Great video, A lot of ideas very worthwhile. As someone who has just released my first solo single June 28 after being in many bands for years this was super helpful. I have that eternal inner battle im sure many others have, with posting and promoting myself and my music tastefully while remaining consistent and visible enough to be effective without bothering people haha.. The only issue w trying to promote your song on tt using existing trends is that most of them are based on a sound. So you can't really hop on a trend and then get your song earworm in too

ive been binging your content lately getting ready to start releasing an album as singles with all the songs having a music video in a few months. trying my best to follow all your advices. 13 six week cycles. quick question, how necessary is a facebook artist page in 2023?
If your audience is under 35 it should be your lowest priority

I have a question about covers. Where would they fit in with this strategy, and how long could I promote one for before it gets old? My guess is one cover per week, but I’d like to hear your thoughts.
I ask because while I am working on getting more music out, it’s more time consuming when it’s original vs a song that’s already been written; and I just don’t have the resources to get music videos done as fast as I would like (I have to do it all myself cause I’m a broke bih)

I think this is brilliant and probably works super well but it is also stressing me out hardcore and kinda makes my soul hurt a bit. I just want to write, record and perform music, not make a ton of throw away content. Is this the only way to be a professional musician in the modern era?
In every era of music what you had to do to promote was hated by musicians. Radiohead made a whole movie about how much they hated doing the same interview with different radio stations all day. It’s always sucked but if you want it you gotta do the shitty part too

Following this for my latest release. Just had a few questions. I know you've talked about using niche Tiktok hashtags to depict who your content is going to push to first, but do TH-cam and Instagram work the same way? You've mentioned before that the algorithms are different, but just wondering in which ways? Should I be using the same hashtags for all 3? Thanks.
Try that but we need to adapt as we observe. I like to look at who is posting in that hashtag on each platform by clicking it and check and make sure it’s really your audience

Interesting video! It seems this way of promotion is through short, daily bursts of content. What are your thoughts on promoting through a higher quality but lower quantity amount? i.e. dropping a single and then a longer form youtube video a few weeks later telling a story/showcasing your personality, and then repeating that process?? (I guess the closest example I can think of this is a band/youtube channel I got into last year called Mandelbro)
I guess to me if someone posts every few weeks it becomes an event and I am more incentivised to watch it, as apposed to something daily where after a certain point it becomes a lot harder to "miss them." Would love to know your thoughts, thanks!! :)

Man great video! but my question, how do you decide whether one should release singles or release an EP? I've got 5 tracks ready to launch. 3 out of the 5 are single material. pulling my hair out trying to decide whether to put it all under1 EP under the main single's name or to drag them out as singles. If it was all under one EP i would definietly use the waterfall method, and maybe the last 2 would release together to complete the EP, but the other way also feels just as effective. which to decide?

dont many artists post a bunch of in-the-studio/live song previews pre-release? i see a lot of indie musicians on tiktok doing “singing the hook” type videos (like in the car) over and over, all before the song is even released.
do you consider this kind of song teasing an effective strategy?
As I’ve stated many times just cause a big artist does it doesn’t mean it’s contemplated. It can help with big artists because they are trying to get everyone who knows them already to pay attention again. But you who is trying to convert them and then doesn’t deliver anything fails them and fails yourself by not giving them the song to grow a relationship with
