well explained. Many times we have observed during drydockin that steel bar weled to restrict the rudder jumping is missing. Now CE have to calculate the thickness of the bar to be welded. Jumping of the rudder also will damage the top cover by moving wanes.
We are happy to have you on TH-cam sir

how to paint hollow rudder inside area????
Thank you sir ... Regarding the rotary vane steering gear i have worked only with rolce royce one which it is explained by you... Can you make a video on the other type where ruddercarrier bearing is seperate like that of a ram and where jumping clearance is provided
It is already there in the other video..I think rudder drop...video
@@rmetcvideos Thank you for the reply sir, but i have watched that video... What i am saying about is the rotary vane with anchor bracket and anchor pin arrangement... The material available in internet is very limited with explanations. Thank you once again for making us understand the concepts in a clear way.. 😃
@@deepakshanmughan7928 can you please send me the link of where you saw in the In the Internet. I will get some idea
@@rmetcvideos generalcargoship.com/steering-mechanism-vane-type-gear.html
Sir please check this website..
The information is also present in a slide share website by a bangladeshi chief engineer...
Which i cant access the ppt fully... Only the image can be accessed...
Thanks.. The anchor brackets and anchor Pin actually absorb the reaction forces when the rudder is turning. The Bottom cover of the casing was not designed to handle the weight of the rudder and stock. So a separate carrier bearing is given. Since carrier bearings cannot prevent the lifting of the stock the concept of Jumping clearance becomes relevant when we have a carrier bearing . It is the makers choice.Different makres see different advantages in different methods.IN the example I had shown , the foundation bolts are doing this job. The Lifting is restricted by the foundation bolts and the top cover. BUt majority of the new ones have the bottom cover as the Rudder carrier bearing
Can you please post on rudder drop also
I guess it is already posted. Rudder carrier bearing video.
Thank u sir
