    Kent Bergsma, yes, good source of info. He indirectly helped me a lot with my '83 300TD. ANDDD the tool is indeed a linkage bushing install tool, and pretty bloody necessary if you dont want to drop the whole mechanism to do it.

      So it did improve but after it heats up it comes back but not as bad, think I’m going to give I a good cleaning and then check the plugs. I’ve already put a fuel pump on it and put new cap and rotor on it. May even clean the throttle body . I definitely noticed a difference though. May not have cleaned it enough on the first go around.

    They make little adapters you can stick inside that it's like windshield washer tubes where they have two ends or stay so mad at your local events auto parts stores I don't have a picture of one so you'll be able to fix that or a piece of brake line you could slide a piece in there and then slide your rubber hose on their find the same thickness hope that helps you

  • @archygrey9093

    Its worth getting a pair of chemical resistant gloves for handling solvents like that, it will eventually cause permanent nerve damage after constant exposure, plenty of retired mechanics have got it pretty bad from handling the stuff when they were younger.

    • @e-curb
      @e-curb ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mor important than simple nerve damage, those solvents get absorbed through your skin and into your bloodstream. Once they get to your heart, they cause irregular heartbeating. If you're older, your heart may be in poor shape to begin with. Adding that stress is a bad idea.

    Best money I ever spent on my W126, W116, W124, and W201 was sending off my injectors to be professionally cleaned and calibrated. Mechanical fuel injection is great and all, but man do these fuel systems get varnished up quickly.

      Not sure how much you were planning to put into the car, but it would also pay off to reseal the fuel pumps and install an inline filter between the tank and the pumps. The amount of crud in an old tank would make you grasp your pearls.

    I would like a mechanic to take care of what he does as long as Mike takes care of the engines of his "little ones." Two decades ago I had an Opel Kadett gsi 2.0 that with that displacement gave 130hp in the 80s, along with a very light chassis made the stroller get from 0 to 100 in 8.5 seconds and reach 206 kmh theoretical, which were something else with a unit already shot. The Achilles' heel of that mechanic was Bosch's "Motronic" injection system, and the ecu that tended to fail when touched by inexperienced hands ... My unit accelerated only occasionally from idle to injection cut and nowhere did they find the fault ... Mike wouldn't have taken to find it, :-p
