I am 6'3" and 37 years old. I'm trying to dunk again, used to be able to fly. Age sucks, I can't train as hard as I want to without my left knee and ankle hurting. Glad to see your intense dedication, it's inspiring to stay after it
I'm in my mid 30's 5'11" and have a bad knee myself. I've dealt with it by strengthening my leg muscles mainly by running daily and light dumbbell workouts. I've lost 30 lbs over the Summer dropping from 200 lbs doing my workouts. Honestly I don't even notice any pain anymore unless its from overuse. It still crunches when I bend it but it doesn't cause me much grief anymore. In my opinion the best thing you can do to help your knee joints is to lighten their load and get into the lower end of your the normal BMI for your height. Being that you are so tall you will hide any extra weight well but not from your knee joints. Some more recommendations would be investing in a Petalla band for excessive knee pain after workouts and fish oil and glucosamine supplements. You might be aging but you aren't old yet and I'm confident that you can still get a few more dunks in if you dedicate yourself to the task. But you'll have to work at it harder than you ever did before but you can make it happen.
@@dutt6706 it’s different for everybody not everyone can recover as fast or put inches on their vert as quick but you can’t give up no matter how slow the progress is just listen to your body and keep going
That's awesome bro. I'm 6'1 and 39 years old, never dunked in my life but now I have a court with 10ft rim in my complex, I know I can do it, just gotta train for it, you inspired us, ty man
How long was this progression bro? I really rocks with that dedication. I remember how hard it was for me getting up there. Nice to see that type of commitment
I’m 5’11 with short arms, back when I was in high school (1992-1995🤣) I used to work out to dunk, we didn’t have TH-cam or many programs, I know the feeling of the journey and it’s amazing.. now Im 45, back problems but just seen the dunks take me back. Great work!!!
When he arranged pillows and jumped over them, I was like this is what we call creativity + dedication. Keep it up my man! I'm training hard for my first dunk too
Mean windmill at 3:50 in and your 2 handed dunks are your most powerful right now and their pretty steezy bro bro.. you on your way up.. literally haha
Have a bball training session in an hr and watching this just got me pumped. Gonna try to land a windmill dunk after training. Sick progress on your dunks bro - this shit is inspiring.
Hey man, you probably will never see this comment but I want you to know that I’m 5’11 and I can barely touch the rim. I didn’t really have the passion of wanting to dunk but after seeing this I now have hope. Thank you for making this video. I will come back and comment once I can dunk no matter how long it takes.
Man I wish my journey gets to be as productive as yours was I have went from scraping the rubber bottom part of the backboard to touching the orange square below the rim it took from January 2022-september 2022 I still haven't gotten my first dunk
Just subscribed , im 182cm and quite stocky at 83kg , i cant even get close , it’s difficult, how you pulled it off is stunning , well done bro , i think i need to lose some weight tho , im too heavy , what do you weigh ?
I say, this video gave me inspiration for dunking. I’m 13 and 5’6 I am planning to hopefully dunk by the end of summer but can barely touch the net, thus means I shall go into an intense amount of training which I used to do until a setback. I’m going to get back on track!
Nice Tom, some really good throw downs there. You still dunking? I'm 26 y/o 6 ft, 98kg. I recently started playing social basketball again since high school, I think I'll start training my legs to get some slams in too.
Hey fam, you inspired me to train much harder for my first dunk. I am 181cm with little bounce, you certainly fueled the fire in me. May I ask about your workout routine? I want to increase my vertical. Keep up the good work, I would love to see you succeed!
I am working with personal online coaching at thpstrength.com so I can't disclose my actual routine day to day. But what I can tell you is if you are new to jumping, definitely get your jump reps in as well as getting stronger in the main movements e.g. squats.
