  • Diagnosing and Fixing a Golf Cart that Will Not Run.
    In this video I will walk you through the step by step process I took to diagnose and and repair this Yamaha Gas Golf Cart.
    It had more problems than the owner was aware of. You will walk through the process I took to figure out what was wrong with it and the steps I took to get it running.
    I will also show you how to get your golf cart ready for a new season and walk you through some of the maintenance I did to accomplish that.
    I hope you find this video helpful.

    I'm so glad I found you!!!! I have the exact cart and it's been to the shop 6 times and quits 10 minutes after we get it home. I'm going to operate on it myself and do all the things you did before I carry it back to a shop. I did not know to oil places.....I bet that's it! I'm so excited now. LOL.

    nice video... just wanted to add that the opening you covered before pressure washing is the "exhaust" for the forced air to cool the engine. The air is pushed through from the passenger side, around the cylinder then out that opening. The airbox inlet (shown at 6:17) is on the side next to the ignition switch

    This was great. Looks like it’s not too difficult to fix these, I have the confidence to try now.

    Thanks for you video. I have a Yamaha G1 cart. On the positive terminal one of the positive wire broke and was hanging. I can’t seem to find where it goes. It won’t start for me. Would anyone know where it might go? Thanks in advance.

    I have a G9 that runs okay, but lately I noticed after using it for 18 holes of golf it will all of a sudden not go. The engine runs but cart wont move. After opening up seat and letting it cool off for 5 mins it than runs again no problems. Any guess why this would be? Could it by chance be a failing starter or do you have any guesses?

    Sorry for a late question. What size of battery would you recommend for the G1 (looks like a G1)? (If it is in fact a G1 I have one that I am slowly working on.)

      Unless you plan to run a lot of accessories on your golf cart... most any 12 volt automotive battery will work. Make sure it has the posts you need or want and that it will fit in the space. Then I usually buy the cheapest battery I can find with the most CCA.

    Do you have any videos on how to take off the carburetor and clean it for this type of golfcart? My grandpa has a g2-a Yamaha and I have been trying to figure out why it doesn't run. The local shop screwed him and did nothing to it, it wouldn't run when we got it back home. I can work on cars, golf carts are new for me. It was putting a lot at first, then now it wont even run. New battery/terminals, new spark plug, new fuel filter, air filter is clean. Its very old and wires have been through it but I am having a hard time find decent videos like this on repairs.

      Here are a couple videos where I worked on the carburetors. The first one is a 2 cycle G1 and I didn't remove the main jet... the second one is a G2 is a 4 cycle where I did remove the main jet but did not remove the float and needle.
      Long story short... between the 2 you should have a pretty clear picture on how to take care of your Grandpa's carburetor.

    What cause the golf cart engine to overflow with oil

    • @helpinguonline
      @helpinguonline  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a 4 cycle engine, like the one in this video, the only way you could have too much oil in the crank case is if someone put too much in there. On the other hand you can get a high level of fluid in your crank case (reading too high on your dip stick) if you are getting gas leaking into the crank case. If that is the case you should be able to smell gas on the dip stick.
      Either way... if your dip stick is showing that you have too much fluid in the crank case... you need to fix that before you drive it. Too much fluid in your crank case can ruin your engine and create extra pressure on seals and gaskets in the engine. And if it is gas getting into the crank case that will dilute the oil and your engine will not be properly lubricated causing damage.
      Not a good sign and should be looked at before using.

    What about if cart has loss of power, needs rings?

    • @helpinguonline
      @helpinguonline  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be something real simple...ie. lack of fuel, too much fuel, lack of air...etc. I would start with the easiest possible issues first and work your way to the bigger possibilities like rings. If you get to that you would want to do a compression test.
      Let us know what you find out.

      check compression... rebuild kits are cheap! just did mine
