Regional variant Pokemon have been a thing for a while now, but it was only recently in Pokemon Legends Arceus that we saw regional variants of Starter Pokemon. To this point, only the starters in those games have received regional variants, but what if EVERY Starter Pokemon had one? In today's video, we are going to continue to explore this idea, as I showcase some more regional variant evolutions that I have created for more Starter Pokemon!

terrid start, Incineroar needs a wrestler or related theme to play on and theres tons of great regional fakemon that keep it bipedal, to ZA alone theres like 3 great ones by artists on twttr now, and no regional starter changed their stance so changing only his just to please his haters is extremely unfair when its a very popular pokemon tobegin with
Ignoring the hatedom is mostly an american thing and the japanese know the tiger mask and its wrestlign history, you removed every theme on a popular mon cause "what the people want" .. .no its a popular design as is thts used a lot (not including comp) and youre ruining it to answer to a circlejrk you see in social media that doesnt reflect the worldwide importance of the pokemon (seriously watch tiger mask), just due missing the point of the grappler/personality/tiger mask theme doesnt mean your idea is "unanimous" at all (you also missed the point of skeledirge and the duck but this was the most egregious one, a redesign solely for haters, may as well change pikachu to people who hate pokemon). You disliked the original design, fair enough, but because you completely missed the point (like when you thought zacian had flesh bits) it took off every bit of theme it had and even the tail and the stripes, so its not even a good normal tiger, viewers who dont care about the theme and do genwars may be fine with it but it ends a poor version to please american haters who never bother with the themes they have. Also if the excuse to the "criticism" is that theres more bipedals since, just add one thats is not, instead of breaking the theme, of all bipedal starter its probably the one that needs it the most for the theme to work other than infernape over a convoluted reflection of it that has 1% of the thought the og had.
I tend to think Incineroar is more based around a cat due to the way I view the overall design; it just doesn't scream tiger whenever I look at it sometimes. I've always wanted to see a sabre-tooth Pokemon, so implementing the elements of a sabre-tooth tiger into Incineroar makes a perfect design! (I wished Meowscarada was based on a sabre-tooth tiger and not look like how it is as we see it now.) I first thought your regional Skeledirge was an Aztec variant, but an Egyptian crocodile is a good choice, and it looks so much better than regular Skeledirge (not that I hate it unlike Meowscarada). Regional Rillaboom looked like a Grass/Normal type, but I suppose being part Fairy isn't bad, it just doesn't feel like one what with the colors not reflecting its new typing. Seems regional Quaquaval has a bit of a roadrunner vibe when I take it all in, an eagle's not a bad idea too, and I like regular Quaquaval better than the other Paldean starters!

Okay, hear me out. The bird for the Skeledirge variant appears in the mouth (like some sort of animation) as a nod to the Egyptian Plover which actually gets into the mouths of crocodiles to pick bits of food from between their teeth.

The concepts and artwork are great, Oscar Belmonte is one of the best artists around, but man some more type variety from you would be nice.

Before he said Rilaboom was based on classic music I thought he was based on Joey Ramone and late 70s punk.
I like Incineroar's design, but I don't think rock typing works since it doesn't have enough rock aesthetics to communicate that it's a rock type. It looks even more like more like a dark type now.
I hate it, its just another pokemon, then it aint regional, if you dont like the original tiger and monkey make new ones, dont ruin then by replacing with something else, it doesnt connect
8:15 The bird should have been on the crown on Skeledirge's head, flaming orange and yellow like it's original look to match the gold. Many pharaohs had ornate headpieces that often included some animal as a centerpiece, and the bird could have easily been Ra inspired with a small sun orb over its own head as well, controlling it with psychic powers.

As a huge Incineroar fan, I can see where people are coming from when they say they don't like it being bipedal. Quaquaval tho, I seriously don't know why it's so disliked because I think it's a great design.
That being said, I think the designs in this video are all really cool.

Incineroar has a great wrestling theme, good personality, and a decent tiger mask theme, so theres a million ways you can adapt that to a regional and keep it bipedal (za fakemon alone had artists doing a trickster, a warrior, a guard etc, tons of options for a grappler theme), changing the stance just to please the haters is very unfair when samurott didnt change and its a very popular pokemon in general. Im unsubbing.
Same reason as Incineroar, they look more like cartoon characters than Pokémon, and that’s taking into account the very humanoid Pokémon. Inteleon and Cinderace are the worst offenders.

Good idea for Incineroar to be quadrapedal, but tail actually looks worse. Because the flame is more or less a collar and it would work if it was a fire bone collar to represent the past, but the way your friend drew this Incineroar looks like someone removed his tail.

Smilodon are not "sabre-toothed tigers", that is a widespread lie. They are totally different species, they are felines yes, but tigers have nothing to do with Smilodon evolutionarily. Still I definitely loved the design of this new incineroar, very good video as always.

Quacklaval- ballet is from France. Swan Lake is a ballet. Perhaps water ice, to bring in some Russian inspiration. Too obvious for a water bird? Or too close to swanna?
As a Brazilian, I'm REALLY resistent to changes in skeledirge or quaquaval, before the pokemon s/v reveal we was theorizing that we might finally have a Brazil inspired game, so it's reveal and the fact that we don't even have a Portuguese translation yet killed almos all of our hope, so 2 clearly brazil inspired pokemon warms my heart, but i have to say i loved your skeledirge idea, it was kinda sad the lack of reference to sobek being the god of the waters and the nile, and even though i didn't really enjoyed shifting quaquaval's design to a more north American (with the eagle inspiration), the idea was pretty clever and quite broad enough to represent all the native tribes through all the Americas
he disrespected all their themes, we go from pragmajik giving million themes for each starter regional and hoops dont even get the main one of each that you bend, look at hisui samurott and decidueye, still quadryped and bipedal each, still samurai and archer, and then it add on top of it, meanwhile hoops hate incineroar and decided "everybody" must too so he cuts his themes and replace with Diego from ice age but farding fire oooh but hes skinny emo cat now so "good" to the gen war crowd who complains at every starter.
@@yodorr6249 well, yeah, but that's kinda the whole regional form point, don't? i mean, what the kantonian weezingo has to do with the galarian weezing, or a duck with a green onion with a knight, or the kantonian Sandslash with the Alolan, the point of the regional forms is getting a Pokemon and adapting to another culture, context, etc. he just saw a design that he (and a LOT of other people online) didn't really liked and make a new version that suits better his tastes, he never said that incineroar was bad or that he knows more than the designers, just that he didn't really enjoyed. Also he's not pointing a gun towards your head and obligating you to use it or trying to delete the original incineroar, even if it becomes real, would be just an alternative form, the OG incineroar would still exist and you would be able to use it

Skelidurge regional variant's bird could just be hiding in the crown of flames. Could be a cute part of it's animation where it peaks out every so often.
For the fire bird missing on skeledirge, just put a blue fire cobra coming out the circle on its forehead like the ancient pharaoh masks
Ghost type also makes sense for Quaquaval because of the historical importance of the Ghost Dance

Sorry, Skeledirge, I want Quackaval more now. If that was the real Pokemon, I'd be screaming my head off from how sick this thing was
1. Skeledirge (Its the most inspired, and pleasing to the eyes, while still looking like Skeledirge)
2. Quaquaval (Same as Skeledirge, but slightly different since it's less colorful and kinda awkward)
3. Rillaboom (It's simply too ugly. It lacks the charm Rillaboom has normally, and looks too plain)
4. Incineroar (Even worse than Rillaboom. It's even uglier, lacking even more charm and more like a regular feral animal. I'd expect to see this more as a Past Paradox than a regional variant of a normal Incineroar)

Who did you consult on the Quaquaval design? I think it's a great concept but the design could've had a deeper connection to its inspiration.
I used to dance fancy dance, grass dance, and traditional grass dance. I think the typing is nice but the water typing is what's throwing it off for me. It feels like an amalgamation of culture vs a specific inspiration
I agree on the Quaquaval. It could be literally any type or even just pure water and I would like this one infinitely more.

Ok, i gotta say, i feel like every other variant over these 4 videos is ghost or psychic. The Duck coulda been flying.
Yeah that quaquaval totally would make it my favorite starter from gen 9
Way before this video was released, i imagined the forms of these 4 Pokémon.
Rillaboom: Grass/Steel. Since Cinderace's and Intelleon's forms are based on American's culture instead of British culture (respectively an American football player instead of a Soccer/European football player and an outlaw straight out of a western movie instead of a James Bond-like spy), i based the Rillaboom's form of Street music, with an iron barrel in it's back, holding iron bars and pipes instead of wooden sticks, and it's hair looking like more dreads.
Incineroar: Fire/Rock. Incineroar is based on a typical wrestler, so i decided to take inspiration from an another form of wrestling: the pankration, a combat sport originating of Greece, but was practiced in various continents through the History like in Africa or Australia, and this latter is my other inspiration, since this form of Incineroar is based of a tasmanian tiger (an extinct animal which lived in Australia, and, unlike what it's name suggest, is a marsupial, not a feline). And to explains the Rock type, i said to myself: since the Aboriginals of Australia practice the pankration and old carvings representing tasmanian tigers were found, i gave the Rock type to Incineroar.
Quaquaval: Water/Ice. Quaquaval's theme is dance, so i based it of the Kozachok, also called Cossack dance, a dance practiced in Russia and other easten-european countries. Just imagine Quaquaval doing this dance during all the battle (or just to attack), it would be hilarious.
Skeledirge: Fire/Dark. Since this is the last of the four i imagined, i was way less inspired, but i based Skeledirge's new form of the band Kiss (Which has already inspired the Galarian Zigzagoon line), but more precisely Gene Simmons and his fire breath.
I feel like you could take the concept of Ammit, the Egyptian God of Judgement for Skeledirge
I really like the Quaquoval evolution, but I feel like it's more of a lateral move rather than an improvement. Rillaboom is a total improvement on enother hand, but I feel like it needs to look flashier to be based off of both classic music writers composers and have a Fairy typing. Genuinely think the other two designs are steps down though, especially Incineroar.

Here's an idea for where the bird is: that cover on his forehead almost looks like a dual door. What if it open and closes to have the bird pop out of its head, since it's a Fire/Psychic type?

hoops been doing poke videos for years but he couldnt be bothered to learn what the themes of the mons are for, he doesnt bother with any music theme to rillaboom, just ruins the wrestle stuff to incineroar and just replace it with a new mon thats a skinny Diego cause he hates the og, quaquaval doesnt get new specific dance, hoops fell off

To be honest, I would go w/ this version of Quaquaval. Mainly because not only am I a Ghost-type lover, but I'm also a little bit of a Native-American as well.

Quaquaval is less gay and moreso just a feminine starter; its based on samba and peacock dancers (which are primarily women)

I want to say that every final evolution fire starter is bipedal…… so I don’t understand what the hate is, it’s never been any different
Quaquaval is based on a very specific kind of culture and dance. You should have done the same for its regional variant instead of assuming all Indigenous people are going to be represented by this thing. You should have gone with a specific tribe.
All of his have no theme, dont replace the og theme and disrespect the og theme too, compare it to pragmajiks having 10 themes for each and researching, hoops Incin one had nothing like wrestling, someone else commented but that one is based on a character beloved there called "Tiger Mask" for arceus sake, at least use another icon to replace that character. But he changed all of them because he hated the ogs and thought everybody hated it too. He just assume everybody must hate what he doest but at least keep a theme

Hoops makes great videos, but when it comes to putting Pokemon concepts together, it's a bit lacking in something.
I knew the Incineroar variant was going to be lackluster as soon as I saw the silhouette was a quadruped. All Starters Must Stand!
This batch is a mixed bag, some need little change
Incineroar is a great design for what you're going for, I can even see this thing getting on two legs to preform certain action while moving on all fours (kind of like a bear). The only thing I should note is that you might want to make it's front fangs just a tad longer and a bit thicker, because I can see prehistoric tiger but not a saber tooth tiger
I don't think you realize how that bird is important to Skeledirge's design, namely that fire sombrero it's prevo had was in fat the bird egg and it's nest (that happened to be made out of fire). You shouldn't take away the bird unless you plan on also giving a regional variant to the second stage that doesn't have the egg. The other thing with this design is that it feels more Aztec then Egyptian (at lest to me), I don't have an issue with this being Aztec looking but I know it wasn't your intention. I think a good idea that could fix both problems is to make that headpiece longer and more oval shape like those Egyptian name plates, and have the bird be perched on the edge
I know you put a lot of thought into Riallaboom, but because I don't see the stick I feel that you're missing a thing that it's entire evolution line was building up to. Because the entire Grookey line had sticks that it would hit on any surface in a rhythm like fashion, a drummer was the natural end goal, and while this regional variant could still pull this off I see no sticks for it to hit things with. Other then that I think the design itself is good
Quaquaval is great, but it does need some edits. The entire evolution line are water birds, and thus have webbed feet. Normally they would all be ducks, but (regular) Quaquaval is a bit weird as it seems to be a mix of a peacock and a coot. While I think you could do more, I think the simplest thing is to edit the claws to be more puffy like a coot to give it a more amphibious feel to match it's water type
Incineroar one was terrible, utterly ruin the tiger mask origin and theme when samurott and all regionals in fact never change stances (they even keep the same pose as the original, every single one, but mr mime that dances instead), thats just an excuses to please haters who are nostalgic for other eras and unfair on the original idea. It completely misses the point of every design inspiration
Rillaboom's Stick could be a composer stick

I really like the execution on the Incineroar variant. The proportions are spot on, and it's all around genuinely good. I also like Rillaboom as a composer. Quacuaval looks dope

That was the worst one: the proportions are generic like 20 other pokemon, didnt had tiger parts and had a fiery but instead, specifically said he just hated the og and then didnt include the wrestle stuff nor a replacement. You shouldnt ruin a pokemon for the people who hated the og. Rillaboon was the second worst cause it also lost all the themes and didnt had an equivalent but at least that one tried something, but pragmajik had a way better one recently that keeps the drum. The best was skeledirge but missing out on what the bird meant to be...

The Incineroar part reminded me of a hot take of mine. Making starters quadruped for the sake of it takes away all of their personality.
Example: Incineroar, look at any of its countless expressions it has on like Smash. Now compare it to Skeledirge, it's just a crocodile, it is emotionless, like yes, I like that it's head is kinda coffin, and stage with pyrotechnics themed, but the bird is the only personality it has

First off The Gorilllaboom looks like its Teddiursa's Regional evolution that was all black with a mushroom cap on it (was this one of ur what if blank Dark type regional variant videos? I cant find it online and I recall it being called like Darsumtra or something similar). Secondly the Quackival just looks like Braviery on two legs. It always loses the personality and charisma when it's like that, plus every single fire type starter is bipedal, now you might be thinking of Skeledirge, but lemme tell you something, even Skeledirge can be bipedal, leaks that got the designs 100% correctly states that Skeledirge can switch staces from quadrupedal to bipedal, just like Swampert does, plus we can see that in the Torch Song animation.

As someone that loves Native American culture and Ghost Types. I adore Quaquaval. Especially if you want to spin it to be based in “Rain Dancers”. I’m actually upset that it’s not real. That’s high praise since the large majority of Fakémon look too uncanny for me.

Don't like the complete disregard of Incineroar's wrestling inspiration. I would've preferred to keep that aspect of it, maybe keeping in line with a historical idea a Fire/Steel gladiator variant(trying to stay away from the dreaded fire/fighting starter😅)
Removing every theme on a popular mon cause "what the people want" .. .no its a popular design as is thts used a lot (not including comp) and youre ruining it to answer to a circlejrk you see in social media that doesnt reflect the worldwide importance of the pokemon (watch tiger mask to have an idea what it came from), just because you completely missed the point of the grappler/personality/tiger mask theme doesnt mean your idea is "unanimous" at all. You just disliked the original design because you completely missed the point (like when you thought zacian had flesh bits) and just took off every bit of theme it had and even the tail and the stripes, so its not even a good normal tiger. Also if the excuse to the "criticism" is that theres more bipedals since, just add one thats is not, instead of breaking the theme, of all bipedal starter its probably the one that needs it the most for the theme to work other than infernape. Unsubbing
Yeah, I feel like this video was him taking Pokemon (at least Incineroar and Quaquaval) he doesn't like, and changing it in a way that it's no longer that Pokemon. His Incineroar might (emphasis on might) work a a Past Paradox Incineroar or a split evolution, and his Quaquaval might work as a Convergent Quaquaval. I like his Rillaboom and Skeledirge, as they feel like they are still the same Pokemon, just affected by a different region (plus in my opinion, the more Fairy and Psychic starters the better)
If youre gonna replace my g with a skinny Diego lookalike that has nothing to do with the og in any way, shape of color, just make a new fossilmon instead, if you hate a pokemon at least respect their inspirations dont replace them with a oc and call that regional, why would france not go with a french fighter but a north american fossil instead lol
Lame, Incineroar needs a wrestler or related theme to play on and theres tons of great regional fakemon that keep it bipedal, to ZA alone theres like 3 great ones by artists on twttr now, and no regional starter changed their stance so changing only his just to please his haters is extremely unfair when its a very popular pokemon to begin with
