    Excellent presentation. Well explained. Many times we have observed during drydockin that steel bar weled to restrict the rudder jumping is missing. Now CE have to calculate the thickness of the bar to be welded. Jumping of the rudder also will damage the top cover by moving wanes.

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks.. The anchor brackets and anchor Pin actually absorb the reaction forces when the rudder is turning. The Bottom cover of the casing was not designed to handle the weight of the rudder and stock. So a separate carrier bearing is given. Since carrier bearings cannot prevent the lifting of the stock the concept of Jumping clearance becomes relevant when we have a carrier bearing . It is the makers choice.Different makres see different advantages in different methods.IN the example I had shown , the foundation bolts are doing this job. The Lifting is restricted by the foundation bolts and the top cover. BUt majority of the new ones have the bottom cover as the Rudder carrier bearing
