    Thank you for this. Basically what I got from this is yes...you want to have parameters and your audience in mind...but also think outside of the box. What works for you won't be what works for someone else. Being your authentic weirdo self is more likeable than just doing what everyone else is doing. Being different in honest way is what stands out. I think is video is going to be validation for people to be more creative with their content.

    Most TH-camrs who talk about building a social media platinum just throw out juicy titles as bait and then circle around a whole lot of nothing when you click their videos. Their real goal is simply to get you to invest in their services. I was thrilled with Musformation after the first 7 minutes because Jesse Cannon is actually shareable practical tips that ring that aha! bell. I'm going to be ordering his books from Amazon today. Nice one, Jesse. I was wondering since long time how could the big guys make always good content and now I have some tools (while you have my thankings, likes and sub). There is still something I don't understand about social media and here it is.
    A big artist take a cheap crappy photo of him/her in the toilet while doing absolutely nothing, post it on Instagram and gets thousands of likes and comments. The same artist post good content (for ex. video where he/she is sound designing, saying something meaningful, etc...) and gets the same amount of likes and comments. Does this mean that at a certain level whatever we post is gonna make great? (and therefore that at that point no strategy is required?)

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes we have to always recognize that there’s a huge difference in strategy on the way to 10,000 fans and after that and that’s why this channel makes that distinction

    • @saviwaves5337
      @saviwaves5337 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Musformation i’ve been thinking of using it to write music videos but i realized a good music video would depend on the song, BUT the song depends on the writing ability of the artist and as i’ve learned with TV, it’s easier to flesh out characters and allow them to act according to their personality and throw a wrench in their environment than to try and create something over the top without a goal. take modern budget rap videos. they’re performance shots, b roll with money, girls, cars, etc, rinse and repeat. they have no story so that’s grossly overcompensated with fast transitions and cheap vfx.

    • @saviwaves5337
      @saviwaves5337 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      then you have artists like NF that don’t need too much as far as visuals because his identity and story telling carry his appeal. actually, his story telling dictates the themes of his music videos. in contrast you have too many others doing the same thing over and trying to let a catchy melody carry their appeal. but then someone similar and more new comes along and those artists get replaced because they didn’t establish their identity.

      1. Statistically 1 year in my sub count is far above average 2. Making videos on nerdy subjects of music marketing strategy isn’t exactly the clickable gold a catchy song is, if you watch my video on my bio it’s pretty clear I’ve proven myself publicly to have build up a lot of bands. If you want to ignore it cause you think that I don’t have enough subs that’s on you dawg.

    I don’t really agree with the Cardi B and Nicki analogy. Not even a fan of them both but the example seems to fall flat in terms of creativity. They both did what they could in their time in that moment. Remember when Nicki used to have that weird quirky persona? Just my opinion as I’m sure you already know.

      No it was creative Nicki was the only female artist like that in music history. Sadly when you have been in the game a while people want someone younger, and that's when Cardi came in. Now pretty much all female rappers are tryna act like Nicki.

      @@encouraginglyauthentic43 good point. Everyone always wants younger. It’s how it goes and that’s the problem, everyone wants to be someone else instead of being themselves. Nicki only lasted this long bc it took a while for another artist to become e mainstream

    So imitate others this is why I canceled my Facebook because of copy cats. selling CDs on the street will make you more money than any streeming platform. I bet I know what your music sounds like without even listening as you scroll threw other artist content looking for ideas onmg that's not creativity .in thirty minutes this has turnd me off it's cold and faceless it's not music but it's is the reason music sucks no one is experamenting it's all the same .
    Huge turnoff man do not copy other pepole ideas you are going to have a hard enough time trying to be an individual if you copy everyone else you will never be your own person
