Leak could be from power steering lines rusting or high pressure engine oil lines. Take a look by the area where water pump and see if it's wet.

So I just ordered the Amsoil ATF signature series since it cover all WS and III , I have us Amsoil for my Lexus trans and diff and also on my Sienna but now I have to replace the Sienna rack and pinion and was looking for the correct fluid .. thanks

Couldnt you do this... Pump out reservoir -> fill with new fluid -> turn tires a few times -> pump out reservoir again -> new fluid to get a cleaner fluid?

Great videos Sir! I'm not sure this was explained clearly. Do you take out only a few oz of fluid each drive and replace with fresh oil? or just keep taking out without adding? Because adding would mean contaminating good clean oil. Thank you for sharing all these great ideas. I need to replace my hi P hose, so I guess I can run engine when tune is open and get all fluids out?
Remove few oz and add fresh fluid. Running engine is going to damage the pump and not all fluid is good come out. You still have fluid in rack.
I am thinking to do same thing but as you said do it like 5 or 6 times to clean all way and i want to do Amsoil ATF.. but as many times i do ATF will cost a lot of money? Can i use other cheap ATF to clean it? Than at the end i put Amsoil ATF???
It takes only 1 bottle of Amsoil ATF to have clean fluid. Cost is less than other brands because of the wholesale price. Stay away from from other brands.
I have GX460 and manual say it takes 1quart of ATF fluid so for example if i do 5 times i need 5 quart and Amsoil be like $60 and valvoline is $16 a gallon..but if i do only one time than Amsoil be great but i don’t think one time flush will clean it good..thats why i was thinking other way around and finish with Amsoil...
@@munibialishah , for your GX you will need only 1 quart for power steering system. I have done it on my Toyota Sequoia Platinum and only 1 quart needed.

Leaks could be from pump, more likely not unless you are in northern states. Leaks could be from hoses or power steering rack itself.

If you have winning noise coming from power steering pump or when turn steering wheel then you have a problem. Small amount of bubbles is okay because you have return line that sending fluid back to the tank.

@@repairvehicle I mean after the usage there are some leftovers of the fluids. And they might be different fluids. I assume that it is kinda complicated to clean the pump and hose completely clean. So I thought that you maybe could provide some tips for that :)
No need to clean if you are using compatible fluid
Repeat draining and filling until you no longer see anything. Turning the wheel side to side will help get the rest out while you replace it.

Your battery has nothing to do with it. Electric motor wears out and starts failing. Any error codes. I am not aware of parts available to repair, usually what I have seen the entire rack and pinion gets replaced.

Actually I did a quick search and there are electric motor available as replacement either used or brand new. Used can be purchased from $90-$300 depending on mileage and year. New $800-$1200, not including installing cost.

It will not hurt the without engine running, by doing this you will not be able to exchange old fluid with new.

@@repairvehicle In your video, you are using OE Transmission fluid. I mistakenly thought the power steering fluid should have the Toyota WS rating also. Both of the fluids that the Amsoil site suggest, don't have that rating.

Hi, I uploaded a video on my channel to get help from the community on what's wrong with my 2008 LEXUS ES 350.
The steering wheel,does a strange whining noise when I start it up in the morning or after I let it sit for more than an hour or so.
Could you please check the video, it's only 25 seconds.
I hope I don't have to change the rack and pinion and just the steering wheel fluid as one viewer stated on the comments section.
How much should I pay for fluid change at an independent mechanic

Changing fluid is not going to help. Pump needs replaced.

I been using transmission fluid in my power steering pumps for a long time, and I haven't had to replace any.
Does not mean you don’t have any damage
this method will not work, new and old fluid will mixed..
Worked for me and others. Old and new fluid always mixed unless you take it apart and clean everything.
