On point. Great way to test and adjust the ICV. For those of you watching this having ICV issues, you also need to check the voltage sent to the ICV from the Idle Control Unit. Should read 12 volts when the engine is first turn on then around 5 volts once the engine reaches operating temperature. If this is not the case, then the ICU should be checked or replaced.
@@inovahightechltd mine is a 560SL 1986. I don’t have an external power supply to measure that. Can I connect the icv to its power socket in the engine with key on ignition ? Will that provide me with enough current 1Amp? Thank you
Thank you so much. Just what I needed for my 1990 sl500 r129 series 5.0 l V8. That's awesome I have a high idle on a brand new idle control valve it could not be adjusted right or it could be the overlimit voltage relay I ordered one of those two just to make sure but that's an awesome demonstration that you did I really appreciate it it's exactly and I mean exactly what I needed to see.
Hi on the 420SEL the bypass tube is closed on one end. I don't understand my MBZ would do this. Since you have a 560 it is open on both ends. I made the mistake of cutting mine . So I make a aluminum tube and and flattened one end to close it.
Really great video!! Need some help - low idle, around 500 rpm and have been trying to get it up to 700 in gear, with AC on. 1. My ebay ICV has a screw in the threaded brass sleeve but it doesn’t see to do anything - should it? 2. It takes 1.3amps to close the valve. It seems that I should have a higher idle with that. 3. The bypass tube from the inlet to outlet rubber caps had an end capped off. Will it idle faster with that replaced with an actual tube, hole all the way through it?? 4. I tried moving the brass insert from flush with aluminum housing but even with a small hammer onto a screw threaded into the insert it didn’t seem to want to move. Is the screw banged on the table the best way?

Looks to me like we need 4v at 1amp fully closed. P=IE = 1x4 = 4watts of power to energize the coil in order to close the flap. Or measure the resistance of the coil and ignore voltage and just deal with the current ... R=E/I = 4 ohms. P=I*I*R = 1*1*4 = 4watts

I have read that it should be 12v with engine off and ignition on . Correct ?
Depends on model / engine / my
The control is PWM so current is relevant, not voltage
Maximum current control unit can supply is 1000 mA

What size us the screw used to pull on the idle control valve?
Right this moment, I can’t remember. It’s metric. I believe I stated the screw thread in one of the other videos I made about adjusting the valve
The adjustment repaired the idling issue. Thank you for creating this video

How do you adjust the idle control valve on a 500 … why aren’t they the same ..??
Because of the Warm Up Regulator and the frequency valve
I have a 1992 300sl, is there a way to ajust my icv?
I am not sure. I have to get a hold of one of those ICV’s and take a look at it. Is yours a R107 or already a R129?
You ned to mayntent the voltage on konstant level to get this correkt. 12v ore maybe higer, 14 v.
The ISCU puts out a PWM and it is current control
