    Good job but it is not EGR, it is secondary air valve that passes clean air to the exhaust manifold (before catalyst to improve catalytic reaction when the engine is cold)

  • @a.f.1587

    These valves are held together with small screws, if you take them apart, you can clean them much more effectively.

    The M272 engine is not equipped with an EGR system. What you just removed are the air injection valves for the bank 1 and 2. If you notice, they connect to the pump right in the middle/top of the engine. Lots of times generic P-codes will give you incorrect description of the codes.

      Yeah I had the same P0407 and no engine light, the video did reduce the rough idle a lot but I think I did not leave the EGR soaking in the cleaner long enough. I might do it again and leave the EGR in the soaking for a few hours this time and clean the throttle body too . The cleaner fluid was carbonator cleaner like this one amzn.to/3c1bI9N or any other brand works. The fluid inside the hose was silicon spray, its not necessary but it made it easier to slide on like this one amzn.to/3slto61.

    I have a 2006 E350 and the idle is very ruff it feels like when it has a bad coil pack, also check engine light is on, codes p300, 301, 302, 303, I replaced the spark plugs camshaft sensors cam adjuster magnets, crankshaft sensor, check the 305 degree with the stamp alignment all good, swap coil packs (no change) the acceleration is poor, the secondary air pump sounds like a jet engine when comes on. could the air valve failed?? any thought what could be the issue???

    • @ZakiGarage
      @ZakiGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      One clue you have is all the misfires are on bank 1 (Cylinders 1, 2, 3). So, I would guess the issue is with a component that controls all of bank 1 separately than bank 2 and not at an individual cylinder level issue. One relatively easy thing to check is to see if the air shutoff valve on bank one is working by apply vacuum to it and see if it opens and closes. Another is checking all the vacuum lines controlling the air shutoff valves, I've only replaced one of them in the video but had to replace the rest later on. There are many other stuff to check for such an issue (O2 sensors, intake manifold, blocked catalytic converter just to name a few)

    • @christiananderson1161

    Hello. I have a slight rough idle on my 2011 C300. I've replaced Secondary valves, secondary pump, new spark plugs and Ignition Coils, engine and transmission mounts and still have the rough idle in park and stop light. It goes away when I put in neutral. Any advice? Vacuum hoses look good. I also replaced 4 o2 sensors. I'm lost! ThNks

    • @ZakiGarage
      @ZakiGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh my, you've changed a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a proper way of diagnosing this issue other than replacing parts and hopping it fixes the issue like you've been doing (plus, i'm not an expert). With that said, I would first make sure the throttle body is clean and try putting on a new MAF sensor, I've had bad MAFs cause rough idle in the past. If these don't fix it, I'll start looking at the intake manifold and injectors.

    • @ZakiGarage
      @ZakiGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Good question and I'm really not sure. I'm seeing conflicting info out there:
      -There is a doc online that says the M272 doesn't have an EGR valve.
      -MB repair manual refers to the part as Air Shutoff Valve.
      -The OBD code was for a fault in the EGR.
      -A MB mechanic told me that the part I took off is the EGR valve.
      In my opinion it seems to be taking air from the exhaust and controls how much of it goes back to the intake through a valve, so it acts like an EGR it must be an EGR?? I could be wrong 🤷‍♂️.
      But to answer your question, the MB mechanic told me there are only these 2 EGR valves and the repair manual only shows these 2 Air Shutoff Valves for this engine.

    • @xabizar
      @xabizar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ZakiGarage could it be that it does the opposite? Take air from the intake to the exhaust? I thinl that's why there is that pump, although I don't know why taking fresh air to the exhaust can be usefull (I think I heard something about the O2 sensors but not sure if it's related)

    • @ZakiGarage

    • @a.f.1587
      @a.f.1587 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ZakiGarage i don't think that's an EGR. Those valves are for the second air injection. Basically they are one way valves, when you start the engine, the secondary air pump switches on, to help with the emissions until the engine warms up a bit. These valves let the air in. And obviously they are in pair since this is a V6 so it has 2 banks.
