    This is probably my favorite video you've put out now. There's so many good chunks of wisdom throughout this thing! My main problem right now has been trying to get people from my Instagram to listen to my music, and it makes sense that that's tough to do until you really start getting that 10k+ following. From this video I think I've gathered that I really need to be focusing on gaining my audience and giving them the best experience of who I am through my Instagram with engagement, stories, etc. Super inspiring to see that it is totally possible to have social media be a platform for people to see my music, you just have to grind for a little bit in order to get to that point.

    I am in love with your sincerity and the info you're putting out here. One thing I'm noticing throughout is that while almost all things can apply to all types of artists, some things don't apply to instrumental artists or producers - like a lyric video. Do you have any suggestions for something in lieu of a lyric video in that case? Still going through the full playlist, so maybe you get to something like that later. Thanks again for all the work you put in here.

    Great video as always, thanks a lot! Regarding the types on social media. One great example is Santos, drummer of a supergroup Old Man Gloom. This guy is super funny talking bands life with all its ups and downs. His latest imaginary tour diary is just a bomb. Hope you won't consider this as an ad)). Also, Jesse, what do you think about payed targeting in Facebook / TH-cam, does it work for starting out acts?

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll have to check him out. I find those paid targets to be very ineffective at this level. But for some people anyone hearing them for $200 they find effective but I think there’s so many people promising miracles and it’s just lies

I was listening to this earlier as I go through the playlist, and I just had one of the moments where I thought about what you said about the political type and how it doesn't matter and I just laughed my ass off out of nowhere. • @PoopieLukie
    @PoopieLukie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey man! I've been checking out your videos all afternoon and stumbled across this one. I'm wondering why you can't just link a single for listeners and if you do the playlist, how that would allow fans to actually listen? I'm thinking you're suggesting an artist playlist but those still shuffle once they're played if I remember right. Thanks!

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you link a playlist it plays the playlist? I’m not sure what you’re saying

    • @PoopieLukie
      @PoopieLukie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Musformation yeah I get that lol, sorry for the bad wording.
      You had said never link to a song directly even using the services like link tree but instead use a playlist.
      If the goal is for a listener to hear the new song why link a playlist instead of the new song? Is the advantage that they can hear other music you've curated into a playlist at the same time? Or is this for those who don't have spotify premium (they can't play singles and I've been told it sends those listeners to a playlist), or am I someone who just doesn't pay attention? Also if you've covered this in another vid I just haven't seen my b. Hopefully this explains my question better. Thanks again.

    just a question for a next video:
    i have a string of singles i plan on releasing with paid social media promotion. Just wondering what you think a good amount is to have set aside to put behind each single. I figure with each following release i can narrow down my audience further and further, but im unsure what amount I should start at, and aim to finish at.

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally how many monthly listens do you have on Spotify?

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s great engagement at that level and a good sign ads may be effective. I think that strategy may work? You’ll have to report back to me. But I’ll say this and it’s not to say it won’t be worth it to you at that level I find advertising really is money burned compared to making better videos or investing in doing higher quality things and putting the time into building your community (if you haven’t watched that video let me know) I find that the less followers you have already the less people feel it’s worthy of a click of the play button with ads so it’s less effective. But with that said if you want to do this everyone has different level of money to throw around so I think it really comes down to how you feel about that

    Jesse, I got a burning question! In this video, you say that we need to post storytelling/promotional content about our music only 30% of the time but in your "60 day release plan" video you say we should make a small post to remind people about our single every day. I'm confused, which one should we do?

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The story is 30% but call backs and iterations / links to that story are a good deal and I think explained pretty thoroughly in the 60 day plan.
