K-pop labels are the master at pre-release YT promos. A typical release is preceded by two to four 15-second snippets from the upcoming video, an infographic static image video which lists song and production credits with yet more music snippets. Sometimes each individual member of the group (there may be from four to twelve members) will also get an artist profile mini-video. Plus artists have their own YT channels separate from the label's channel, so you have the opportunity to see all this stuff more than once. And that's only YT. They also bomb IG and FB with links to those same videos, plus additional promo content specific to each platform. When the music/video itself is released it's quickly accompanied by a dance rehearsal version, a fan chant version, a live performance from a South Korean TV show, a "behind the scenes making of the video" version, and finally dozens and dozens of fan-made videos highlighting the vocalist for each individual line of the song, reaction videos, etc. It's really overwhelming, but effective.

I’ve done TONS on sooty watch my guide on the channel page. Instagram changes so often making a video on it would be useless since by the time anyone used it it will change again. It’s sadly in panic

Lots of really neat ideas here, very practical and it's helpful to see how you would implement these ideas on a day to day basis. I tried to follow your original plan you posted at the start of the year but it didn't work for me. After the first couple of releases I couldn't be consistent as work and study had to take priority. I also think that my music is a) pretty average and/or b) not emotionally resonating with many people beyond myself and/or c) very niche. This is useful information because it means I can stop feeling pressured to turn music into a financially profitable side gig and go back to enjoying it as a creative release and hobby. It's still fascinating to learn about DIY marketing approaches though, you never know when they might come in handy for other things.

Hi Jesse, and thanks a lot for your great work! I really believe your content is the best you can find for DIY music promotion as the others don't really have a practical or deep point of view. Since I'm studying your video(s) in depth I need a small clarification about the last 2 weeks: would an unofficial video work or, having one, it would be better to release it BEFORE the official video? Thus leaving the official video for the last and most important piece of content. Thanks in advance!
I actually think the alternate versions are a good reminder of the music video and often algorithms play the other version after helping promote it

Hey Jesse, love the channel! I first found you through your URM fast track & came across your channel afterwards. I’ve been following your videos & think they’re incredibly valuable.
I have one question- would you suggest posting all 60 days worth of content 4x/day?
I followed this video for my last release but wasn’t sure if I should post in every form. I ended up posting FB Post & Story, IG Post & Story, Band Tweet & RT from personal. I was posting/sharing something every few hours & was a little insecure if I was over sharing.
I’d love to hear your thoughts if you have time!

I'm aware that you don't like Facebook/IG ads but they kind of make it that you have to pay if you want to reach more people. Thanks again!
Well Facebook does that but not Instagram? I can get behind the occasional boosted FB post for people who market to an older audience but your out reach efforts and community efforts should help this spread

I think TikTok is less about specific days and doing what you can as creative ideas happen. I cover this in the playlist on TikTok

Would you recommend sending your music out to press when you release your song, or only after when it got some momentum already, when it's out with the lyric/music video for example?
What exactly do you mean by "dropping your lyric video in the playlist of your Spotify discography" - isn't Spotify just about streams?
When the music video drops you say to take out the lyric video and single screen video. Do you recommend putting them on "private" or "unlisted" or just putting them out of the playlist or even delete them?

Is there any chance that you might update this for "modern day"? That sounds absurd, but instagram kinda nuked their algorithm and now posts and photos have almost no engagement and it's pretty much all about reels.
Ehhh that’s not really true. TikTok is different and I’m gonna update this. But honestly Instagram didn’t nuke their algorithim it’s just changed. Some people get nothing out of reels and a ton out of grid it’s all more variable depensabt

Is it neccesary to use paid promotion methods along with regular posting? Let's say i have a campaign on my lyric video, and when time comes, i start a campaign on a music video.

Do you mean that we put the link to the youtube video of our lyric video on the playlist's description, and then share the playlist instead of sharing the link that leads directly to the video?

Thanks for this sound advice really useful. can I check something. I released on Spotify a dance song as a single and then an acoustic version two weeks later. I was able to pitch both for playlists for each but you mentioned Spotify doesn't allow. were my songs allowed because they were different genres?
If you give the full consideration time aka 30 days you can only pitch one song at a time

Jesse! I don't have an audience yet but I have 13 songs. What do you think about releasing basic acoustic versions of each song all at once to get an audience, and then release produced masters on the promo plan? Or does releasing the acoustic versions get the cat out of the bag too soon?

Will releasing on your recommended days impact getting on Release Radar and other Spotify playlists? Our artist biggest success came from releasing on Friday by getting on Release Radar and an editorial playlist.
Spotify themselves says it right in the Spotify for artists that it doesn’t matter. You got on it not by releasing on Friday but because of their consideration

Scroll through the channel I have a really popular video on making lyric videos. TH-cam is one of the most popular discovery platforms and trying to just post numbers I’d a MySpace era mindset if you have a song that’s highly susceptible than people will listen cross platforms
