    Dude. You have no idea the amount of time I wasted trying to watch other videos. You’re the only one that shows the bolts once removed !!! You’ve completely saved me on the reinstall. It’s crazy how ppl think one can remember where things go back, and just glance over the reinstall. Like just do it in reverse ?!?! Yeah ok. It took me three days to go forward

I've spent (wasted or learned!) 4 hours trying to drop the cradle more and contemplated taking out motor mounts to twist the rack neck to get out that hole AND NOW FIND OUT THE PLATE INSIDE THE DRIVERS FOOT BOX can be removed! Thank you once again this is easy peasy now and thank you too for the torque specs! Wow.....

    This is an awesome video, probably the most detailed one on youtube for this specific rack and pinion. This is not an easy job. My rack is not leaking but I feel vibrations and shimmy in steering wheel on on the freeway, It lags to return to center after turning, and there's more play in the steering wheel. My car is about 15 yrs old and has the original rack and bushings. I would like to see if just replacing the bushings helps, but I'll have to do all that labor over again to replace the rack. I'm considering replacing the rack and bushings together and getting it over with. Thanks for making this video!

    Very nice video! yeah but I thought you completely skipped the details and illustration of the detaching of the subframe which I thought was the most concerning and potentially dangerous aspect of the job! Did you support the subframe, did you just partially just drop it and more so on the driverside and driverside rear mounts to free up enough space to remove the rack from the driverside? Would appreciate any additional information you could share on this matter! I'm contemplating removing my leaking rack from a 1999 accord LX 2.3L in my driveway with just three floor jacks and a hydraulic jack, feel free to tell me if this is crazy attempt? Thanks!

    Nicely done RB, I appreciate the effort it takes to capture the entire job on video. I'm sure you have other jobs to get done, so slowing it down for us is much appreciated. I do have a question relating to the sub frame connections. is there any concern about the sub frame separating from the frame, when you detach the bolts, requiring realignment or the use of other tools or adapters? You made it look too easy. Thanks again.

    Yeah, the little guy can be a very hard to slip out and install the new. That's after you take a bunch of stuff off. You new at this make sure you label where the bolts go so you don't get confused. Get a cardboard and sketch the rack and label where each bolts goes for reference. This guy probably took half a day to do all this. You never done this but are mechanical minded tell your family you wont be around for two whole days minimum. Take your time, do it right or you will have to do it again. Nobody has time for that.

When on bumpy roads ( this is Boston) it thumps - i can feel it over the steering wheel; mainly in lower speed while or manoeuvring to park. Nobody was able to precise the problem and the costs to change parts and labour was growing as some said it was the links, others told me it "could be" ( but not sure of it) the rack and pinion.I
    Ithaunts me because i've seen the same problem on a previous Accord V6 too.

    I have a 2006 Accord 2 4l coupe. New Honda pump and hoses and new Honda fluid and clean reservoir and filter. It wasn't flushed. All fluid was not in there when serviced. I drove away from the shop and I couldn't steer still. And opened hood and the fluid was being pushed out the reservoir the cap was pushed off. I filled it again and the same thing happened. I was told my r and p is bad now. It doesn't leak so why would it be bad?

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That happnes to me always when I even change only ps pump so what happnes is the pump is either sucking air or they didn’t bleed out the air from the system it’s every easy to bleed out the air u fill up the fluid run the engine turn right left right left right left it will have tiny tiny bubbles in the whole system turn 10 time right left and then just let the car run for good 20 minutes till u see fluid have settled down and ur all set so it seems like they didn’t complet the job!… anyways even after this after good 20-25 minutes of car running idle there shouldn’t be any wining noise and no bubbles if u need to run it longer let it run anyways after u know its not wining and no bubble of air in the bottle and u turn off the engine if it pushes the car off and all fluid start to bubble up then it sucking air from some where I’ll send u link of video for 2 seals u should change the always fail also check all connections

      I think they just did the repairs put the fluid in and parked it outside and once u started the car the steering would feel like it’s jerking then all fluid come out and it would get hard and bubble out
