I have high hopes for Generation 10's new region to be based around Africa (includes Egypt if anyone forgets and Madagascar), I mean who doesn't want to see Africa become part of the Pokemon world? It is another choice fans like me want to see for quite a while and I love the diversity of the wildlife from elephants to zebras, lions to giraffes, and ostriches to monkeys and lemurs; I mean there's just so much going on with the wildlife that it's got to be a must be made region for an upcoming Gen 10 main game! I personally love a lot about Africa and feel like this is a good pick, but ultimately wouldn't mind seeing any of the ones you said to be the next chosen region, including India, the rest of North America, China, Italy, South America and Russia to name a "few". I love all of the potential starters and would like to see another video of more region choices happen in the future.

Gen 1 callback lol for the 100th time I know not really but cmon there are other gens and gen 1 has gotten more than its fair share of acknowledgment I'm not entirely opposed to some gen 1 variants we've gotten some already in alola again in galar and paldea with tauros and of course convergent evolutions being another way of covering that basis I just don't want to see an Overabundance of gen 1 and not much else for other gens

Hot take: American west starters could be fire horse and grass bison as you said but then a water moose. All hooved creatures that you then ride when they get big enough. And moose hang out in rivers like they're no big deal because they're so tall and strong.

Because I have 2 reasons: 1, the media has already done a kid riding a bison in avatar, And 2 in the real world, I already have thenwater and grass starters in the form of my mother. The ugly face for the water 🫎, and the aggressive hormones for the wood 🦬. Plus the horse is my brother's asian zodiac sign, so why not.
And if they do the thing about you getting a Ride Pokemon again, they could make it be a thing you get later in the game when your Pokemon is in its second stage and would be strong enough to carry you. And you'd always have the ball on you, whether its in your battle rotation or not, and we've seen Pokemon choose to go in and out of balls as they please so it being "fainted" could just be it being too exhausted to battle, but it can still carry you, so it works from a meta standpoint as well.
Call me biased because of my ethnicity; but a region based on Latin America or specifically Mexico would be rad with starters based on a Mexican Spiny Tailed Iguana (Water), East Mexican Black Bear (Fire), and the Quetzal (Grass). Not to mention the core legendaries being based on the Golden Eagle, a Jaguar, and Quetzalcoatle. Maybe the region can feature TWO pseudo-legendary Pokemon. A Dark/Poison type based on the Chupacabra. Specifically the quadruped, spiny, dog-like verson and be a physical attacker. The second pseudo-legendary can be based on La Llorona and be a Ghost/Fairy type specializing in special attacks.
Also, it makes total sense for them to make we go from an Iberian region to a Latin America region. That's basically history. I might be biased because I'm also from Latin America (Brazil) but I really want it too. Though I'd love if they sneaked in references to El Chavo del Ocho or El Chapulin Colorado, like a regional Lokix or a witch pokémon that is number #71 on the dex, I also wanted it to be a place from the South Hemisphere. We've got 9 regions and NONE of them are from the South of the globe. I think Brazil might be too big as a single region, but I really wanted them to make a part of Brazil as a region, but please don't make it so Brazil is only represented with the Amazon forest or Rio de Janeiro. Something like the Northeast or the South of Brazil would be so cool.
I've always wanted a Mexico based region because of the environment. You got tropical beaches, desert, mountains, and jungle. A lot of different biomes to place pokemon.
The Iceland part of a Scandinavian pokémon region could be so cool...they already have so many weird legendary animals. Puffin pokémon, Yggdrasil pokémon, elves, Yule Lads, hidden folk, Skoffin (fox which can turn someone into stone if it looks at them), Gryla and Leppalaudi.
I’ve been campaigning for a region based on Chugoku and Shikoku since 2010. It’s the last major region of Japan that hasn’t been adapted yet. It’s also got potential. Like Hoenn, there’d roughly an equal amount of land and water, and there are tons of legends surrounding the body of water that separates the two parts (the Seto Inland Sea). It’s a touchy subject, but it’s also where Hiroshima is located. They could do something with that if they wanted to. Pokemon mutated by radiation would be rather tasteless, but maybe there could just be some comments about how the region was once at war with Unova and Galar, but now they’re all friends.
I would personally like a China and Hong Kong based region for Gen 10. China and Hong Kong have a great history, mythology, culture, landscape and animals for a Pokémon region.

Japan and China had a very very rough history together, and making a China region for such a notoriously japanese bestseller franchise would become too political. Love how these Regional Pokemon look, so here are some names: - Australian: Kangaroot (kangaroo = root), Heatder (heat + adder = heater), & Platypond (platypus + pond) - American West: Bisam (bison + balsam), Hotrot (horse + hot + trot & is a reference to “hot to trot”), & Beriver (beaver + river & maybe a pun on “believer”) - Netherlands: Flupus (flora + lupus), Infernox (inferno + ox & if it becomes a Dark type then “nox” means night foreshadows), & Decanaal (decapod + kanaal)

For starter names I think “Growey” for the kangaroo starter since Joey is the name for a baby kangaroo and grow which is what plants do! And for the crab starter I’m thinking Arble which is Arthropod which is the family that includes crabs, lobsters, shrimp and spiders. And bubble which crabs in media are shown blowing bubbles

As a Dutchman, For starters a cow and lion are a must. And as a 3rd starter I want to see something like a pidgeon or a Blackbird. These are one of the most common birds here.
Australia has a lot of unused animals and prehistorical mammals could easily become a fossil type or legendary. Kangaroo/wallaby , tasmanian devil and platypus would be a nice choice as starters.
I personally would like a region based on Guyana, mainly because they could tie it all back to gen 1 with the discovery of mew. Also there’s real world connections to Guyana, Britain and France, I can see it being referenced in a Pokémon game when Galar and Kalos exist. Especially Kalos with Legends ZA coming.
I'd love to see an Australian, Indonesian, Greek or an Irish region tbh, but mostly an Irish region because it is rich in history, culture, tradition and such, also has ties with three other European based region like Paldea (Iberian region), Kalos (France; St Patrick, Normans and such tied to it) and Galar (England; a lot of big history and such between the two), so yeah
Definitely want to see the Grass Bison final evolution, I can see it having horns made of wood just like Sawsbuck’s antlers and prairie grasses making up what would on a normal bison be it’s hair.
I really think they could go back to a japan based region because it’s where the series started and I think it would be cool to explore a region with a familiar feel but with all new Pokémon + regional forms and convergent evolutions! Ps. Wouldn’t it be cool if post-game connected back to kanto but from the other side so it would kind of feel like a loop between gens.
While I would love an Australian region and agree that it's the most desired, I'm a bit iffy on the starter choice. Starter Pokemon have never really paired up with a region's inspiration's most famous wildlife as far as I remember. At least not all three. Really only starting with gen 6 and Froakie did any of the starters seem to have cultural connections to their region's inspiration. Popplio and Rowlet are both based off of animals that live on Hawaii. Other than Scorbunny possibly being a super loose reference to the killer rabbit of Monty Python's "Holy Grail" none of the gen 8 starters have deep ties to the UK. And other than Fuecoco looking like a Spanish dish, none of the gen 9 starters are tied to Spanish wildlife.
Also, just to add, the fire starters have never really followed the Chinse Zodiac. It's a fun fan theory, but it takes a lot of stretching to fit. An echidna is supposed to be a rat? A fox is supposed to be the dog? And now people are claiming that Fuecoco is supposed to be the snake or are completely ignoring it? It doesn't help that the games never tried to follow the zodiac in order. Looking at the current lineup of fire type starters, there doesn't seem to be much of a pattern, especially with Fuecoco breaking up long standing patterns such as every fire type since Torchic being based on mammals and becoming bipedal. If anything, I hope the next fire type starter, or really any starter, takes on the bug typing or has clear arthropod origins just to completely shake up the starter line up.
Fire ox/ cow for a Wisconsin region. It's known for dairy products. The Great Peshtigo Fire was the same day as the Chicago Fire, and destroyed more land. (The Chicago Fire supposedly was started by Mrs. O'Leary's cow.) Because some people trying to escape the flames jumped into the river and died of hypothermia there, it gains the ice typing.
Lmao. If there's a Wisconsin region, one of the starters should be based on a cheese curd. Maybe it evolves into a cheese wheel and can use attacks like rollout, flamethrower, and rock slide.
If GF released a new pokemon game every single year forever, by the time they reached that gen all stars in the universe will have burned out and cooled down to black dwarves or other stellar remnants (black holes, neutron stars), with all orbiting bodies having collided with their parent stars due to gravitational radiation. So basically you're saying pokemon will not end until the heat death of the universe and I can get behind that :D
The western USA is too massive and diverse to be just one region, and part of it already is a region (Orre is Arizona with a little bit of nearby Mexican states). Unova isn’t the entire east coast, after all, it’s just New York City and parts of the surrounding area. You’ve got to break it down somehow, both to maintain scale (the Pokemon world isn’t 1:1 with our geography, but it’s pretty close) and to leave room for future regions. California would be a good place to start. That state has a little bit of everything: the ocean, scorching deserts, snowy mountains, and forests with trees big enough to drive a car through. It’s home to people from all over the world, and wildlife just as varied. You’d also have Orre next door for a potential post-game.

1. If we get a fire starter based on a horse, it will be a starter clone of Ponyta. Like what Fennekin is to Vulpix 2. if we get a platupus starter pokemon, lets hope it wont look like Fwack from Palworld 3. I know it's too much to ask for but what I would love to see in a future generation is one where you can pick what town you live in at the start, and that effects what your starter is. Either by being given what's around in the area, or a local gym leader supplying the choice.

While we do have a number of venomous animals here, I doubt it is the majority. Other animals may be dangerous without being venomous. But I think the stereotype of dangerous animals trying to kill Aussies all the time is a bit exaggerated 😅
Great video. I honestly had no idea Platypus can be venomous, which may be an interesting secondary type. For the beaver part, I think it could also appear in a Canadian themed region since they are an iconic animal there. I believe a tribute to Gen 1 wouldn't be a bad idea for Gen 10. Maybe some Kanto Pokémon can get new evolution. As for a Netherland region, perhaps the Box Legendary Pokémon could be based on some of the most iconic gods in Norris Mythology!
Since we already have bibarel as a water type beaver, I prefer the idea of leaning into the tree felling and dam building aspect of beavers as a grass starter. Make it into a grass/steel lumberjack with a chainsaw tail!
Honestly, I hope that gen 10 is based on one of the places that fans have been making their own regions based on for a while (the pacific northwest, for example)
I really think while we desperately want Australia to be the 10th generation, I can feel Gamefreak would make California/Washington/Nevada be a region since a majority of their fan base is in America. We got NY and Hawaii, why not California? While Mexico would work with Texas being the expansion pack, we got Spain recently covering the Latino base. I’m putting my money down on the Western USA being 10th Gen area. Wrote this right before finishing the video. So glad you agree with the Western area being a great area especially for 10th Gen. I also think Texas/Louisiana/Florida with Gulf of Mexico making a great area, but California/Washington/Nevada being a better area.
I'm hoping Gen 10 will be based in Florida,because there are so many different landscapes in Florida,and we have some very interesting landmarks. There could be areas based on Spook Hill, Miami,Key West,Orlando,etc. For Gen 10, I would also love to see a battle area where you could battle gym leaders and champions from Gens 1-9(like Pokemon World Tournament did in Black/White 2). Also,I would like to see starters based on dogs,horses and porcupines.-maybe something like a water dog,a grass horse and a fire porcupine.
Florida is like America's version of Australia. Florida itself is already kind of a pokemon region because of all different animals u could find there.
I was hoping you’d give the platypus secondary Poison typing, but we’ve already got a platypus Pokemon: Psyduck. It’s even a Gen I Pokemon. If they ever do an Australian region, I think it’s more likely Psyduck will get a regional variant (hopefully with those venomous spurs) rather than there being a new one. A tree kangaroo would be an interesting addition, but I have to imagine Kangaskhan would be in the game (probably just regular old Kangaskhan, no regional variant). I could see them doing both, though.
I think the Netherlands would make the most sense for a new Pokémon region. 1. The map at Blue Berry academy shows a part of an unknown region that looks suspiciously like either the province Zeeland or the area where Rotterdam is in real life. 2. The Pokémon x Van Gogh collaboration that took place last year. 3. The connection between the Netherlands and Japan had since at least the 17th century as the Netherlands was the only European nation that was allowed to trade with Japan for centuries before Japan opened up for the rest of the world in the late 19th century. Funnily enough I think a new Japanese based region would be the least likely since we had Kitakami in the first Gen 9 DLC.

The fire type starters are NOT based on the Chinese calendar, that is an idea that loses meaning with skeledirge and Delphox, apart from that I see the starter quite well, but not because of the Chinese calendar
Those are some great ideas for Pokémon regions and sets of starters! I am trying to come up with ideas of my own for future Pokémon games, themes, regions, regional variants, etc. However, I have no ideas for new game mechanics like Mega Evolutions from Kalos, Z-moves from Alola, the Dynamax from Galar, or the Terestal from Paldea.
I can't believe how of all these trios I'm always picking the grass starters with the fire starters being my second pick. I'm more of the thought that the gen 10/30 anniversary will/has to be a Japanese region. It might be sentimental thinking but I really think that's the way to go, or it should be the way to go. Now, of all these, I think the Netherlands based starters is the trio that looks the most solid. Because of all these water starters, for some dumb or wild reason, the crab one looks the most convincing and realistic. Excellent video with so many good designs and concepts. Yet, this is another of your videos that makes me sad because, just like your gen 9 starters inspired on Italy, I bet none of these new starters will have full evolution lines... A shame.

I think these potential candidates for Gen 10 are great. I think they make sense as likely candidates. I think these starter ideas are very well designed and I would like to see them as the Gen 10 starters. Out of these options I would like to see a new Japanese region for Gen 10. They could have the new Japanese region be based on the Tohoku region of Japan. It would be a great way for Pokémon to return to their roots.
For a Japanese region, I think sequel would be interesting. New starting town in an unexplored area of the original map. Many games have unexplored areas, for example Scarlet&Violet dlc: Kitakami has an unknown area around it. New story, villains, legendary, mystical, and some pokemon.

I would like to see a region based on The Himalayas regions like Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet etc... It could have habitats like high mountains, very tall trees (based on the Deodar Cedar), alpine meadows, snow etc.... You could have a region with mostly unique Pokémon in it like the way Gen III Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald games had mostly new Pokémon and not a lot from Gen I and II regions in the games. There are a lot of animals that you could base Pokémon on including big cats like Bengal Tiger, Pallas Cat and Snow Leopard. Birds like Fire-tailed Sunbird, Himalayan Monel, Blood Pheasant, Brown Dipper Pokémon could be Water/Flying and use water a shield to protect itself, Himalayan Swiftlet, Himalayan owl, Mountain scops owl, Golden Eagle There are also lots of insect species that could be made into Pokémon like Jewel bugs like Calliphara excellens, Weaver Ants and you could have a butterfly Pokémon based on The rare Bhutan Glory butterfly. There also could be a Legendary Pokémon based on a Yeti and a Lakhe, the Nepalese fire burning demon spirit. Then there is other animals that could have Pokémon based on them like Yak, Kiang, Himalayan Wolf, Himalayan Tahr, Yellow-throated Marten etc...
Some good ideas but fire starter is definitely not going to be fire/ghost, they've just had two in a row with skeledirge and hisuian typhlosion and after all the backlash from doing 3 fire/fighting in a row they're not gonna make that mistake again
Fire Horse is a little close to Ponyta for my liking but maybe the fully evolved form is something like Fire/Steel with a signature move throwing a star shaped badge at opponents? Like a frontier sheriff.
I would say the buffalo will be a water pokemon, since water buffalo’s exist and also the fact they’re a perfect candidate for the “weapon” category water consistently has
I still don't think the Chinese Zodiac is going to immediately return (if it was a thing, Fuecoco wouldn't be) but I do like the Fire Snake. Fire Horse though.....just going to be a variation of Ponyta really.
There is something I'd like to point: You forgot something when you theorized about a pokemon region in this video, the 9G mythical pokemon pecharunt. That's just a theory but since gen 5/6 the mythicals of a region hint at the next. So at what region could pecharunt hint? The japanese region could easily be the choice because of the tale that inspired pecharunt. For the rest it's more hard but I tried: The netherlands could have been hinted because Pecharunt look like more or less like a tulip, flowers that played a role in the country's story. If that's Australia that is chosen for gen 10, It may be not the country but its main theme that pecharunt, the loyal three and ogerpon could hint. Australia would be the first pokemon region in the south hemisphere, so it's the INVERSE of what we got in the past. Australia is also considered having a wildlife totally different from the rest of the world due to it isolation for exemple we have mammals that lay eggs, the INVERSE of the other regions. But in the DLC the tale of momotaro has been inversed: Instead of the peach boy and his friends being the good guy and the ogre the evil, it's the opposite. So Pecharunt could hint at gen 10 main theme INVERSION. (also Australia has a lot of toxic stuffs like pecharunt and its minions) I also heard someone saying China is one of the main peach productors so Pecharunt could hint at that to.
Another point in favor for a western US region is that we typically revisit old regions in double the generation they came from. So a Unova revisit and a western US region could fit. That being said, I do see a Japan revisit for Gen 10. Maybe some sort of sequel to Kanto/Johto as it's been like 30 years
I feel like Brazil would be a really good pick for the 10th region, because: -It is the most biodiverse country in the world, so they could easily do a large pokedex like in gens 1 and 5(even if it means, not initially having old pokémon, I think it's a good tradeoff); -Brazil has the largest number of japanese people outside of Japan, so the region could easily have a district that references the japanese regions heavily, as it would be a nice callback; -Because Brazil is really big with a large population, there are endless cultural inspirations for new pokémon; -Mew was said to be tied to the Amazon rainforest, so it could be another great callback to gen 1.
South America is my vote. Amazon Rainforest inspired area. Tons of other biomes. Also the first mythical Mew is canonically stated to hail from the region. Just a little shifting, and you have an excuse to make a regional mew or legendary mew. Also rainforest is the perfect excuse for a bug dragon legendary or pseudo
I´ve gone to Australia and I´ve seen giant spider like creatures there, imagine giant spider pokemon that are bug/dark type... that would make my arachnophobia instantly triggered
For Fire-Type starters, I would really like to see a move away from the very tired-out Chinese Zodiac inspiration. Especially given that we hear nothing of similar fan-theories about the Grass and Water-Type starters at least even *close* to as much as we get the Chinese Zodiac pounded into our heads. What I'd heard from at least some was that the Grass starters were based on extinct animals and Water starters are based on military weapons or military personnel, and at least the extinct animals bit does still fit relatively well for the Grass-Type starters even these days with the Iberian lynx inspiration for Meowscarada, but it seems like the fans have long moved away from either especially when designing new starters, and I think that moving away from the Chinese Zodiac would greatly benefit new Fire-Type Pokemon fan-designs, as well. Besides, essentially, what I think is, "Why do all of the Starters through the generations HAVE to follow a theme?" It just seems arbitrarily restricting.
I'd love to have a region based on Australia with all the forms of wildlife there that pokemon can use for inspiration including regional variants of different pokemon and the evolutions of pokemon like komala and kangaskhan. I'd also be stoked to see what legendary and mythical pokemon could exist in said region with all the fauna and legends game freak could pull from like aboriginal ones. I have high hopes for Generation 10's new region to be based around Africa (includes Egypt if anyone forgets and Madagascar), I mean who doesn't want to see Africa become part of the Pokemon world? It is another choice fans like me want to see for quite a while and I love the diversity of the wildlife from elephants to zebras, lions to giraffes, and ostriches to monkeys and lemurs; I mean there's just so much going on with the wildlife that it's got to be a must be made region for an upcoming Gen 10 main game! I personally love a lot about Africa and feel like this is a good pick, but ultimately wouldn't mind seeing any of the ones you said to be the next chosen region, including India, the rest of North America, China, Italy, South America and Russia to name a "few". I love all of the potential starters and would like to see another video of more region choices happen in the future.

And if they do the thing about you getting a Ride Pokemon again, they could make it be a thing you get later in the game when your Pokemon is in its second stage and would be strong enough to carry you. And you'd always have the ball on you, whether its in your battle rotation or not, and we've seen Pokemon choose to go in and out of balls as they please so it being "fainted" could just be it being too exhausted to battle, but it can still carry you, so it works from a meta standpoint as well.
Call me biased because of my ethnicity; but a region based on Latin America or specifically Mexico would be rad with starters based on a Mexican Spiny Tailed Iguana (Water), East Mexican Black Bear (Fire), and the Quetzal (Grass). Not to mention the core legendaries being based on the Golden Eagle, a Jaguar, and Quetzalcoatle. Maybe the region can feature TWO pseudo-legendary Pokemon. A Dark/Poison type based on the Chupacabra. Specifically the quadruped, spiny, dog-like verson and be a physical attacker. The second pseudo-legendary can be based on La Llorona and be a Ghost/Fairy type specializing in special attacks.
Also, it makes total sense for them to make we go from an Iberian region to a Latin America region. That's basically history. I might be biased because I'm also from Latin America (Brazil) but I really want it too. Though I'd love if they sneaked in references to El Chavo del Ocho or El Chapulin Colorado, like a regional Lokix or a witch pokémon that is number #71 on the dex, I also wanted it to be a place from the South Hemisphere. We've got 9 regions and NONE of them are from the South of the globe.
I think Brazil might be too big as a single region, but I really wanted them to make a part of Brazil as a region, but please don't make it so Brazil is only represented with the Amazon forest or Rio de Janeiro. Something like the Northeast or the South of Brazil would be so cool.

The Iceland part of a Scandinavian pokémon region could be so cool...they already have so many weird legendary animals. Puffin pokémon, Yggdrasil pokémon, elves, Yule Lads, hidden folk, Skoffin (fox which can turn someone into stone if it looks at them), Gryla and Leppalaudi.
I’ve been campaigning for a region based on Chugoku and Shikoku since 2010.
It’s the last major region of Japan that hasn’t been adapted yet. It’s also got potential. Like Hoenn, there’d roughly an equal amount of land and water, and there are tons of legends surrounding the body of water that separates the two parts (the Seto Inland Sea). It’s a touchy subject, but it’s also where Hiroshima is located. They could do something with that if they wanted to. Pokemon mutated by radiation would be rather tasteless, but maybe there could just be some comments about how the region was once at war with Unova and Galar, but now they’re all friends.
I would personally like a China and Hong Kong based region for Gen 10. China and Hong Kong have a great history, mythology, culture, landscape and animals for a Pokémon region.

For starter names I think “Growey” for the kangaroo starter since Joey is the name for a baby kangaroo and grow which is what plants do!

I would love a region based on Africa. Specifically, Northern Africa, because I need a regional Lucario that looks even more like Anubis that isn't just a Unite skin.
As a Dutchman, For starters a cow and lion are a must. And as a 3rd starter I want to see something like a pidgeon or a Blackbird. These are one of the most common birds here.
Australia has a lot of unused animals and prehistorical mammals could easily become a fossil type or legendary. Kangaroo/wallaby , tasmanian devil and platypus would be a nice choice as starters.
I personally would like a region based on Guyana, mainly because they could tie it all back to gen 1 with the discovery of mew. Also there’s real world connections to Guyana, Britain and France, I can see it being referenced in a Pokémon game when Galar and Kalos exist. Especially Kalos with Legends ZA coming.
I'd love to see an Australian, Indonesian, Greek or an Irish region tbh, but mostly an Irish region because it is rich in history, culture, tradition and such, also has ties with three other European based region like Paldea (Iberian region), Kalos (France; St Patrick, Normans and such tied to it) and Galar (England; a lot of big history and such between the two), so yeah
I would say the water Starter would be a monkey cause we had a Fire monkey starter (chimchar) in gen 4 and a grass monkey starter (Grookey) on gen 8.

Definitely want to see the Grass Bison final evolution, I can see it having horns made of wood just like Sawsbuck’s antlers and prairie grasses making up what would on a normal bison be it’s hair.
I really think they could go back to a japan based region because it’s where the series started and I think it would be cool to explore a region with a familiar feel but with all new Pokémon + regional forms and convergent evolutions!

While I would love an Australian region and agree that it's the most desired, I'm a bit iffy on the starter choice. Starter Pokemon have never really paired up with a region's inspiration's most famous wildlife as far as I remember. At least not all three. Really only starting with gen 6 and Froakie did any of the starters seem to have cultural connections to their region's inspiration. Popplio and Rowlet are both based off of animals that live on Hawaii. Other than Scorbunny possibly being a super loose reference to the killer rabbit of Monty Python's "Holy Grail" none of the gen 8 starters have deep ties to the UK. And other than Fuecoco looking like a Spanish dish, none of the gen 9 starters are tied to Spanish wildlife.
Also, just to add, the fire starters have never really followed the Chinse Zodiac. It's a fun fan theory, but it takes a lot of stretching to fit. An echidna is supposed to be a rat? A fox is supposed to be the dog? And now people are claiming that Fuecoco is supposed to be the snake or are completely ignoring it? It doesn't help that the games never tried to follow the zodiac in order. Looking at the current lineup of fire type starters, there doesn't seem to be much of a pattern, especially with Fuecoco breaking up long standing patterns such as every fire type since Torchic being based on mammals and becoming bipedal. If anything, I hope the next fire type starter, or really any starter, takes on the bug typing or has clear arthropod origins just to completely shake up the starter line up.

Fire ox/ cow for a Wisconsin region. It's known for dairy products. The Great Peshtigo Fire was the same day as the Chicago Fire, and destroyed more land. (The Chicago Fire supposedly was started by Mrs. O'Leary's cow.) Because some people trying to escape the flames jumped into the river and died of hypothermia there, it gains the ice typing.

The western USA is too massive and diverse to be just one region, and part of it already is a region (Orre is Arizona with a little bit of nearby Mexican states). Unova isn’t the entire east coast, after all, it’s just New York City and parts of the surrounding area. You’ve got to break it down somehow, both to maintain scale (the Pokemon world isn’t 1:1 with our geography, but it’s pretty close) and to leave room for future regions.
California would be a good place to start. That state has a little bit of everything: the ocean, scorching deserts, snowy mountains, and forests with trees big enough to drive a car through. It’s home to people from all over the world, and wildlife just as varied. You’d also have Orre next door for a potential post-game.

I know it's too much to ask for but what I would love to see in a future generation is one where you can pick what town you live in at the start, and that effects what your starter is. Either by being given what's around in the area, or a local gym leader supplying the choice.

While we do have a number of venomous animals here, I doubt it is the majority. Other animals may be dangerous without being venomous. But I think the stereotype of dangerous animals trying to kill Aussies all the time is a bit exaggerated 😅

Since we already have bibarel as a water type beaver, I prefer the idea of leaning into the tree felling and dam building aspect of beavers as a grass starter. Make it into a grass/steel lumberjack with a chainsaw tail!

I really think while we desperately want Australia to be the 10th generation, I can feel Gamefreak would make California/Washington/Nevada be a region since a majority of their fan base is in America. We got NY and Hawaii, why not California? While Mexico would work with Texas being the expansion pack, we got Spain recently covering the Latino base. I’m putting my money down on the Western USA being 10th Gen area.

Florida is like America's version of Australia. Florida itself is already kind of a pokemon region because of all different animals u could find there.
I was hoping you’d give the platypus secondary Poison typing, but we’ve already got a platypus Pokemon: Psyduck. It’s even a Gen I Pokemon. If they ever do an Australian region, I think it’s more likely Psyduck will get a regional variant (hopefully with those venomous spurs) rather than there being a new one.
A tree kangaroo would be an interesting addition, but I have to imagine Kangaskhan would be in the game (probably just regular old Kangaskhan, no regional variant). I could see them doing both, though.

1. The map at Blue Berry academy shows a part of an unknown region that looks suspiciously like either the province Zeeland or the area where Rotterdam is in real life.
2. The Pokémon x Van Gogh collaboration that took place last year.
3. The connection between the Netherlands and Japan had since at least the 17th century as the Netherlands was the only European nation that was allowed to trade with Japan for centuries before Japan opened up for the rest of the world in the late 19th century.
Funnily enough I think a new Japanese based region would be the least likely since we had Kitakami in the first Gen 9 DLC.

The fire type starters are NOT based on the Chinese calendar, that is an idea that loses meaning with skeledirge and Delphox, apart from that I see the starter quite well, but not because of the Chinese calendar

I am trying to come up with ideas of my own for future Pokémon games, themes, regions, regional variants, etc. However, I have no ideas for new game mechanics like Mega Evolutions from Kalos, Z-moves from Alola, the Dynamax from Galar, or the Terestal from Paldea.

I'm more of the thought that the gen 10/30 anniversary will/has to be a Japanese region. It might be sentimental thinking but I really think that's the way to go, or it should be the way to go.
Now, of all these, I think the Netherlands based starters is the trio that looks the most solid. Because of all these water starters, for some dumb or wild reason, the crab one looks the most convincing and realistic.

I think these starter ideas are very well designed and I would like to see them as the Gen 10 starters. Out of these options I would like to see a new Japanese region for Gen 10. They could have the new Japanese region be based on the Tohoku region of Japan. It would be a great way for Pokémon to return to their roots.

What do you think about these names, Hoops?
I would like to see a region based on The Himalayas regions like Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet etc... It could have habitats like high mountains, very tall trees (based on the Deodar Cedar), alpine meadows, snow etc.... You could have a region with mostly unique Pokémon in it like the way Gen III Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald games had mostly new Pokémon and not a lot from Gen I and II regions in the games.
There are a lot of animals that you could base Pokémon on including big cats like Bengal Tiger, Pallas Cat and Snow Leopard. Birds like Fire-tailed Sunbird, Himalayan Monel, Blood Pheasant, Brown Dipper Pokémon could be Water/Flying and use water a shield to protect itself, Himalayan Swiftlet, Himalayan owl, Mountain scops owl, Golden Eagle
There are also lots of insect species that could be made into Pokémon like Jewel bugs like Calliphara excellens, Weaver Ants and you could have a butterfly Pokémon based on The rare Bhutan Glory butterfly. There also could be a Legendary Pokémon based on a Yeti and a Lakhe, the Nepalese fire burning demon spirit. Then there is other animals that could have Pokémon based on them like Yak, Kiang, Himalayan Wolf, Himalayan Tahr, Yellow-throated Marten etc...
The grass kangaroo could evolve into a grass/psychic type called Kanguru, that likes to meditate, and in trees sometimes.
Some good ideas but fire starter is definitely not going to be fire/ghost, they've just had two in a row with skeledirge and hisuian typhlosion and after all the backlash from doing 3 fire/fighting in a row they're not gonna make that mistake again
Fire Horse is a little close to Ponyta for my liking but maybe the fully evolved form is something like Fire/Steel with a signature move throwing a star shaped badge at opponents? Like a frontier sheriff.
I would say the buffalo will be a water pokemon, since water buffalo’s exist and also the fact they’re a perfect candidate for the “weapon” category water consistently has

I still don't think the Chinese Zodiac is going to immediately return (if it was a thing, Fuecoco wouldn't be) but I do like the Fire Snake. Fire Horse though.....just going to be a variation of Ponyta really.

There is something I'd like to point: You forgot something when you theorized about a pokemon region in this video, the 9G mythical pokemon pecharunt. That's just a theory but since gen 5/6 the mythicals of a region hint at the next.
So at what region could pecharunt hint? The japanese region could easily be the choice because of the tale that inspired pecharunt.
For the rest it's more hard but I tried: The netherlands could have been hinted because Pecharunt look like more or less like a tulip, flowers that played a role in the country's story.
If that's Australia that is chosen for gen 10, It may be not the country but its main theme that pecharunt, the loyal three and ogerpon could hint. Australia would be the first pokemon region in the south hemisphere, so it's the INVERSE of what we got in the past. Australia is also considered having a wildlife totally different from the rest of the world due to it isolation for exemple we have mammals that lay eggs, the INVERSE of the other regions. But in the DLC the tale of momotaro has been inversed: Instead of the peach boy and his friends being the good guy and the ogre the evil, it's the opposite. So Pecharunt could hint at gen 10 main theme INVERSION. (also Australia has a lot of toxic stuffs like pecharunt and its minions)
I also heard someone saying China is one of the main peach productors so Pecharunt could hint at that to.
We've had a lot of tropical, hot regions. I think it would be nice to go cold for a region, Iceland! the environment is beautiful!

Another point in favor for a western US region is that we typically revisit old regions in double the generation they came from. So a Unova revisit and a western US region could fit. That being said, I do see a Japan revisit for Gen 10. Maybe some sort of sequel to Kanto/Johto as it's been like 30 years
Minor correction about playtipi: the males are the ones with venomous spurs.
I feel like Brazil would be a really good pick for the 10th region, because:
-It is the most biodiverse country in the world, so they could easily do a large pokedex like in gens 1 and 5(even if it means, not initially having old pokémon, I think it's a good tradeoff);
-Brazil has the largest number of japanese people outside of Japan, so the region could easily have a district that references the japanese regions heavily, as it would be a nice callback;
-Because Brazil is really big with a large population, there are endless cultural inspirations for new pokémon;
-Mew was said to be tied to the Amazon rainforest, so it could be another great callback to gen 1.

South America is my vote. Amazon Rainforest inspired area. Tons of other biomes. Also the first mythical Mew is canonically stated to hail from the region. Just a little shifting, and you have an excuse to make a regional mew or legendary mew. Also rainforest is the perfect excuse for a bug dragon legendary or pseudo

I´ve gone to Australia and I´ve seen giant spider like creatures there, imagine giant spider pokemon that are bug/dark type... that would make my arachnophobia instantly triggered
For Fire-Type starters, I would really like to see a move away from the very tired-out Chinese Zodiac inspiration. Especially given that we hear nothing of similar fan-theories about the Grass and Water-Type starters at least even *close* to as much as we get the Chinese Zodiac pounded into our heads. What I'd heard from at least some was that the Grass starters were based on extinct animals and Water starters are based on military weapons or military personnel, and at least the extinct animals bit does still fit relatively well for the Grass-Type starters even these days with the Iberian lynx inspiration for Meowscarada, but it seems like the fans have long moved away from either especially when designing new starters, and I think that moving away from the Chinese Zodiac would greatly benefit new Fire-Type Pokemon fan-designs, as well. Besides, essentially, what I think is, "Why do all of the Starters through the generations HAVE to follow a theme?" It just seems arbitrarily restricting.

I'd love to have a region based on Australia with all the forms of wildlife there that pokemon can use for inspiration including regional variants of different pokemon and the evolutions of pokemon like komala and kangaskhan. I'd also be stoked to see what legendary and mythical pokemon could exist in said region with all the fauna and legends game freak could pull from like aboriginal ones. The western USA could be a cool region too with the native American inspiration they can use to make regional variants and evolutions of pokemon.
Considering Platypet is a temtem derived from a water starter fakemon, I doubt we'd get a water starter based on a platypus because of those events

@@Pika-tm4sf OI was thinking since it would be Western part of America, a Thunderbird like Legendary bird would be neat. I know they've already done a Lightening Bird but I think it'd be neat to see it.
