Will someone PLEASE put the scenes back into the movie! I'd pay to watch a new cut of this film.

I have the DVD and had forgotten all about this scene. Just the addition of this scene alone would have made a substantial addition to the movie and to Shinzon's character in terms of his overall motives and believability. That was always my main issue with Nemesis; why should we really care about Shinzon? It's not that scary or even terribly compelling that he's a clone who is arrogant and ruthless. Yes, he has a hulking ship that's strong, but it can be swarmed. Yes, thalaron is a cool weapon, but it's localized to a ship with a generator that can be stopped. Picard was already Locutus and already had beaten a far stronger, tougher opponent in the Borg. What would have made Shinzon work is the backstory and reasons why we should care.

This is actually a great scene for developing Shinzons character. Hes not a simple one-dimensional villain with moments like this.

Kind of one my problems with Nemesis. The Romulans had just fought this hard and long campaign with the Federation against the Dominion which almost saw the complete fall of the Alpha Quadrant itself and now they were ready to battle the Federation as if none of that happened. The Romulans should have been seen as more of an ally after that or at the very least perhaps a Cold War situation would have arisen as per the Americans and Soviets after WW2. Just my opinion....

Sloan (section 31) was right at the beginning of the episode "inter arma enim silent leges," after the dominion war the following will happen in short order, the Cardassian Union will be occupied, the Klingons will spend the next 10 years rebuilding and wont pose a threat to anyone, that leaves the Federation and the Romulans to duke out power over the quadrant. Section 31 saw something like this happening, and they were right, so they put their operative higher into power on Romulus.

The Romulans were brought into the war without losing as much as the other allies- yet their leadership was pragmatic enough to avoid more war and more destabilization.

its like the WW2 example. the US and the Soviet Union were polar opposites that would rather silently hate each other then work together, but they had a common enemy so they worked together. after the war everything returns to the two hating each other and wanting to b left alone. its the same with the federation and romulans from a conceptual standpoint

I still see no reason why Shinzon would hold any grudge against the Federation. It were the Romulans who threw in that hell hole, where he found his 'Reman Brothers'. I see no connection between that what happened in the past and his current ideas to conquest the Federation. Why the Federation? Why not the Klingons? The Klingons were always there main enemy. But how naive Shinzon was to think that only 1 ship, the Scimitar, could destroy the Federation. If the Federation was even able to stop a Borg Cube, a ship many times the size of the Scimitar, and if you see how long it takes for the Scimitar to load the thalaron emitters the ship would already have been destroyed by hundreds, if not thousands of Federation ships. And the Klingons are still allies of the Federation as well, and we do know how the Klingons loath the Romulans.

Because he saw his pain and birth came solely from Picard. If it weren’t for the Federation is pain on Remus would not exist. Also, he has usurped the Romulan empire, he sees the Federation as a threat.
As you see by his denial of war birds he is Reman. The Romulans are meant to be subservient now.
As he is the Shinzon, he’s kind of like Paul from Dune. He’s a messiah to the Remans who know want to conquer like a Jihad.

    • @craithteemeghan5311
      @craithteemeghan5311 ปีที่แล้ว

Shinzon could have destroyed Earth with the Thalaron emitter within the time it took for a ship to reach the Scimitar once it had de cloaked near Earth, it was powerful enough to destroy a Planet. It was designed for the purpose of destroying Earth. Shinzon was apparently a violent psychotic evil version of Jean Luc Picard, his motives seem influenced by a desire for "war and conquest". I wonder what other Starfleet Captain's clones survived as a result of the previous Romulan's governments spy cloning initiative!

Because Shinzon was made by the Romulan's to fight and destroy the Federation by essentially being a clone of Picard. You're going to include all the indoctrination necessary for that. This is in the movie, it's just not directly said about it. It is inferred.

While I've learned to appreciate this movie more, I still find it dumb that Shinzon's targeting the Federation with all his anger. It was the Romulans who mistreated him all his life, the Romulans who oppressed the Remans, and the Romulans who are still seeing him and the Remans as less than. Like, I get being envious of Picard and wanting to kill him to keep himself from dying, but the Federation weren't responsible for anything done under the Romulan Star Empire.
I feel like what would've made sense would be if the plan was to destroy the Federation to gain political favor, granting him more power which he could then use to subjugate the Romulans. Something that would eventually be found out, which would've gotten the Romulans to ally themselves with the Enterprise to take Shinzon out.

While this was a great scene. It was deleted for one simple reason: It hindered the flow of the film. Too many plot points were revealed. And most of the information we get in this scene is already sprinkled throughout the film. I think the director made the right choice. He preserved the mystique of the Remans. The Audience only knew what Picard knew when he beamed on the Scimitar. The reveal of Shinzon and the Remans was powerful because we had no prior knowledge on who they were. This scene would have shattered that mystery and exploration of the unknown.

A fitting end to the TNG . Picard series must give way to Voyager under Janeway .

It gives the whole game away with Shinzon's plans though. With this removed, the audience is no wiser than the Enterprise Crew as to what Shinzons intentions are, and when he talks of peace, you don't immediately know he is lying. Had this scene still been in the movie, you definitely would.

The user interface on this DVD is horrible looking! It looks like a first year art student put it together. Also, I always found Shinzon to not really look like Picard... at all! OK, he's supposed to be younger, but other than being bald (which we no Picard wasn't always (according to at least one TNG episode), he doesn't resemble him.
